Things Sure Have a Way of Changing!

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

As I’ve written before Kathy was born with a congenital heart defect that affects her breathing and what her body can tolerate compared to people born with a normal heart. Most of the time she enjoys a fairly normal life style and many of you probably wouldn’t realize she even has any problem. She had very thorough testing back in 2003 where the problem was first discovered. Since then her symptoms have been controlled with medication and she has learned to listen to her body at least most of the time. This requires her to stop and rest on occasion.

In the last two years she has been having more than her normal shortness of breath. On occasion she experiences a slight fluttering of her heart after some of her more strenuous activities. Eleven years have passed since she had a thorough testing so her Cardiologist (The one with the bad bedside manners) has decided to proceed with tests that will double check to see how well the blood is flowing to her heart. This is important because she could require additional help to keep it functioning so that she can continue leading a near normal life.

Today was the first of two days that she goes to the hospital as an outpatient for testing and evaluation. Today the tests were not as demanding as they’ll be tomorrow but the day was hectic because of going from one appointment to another. We will keep everyone posted in time what the doctors find and if there are any changes being made to Kathy’s lifestyle.

With our hearts set on the grilled fish fillets last night we didn’t even think to cook them any other way than on the Weber. So with that mindset that was what we did tonight and the fish went perfectly with the pasta sidedish and vegetables that Kathy cooked up.
Kylla in her new car. She drove straight from the dealership to show us.
Just as we were sitting down at the computers this evening our granddaughter Kylla called saying she was heading over to show us her new to her car. Since she is attending nursing school she needs to have her own vehicle. Her dad Greg is a shrewd negotiator and bargained a better deal than she could have ever expected to get. Since she is also working she will be making her own payments that will make her more responsible for her own future.
Kylla happy and proud of her new car.
She insisted on taking us for a ride and ended up taking us to McDonalds for an ice cream treat. We got a chance to congratulate her on her very first car once we got back at the apartment. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Topsy Turvy Plans.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

When I was growing up I always heard that Sunday was a day of rest. Unfortunately once I was a teenager my father always found something for me to help him work on and then when I was in the working world I had very few Sundays off. Now that we are retired you’d think I could finally rest and even sleep in. Then why is it that most Sundays like today I lay awake in bed until I finally get up just after 7:00 in the morning.

I’d finished my morning reading by the time Kathy got up just after 8:00. She really knows how to sleep in too! Watching The Weather Network while having our breakfast showed that we will definitely be back into the hot summer temperatures for the next week which will also increase our risk for thunderstorms.

Back at the computers a few more bloggers managed to write and we did a little more research. Around 10:00 Kathy went to do some reading in the other room while I managed to get in my workout that I didn’t do yesterday. I actually got in nearly two hours of exercise before Kathy called me for lunch.

Once we’d enjoyed our soup and sandwich I definitely needed to freshen up so Kathy went back to her reading while I had a shower. By the time I went back to the living room Kathy had found a movie that we’d never seen. During the commercials we were discussing what I’d be grilling on the Weber for supper. Just before the movie ended thunder started rolling in and the rain started coming down in driving sheets. We watched the 6 o’clock News and the continuing storm out the balcony door.

Since I’d be unable to grill supper in the rain we ended up wearing our raincoats and going to A&W where using a coupon we enjoyed a tasty meal. As we were about to return to the apartment the rain stopped and the sun came out for the first time today. Since we’d defrosted some nice fish fillets for supper and had to put them in the fridge guess what we’ll be having for supper tomorrow evening. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Overcharge Refunds.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After having another wonderful night’s sleep we managed to sleep until nearly 8:30 this morning. While watching The Weather Network as we ate breakfast they forecasted rain for our area so we made plans to get caught up on things around the apartment. The first thing was to get caught up on reading E-mails and the morning RV Blogs we follow.

Next I made the necessary phone call to Bell informing them that we’d no longer be using their Internet services which meant we no longer needed a house line as well. Last evening the tech from the cable company installed their modem which will cost us less than the bell system and we will no longer be paying for a phone line we only use for the Internet. That will save us nearly a hundred dollars a month alone.

Kathy started doing her bookkeeping on the spreadsheet that she uses for keeping track of our budget. Due to the power being shut off yesterday in the building so the electrical could be upgraded she had a small pile of entries to make. In the process of reviewing the receipts she noticed a couple of overcharges. We were double charged for two different items and they were both from different Walmart stores in the area. Kathy normally always double checks the receipts before we leave the stores but since we’d been rushing around this week she hadn’t done it.

Once we’d finished lunch we were on the road visiting those two Walmart stores again. At each of the service desks I had no problem getting our payments reimbursed to our debit card. One associate said they’d had a lot of those double billings lately. Now imagine lots of people don’t double check their bills and could be paying way more than they should. One of our items was a gift and was not cheap. An expensive mistake!

For supper tonight we enjoyed a tasty Hawaiian pizza grilled on the Weber on low and slow. Having taken it out of the freezer an hour before hand it only took fifteen minutes on the grill. As of this writing we haven’t had any rain today.

Kathy and I would like to welcome our latest blog followers John and Bridget from the blog Travels of John and Bridget. They’ve been Full Timing with their dog Fred since April 1st 2010 traveling all over the US. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Using Valuable Time and Visiting at Cornfest.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night Kathy had a fairly good night’s sleep while I struggled to sleep. Still I was wide awake and out of bed by 7:00 this morning which meant that Kathy soon followed into the dining room. That was bad in one sense but good in another. We were notified that the electric power to the building was going to be shut off at 9:00 this morning and could take up to six hours to fix. This all had to do with the breaker that could not take the load when everyone was running their Air Conditioners during the extremely warm days of early summer.

We managed to eat breakfast and be driving out of the parking lot by 8:50. There was no use sitting around not being able to use our computers so we ran some errands. Our first stop was Motor City Credit Union to cash our reimbursement cheque sent to us from our Health Care Provider. Taking only five minutes to do that we continued to our Optometrist office to have my computer glasses repaired. The other day I went to put them on and the left lens fell out due to a suddenly missing screw. Five minutes later my glasses were repaired at no charge and we were once again on the move.
Even Elvis stopped in to enjoy some corn on the cob.
We wanted to do some walking but not at the mall so we went to the westside Walmart. We walked for quite some time and even managed to mark a few other things off our gift list. Yes we are still at it being much later than most years. By 10:30 we were ready to leave but needed a snack so we stopped at the in store McDonalds where we each had a Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Chip Cookie. That helped recharge our energy levels allowing us to do more walking. Our next stop was the Wholesale Club grocery store. This is a great place to shop if you are a business such as a store or small restaurant or if you need to stock up on certain items. They don’t have the variety of a typical grocery store but they deal with bulk items and there’s no membership fee.
Taken early the crowds started filling the park after 5:00.
After heading back to the apartment we were still in the dark but Kathy managed to make lunch with what light she had. We then spent part of the afternoon with Kathy reading and I busied myself solving Cryptograms. At 2:45 the power came on just short of the six hour estimate and the fridge and freezer immediately started pumping away.

Now we decided to run a few more errands. Our first stop was the Dollar Store for some inexpensive supplies. Then we drove to the local Home Hardware where using a coupon I was able to have our propane cylinder refilled with a forty percent savings.

Once we’d returned the cylinder to the apartment Kathy and I drove over to LaCasse Park where the town of Tecumseh was holding its annual Tecumseh Cornfest. Because this was Friday the opening day Seniors paid half price for parking, got into the park FREE and could eat their fill of hot corn on the cob FREE. The corn was cooked perfectly, lightly buttered and was still very juicy. Kathy and I each had only two because we know what happens if one gets carried away. We continued walking around the park checking vendors and the amusement rides for the children. There are live bands that are hired to entertain the crowds and they even have Big Name entertainers every year on Saturday night. All the proceeds earned by this event help to support parks and sports arenas for the local children. We also managed to bump into Moe and his wife Sherry while there. Moe and I worked together for over thirty years.

We were back home to see the weather forecast on the 6 o’clock News. Word is we are going back to real summer temperatures starting tomorrow.  Moe phoned me back with some information that he wanted to share with me. Now I have more research to do along with a few concerns. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Changes Completed.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We didn’t have to go anywhere this morning but for some reason we were both up eating breakfast by 7:30 this morning. Yes we slept with the windows wide open last night and we slept very soundly. That helped us to get on our computers earlier.

Shortly after10:00 I was getting the laundry sorted with plans for other chores throughout the day. Between starting the wash and returning to start drying the clothes I managed to get additional online research in for the Windsor area. Kathy also made certain that I had a healthy lunch before I returned downstairs to fold the clothes.

When I later returned Kathy had managed to vacuum the entire apartment in my absence. Now it was time for her to have a rest and read a book. I used that time to once again get some exercising in. An hour after I’d started working out there was a knock on the door. Dan the building manager had a package that had been dropped off at the office because it was sent to us without an apartment number.

We had finished eating supper by 5:15 just before we had another visitor. Tony arrived to change our internet modem. By converting to a cable modem we will again reduce our Bell bill and the cost of this modem is far less than the other one plus we’ll no longer need the phone line. It took Tony fifteen minutes to hook things up and get our computers set up but when we told him about going south for the winter he needed more information. His folks have been seriously thinking about getting an RV for themselves and doing the same thing. It was nice hearing there are more like minded people in this world.

Tomorrow the building will be shutting off our power at 9:00 in the morning so they can finally upgrade the main electrical panel and replace the faulty breaker. That means that we’ll be finding something to entertain ourselves with for a number of hours. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Health Care.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

As most of our readers know there is a Federal Election taking place in Canada at this time and sometimes you just have to get involved with politics or you will get buried by it. This morning Kathy and I were up early so we could attend a political meeting. We fortunately were there early enough to find first a parking spot then a seat. The start of the meeting had to be delayed as the traffic trying to get into the parking lot was backed up the road a half mile. The delay allowed for those people to hear the entire meeting from start to finish. The subject for the meeting is something we Canadians are proud to have but must now fight for because under our current government Steven Harper and the Conservatives it is being torn apart. For this post I’ll simply use the words of reporter Derek Spalding of the Windsor Star.

Health care has so far been a silent issue in the federal election campaign, but one of Canada’s most powerful unions cranked up the volume Wednesday at Windsor’s Ciociaro Club.

The event may have been billed as a non-partisan rally, but the messages from Unifor executives and health experts repeatedly slammed Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservative party for its policies on the country’s health care system.
Picture from the Windsor Star.
Yes that room held 3,500 people.
More than 3,500 seniors and union loyalists crammed into the Ciociaro Club listening to speeches from national Unifor president Jerry Dias, Dr. Ryan Meili of Canadian Doctors of Medicare and Natalie Mehra of the Ontario Health Coalition.

“Windsor is sending a message,” Mehra told a packed house. “It will change the outcome of this election.”

Dias agreed that many of the speeches crossed well over the line of partisanship, but he does not apologize for any of the criticisms thrown at Harper and his Conservative government.

“It’s a non-partisan event, but it’s hard to talk about health care without talking politics,” he said. “It’s all about choices. The type of health care we have in this country will be a choice of government and we’ve seen what’s happened for the last nine or 10 years under this government.”

This is definitely something we will fight to hold on to. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Changing Weather, Detailed Lists and Followers.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It felt great sleeping with the windows slightly open again last night. Due to the very strong and cool northwest wind we were also experiencing we had to partially close the windows in order to avoid having to pull up the blankets throughout the night. As usual I was up shortly after 8:00 and by the time I’d reopened the windows and drapes Kathy was following me into the dining room.

Even the Weather Network is surprised how different areas of Canada are presently experiencing Fall like weather conditions in the middle of August the way we are right now. The last couple of weeks our area has experienced temperatures well above normal that felt closer to the century mark. The last few days our temps have been far below the norm and there are still a few more to come. Today’s temperature only reached 63 F (17 C) and we managed to get a light shower that was not in the forecast. The extended forecast however shows the warm temperatures will be back with a vengeance next week.

After our morning reading I managed to complete a detailed list of Kathy’s medications and vitamins that includes a description and picture of each pill. It also gives a detailed description of what each pill’s purpose is and when she takes them. The reason for this is not only personal knowledge but every time you need to see a different doctor the first thing they want to know is what medication you are taking. This saves us time and aggravation by simply having an easy to read hard copy available when we need it.

Once we’d finished lunch Kathy was finally able to reach her Cardiologist’s receptionist. She had tried earlier this morning without any success. She needs to know which of her medications she needs to stop taking and how long before her upcoming Cardiac Tests. With that out of the way she went to read a book in the other room. I managed to motivate myself enough to exercise for nearly an hour. Like I’ve said before I feel better when I workout but always put chores in front of my own well-being.

Kathy and I would like to welcome our latest blog followers Hong Long and Budhi and Cyndi. We were unable to find a post for Hong Long but we find a blog post New Beginnings with Budhi and Cyndi who are preparing to go Fulltime in their Class C Motor Home. I do apologize for it taking so long for making this announcement but there is a problem with Blogger’s Followers List. Each time I attempt to read a follower’s profile the list closes up. Another Change To Come.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Because of the heavy rain yesterday we had to close the windows to keep it out. The problem with that was it didn’t take long before the temperature started to get uncomfortably warm and with the forecasts that was calling for more rain throughout the night. We finally had to turn on the Air Conditioning even though it’s just not the same sleeping with the windows closed but we had no choice.

As soon as I was up this morning I shut the AC and started opening the windows. The outside temperature had dropped dramatically overnight and the wind had picked up so much I needed to close the dining room window to stay comfortable. By the time we finished breakfast the sky started clouding up making the breeze blowing in the windows downright cold. This is the middle of August isn’t it?

Once we’d done our morning computer reading we both started doing more research towards lowering our operating costs in the apartment. With the information we needed in hand we took a break for lunch. Kathy was busy in the kitchen baking a Lemon Meringue Pie when she found out the hard way you can’t use artificial sweeteners to make the Meringue. I soon was off to the Metro Grocery Store to rectify that problem. I was only gone twenty minutes but by the time I returned Kathy had already made lunch.

After eating and washing the dishes we both had things we needed to do and one I had to do was make phone calls. Striking out on the first we went to Plan B. By the time that call was completed we had made another appointment for saving us more cash that we’ll be able to use for traveling. Every penny counts you know!

Supper tonight tasted great especially the Lemon Meringue Pie and with the cold breeze blowing through the apartment we might even have to close the windows a bit for the night. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Busy Visiting.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It was another great night for sleeping with the windows wide open yet I kept waking every hour only to turn over and go back to sleep. We slept until just after 8:00 this morning and had a very relaxed breakfast before going to read on the computers. Once I’d finished my reading I started typing up a list of the channels we now have on the cable television and a description of the type of programming on each. The only thing we had up to this time is the television guide we got by purchasing the newspaper and we needed to use a magnifying glass to be able to read it. I managed to get the list made and was half finished reviewing it with the guide on the television adding some channels that were missing to the list and removing the channels of foreign language services before Kathy started serving lunch.

Once lunch was finished we headed across town to Hotel Dieu Hospital to visit with our friends Vera and Bill. Bill had taken a spill a while back and bumped his head on a curb that later led to a loss of balance. Tests later showed he had bleeding on the brain. The first surgery was not successful in relieving the problem so the surgery was repeated. Unfortunately since the second operation Bill has lost the ability to see clearly and to speak in complete sentences. We learned that with daily therapy he is slowly regaining his motor skills. He was all smiles when we’d tease him and encourage him to making a full recovery. That might not be such an easy task for someone of Bill’s age. We also gave Vera some much needed encouragement dealing with their everyday lives by herself.

Our daughter Karen had called this morning inviting us for barbecued burgers for supper tonight. So after leaving the hospital we made a stop at the Metro Grocery Store to pick up a nice Black Forest Cake to bring as dessert. Leaving the grocery store we thought that we’d stop at our apartment before going over to Karen’s. We’d pulled into our parking lot before realizing we’d be home for less than ten minutes so we just kept driving out the other driveway.

When we arrived at their home we sat outside under their gazebo talking with Karen and Greg. Soon Kathy and Karen went inside while Greg started grilling the burgers and stuffed peppers on the Weber Charcoal Grill that he’d started earlier. It wasn’t long and everything was ready to eat. If you think grilling food makes it taste great you should taste it cooked on a charcoal grill. It is unbelievably delicious! The food the conversation and the company were all great. Looking outside and seeing the sky filling with dark storm clouds soon had us giving our thanks for supper and leaving for home.

We barely made inside before the rain started coming down with such force it could easily clean any dirt on the vehicles. Kathy had just finished taking an early shower when there was a crack of thunder so loud it made her come running out of the bedroom. To me it sounded like someone shooting off a gun right behind me. Tomorrow we have lots to get done. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Back to Cable and Out and About.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It was another wonderful night for sleeping with the windows wide open last night. Unfortunately Kathy who normally sleeps soundly like that only had a so-so night’s sleep. Most RV’ers would say she had a Pretravel night but we weren’t going anywhere. The problem was that we had an open ended appointment today that was for anywhere between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. With the appointed time being that specific Kathy didn’t want to sleep in. She actually woke me up this morning when she jumped out of bed at 7:33.

We got dressed before having breakfast and had the dishes washed before we sat at the computers at 8:15. Surprisingly at 10:24 there was a knock on the door and the cable installer was here to reactivate our cable television that we’d given up over three years ago for satellite. Martin had the connection outside of our apartment changed, removed the old Bell satellite boxes, reconnected both our televisions to cable and showed me how to use it all within twenty minutes. It will take us time to get used to the channels so we can watch our favorite shows because the numbers are different. We’ve already noticed a big improvement on many of those channels and we can even use our VCR/DVD player that we couldn’t do while connected to satellite.

Shortly after Martin had left while I was attempting to show Kathy how to use the new remote I managed to lose the connection and no matter what I did it would not reconnect. Finally I called for technical support but I was on hold for nearly five minutes when I hit the same buttons as before and everything came on the screen crystal clear. Needless to say I hung up immediately and went about doing other chores.

I ran a quick errand to the Metro Grocery Store for some supplies Kathy needed to finish our lunch. After eating I was immediately on the phone with Bell canceling our television service with them. Of course that’s when they start offering you all kinds of discounts in order to keep your business. They should give long time customers discounts as a thank you for being good clients then they wouldn’t lose customers.

Later Kathy and I drove to Staples to get another ink cartridge for her printer. This also helped us to get some walking exercise in. From Staples we headed to Walmart to do more walking and get additional groceries. We also made a quick stop at the Dollar Store for a few things.

Since we haven’t refilled our empty propane cylinder since yesterday Kathy baked a beautiful Salmon Filet in the oven for supper. It didn’t have the same taste it would have had on the Weber but it still tasted great. Not sure what we’ll be up to tomorrow but it should be a busy day. Holding Off On More Changes.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We both managed to have a mostly restful sleep until Kathy had to get up in the middle of the night. It then took her a couple of hours before she fell back to sleep. She did manage to be fully awake by the time we finished eating breakfast. We spent the majority of the day researching a great variety of items including a number of phone carrier options. In the end even after making a number of calls to talk with company representatives we still remain in search mode.

After preheating the grill for supper when it came time to grill a pizza I returned to find a cold Weber. Bad timing for the propane tank to go empty. With a slight delay the pizza was cooked in the oven but still came out tasty. Tomorrow we’ll start with the first change before moving on to anything else new. Slow Changes.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Both Kathy and I took a regular strength Tylenol before going to bed last night since we both had a few aches and pains. That definitely helped us both fall asleep shortly after our heads hit the pillows. By 2:00 this morning I was laying wide awake staring at the ceiling until I finally got out of bed at 3:30. Still feeling the same body aches as before I tried another Tylenol and returned to bed where I tossed around for another hour before going to sit at my computer. I played a game that normally tires me out for nearly an hour before returning to bed again. Luckily I didn’t toss around as much and looked at the clock for the last time at 5:55. When I again looked at the clock the sun was seeping into the bedroom and the clock read 8:12. I got things ready to make breakfast then started my morning computer reading. At 9:11 Kathy emerged from the bedroom. At breakfast she said she slept soundly all night which helped to make up for the lack of sleep from the last couple of days.

After finishing our reading at the computers we once again started making phone calls for a less expensive alternative to our single cost bundle we had through the Bell network. Today we were much luckier than yesterday and even though we’ll have multiple bills in the coming months we’ll start seeing real savings within the first month. Sometime during the day on Saturday we’ll once again be reconnected to Cable that both Kathy and I had previously used for nearly thirty years.

While I finished making the arrangements for that Kathy busied herself making a wonderful Tuna and Fruit salad for our lunch. Not only was it delicious but was more than filling enough to tide us over until we’d have our supper.

After cleaning our dishes we were on our way to run a few errands. The first was the Local Union Office where with Kathy’s help I dropped off a box of old computer hardware for the Computers for Kids program. This is a non-profit organization run by volunteers from the local that take old computers fix them up and set them up in community centers for kids that can’t afford personal computers to use. Many of the larger companies in the area that replace their computers donate to this program because it keeps them out of the landfills. What computers or electronics (radios and televisions) that can’t be made usable are disassemble and recycled. The monies earned from the recycling helps to cover operating costs of the program. All in all it is a win win for everybody including the environment.

Since the Humidex was still in the upper 80s today we drove to the Devonshire Mall for some indoor walking exercise. We managed to walk the entire mall twice and checked out a few new stores that had just opened their doors. At 4:30 we went to the food court where we used a coupon at KFC and each had a three piece chicken dinner with fries, Cole slaw and a drink for $12.99. The meal was tasty and filling we didn’t have dishes to wash and we got to people watch while we had our meal.

Normally every Wednesday evening we head out to Amherstburg to visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. However Melissa had to work overtime yesterday because she is the only person from her group at work not on vacation and things were starting to pile up. Because our plans are flexible we waited until tonight to go visit. As usual we always have plenty to talk about and always enjoy our visits.

With our area going into a cool down for the next couple of days as soon as we got home the AC went off and the windows got opened. Tomorrow I’ll be making more phone calls in order to lower our monthly phone bills and save us more money for our travels. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Changes on Hold.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We both slept like a couple of bumps on a log last night but because it will take Kathy a few days to recover from her missed medications from Monday it was understandable the she managed to also sleep later this morning. She felt better rested and some of the pain in her shoulders has dissipated.

Once breakfast was over we did our usual reading before we started making phone calls. Yesterday I wrote about looking for ways to save money by finding alternate phone/internet providers and television carriers as well. We managed to get the information that we need but we’d have to come up with a prepay before getting the service. What that boils down to is more research before we commit to new services.

After lunch Kathy went online to do some banking and some of our accounts were asking for information that she had never seen before. When she tried doing it the usual way they locked up so we spent more time on the phone getting that issue straightened around.

For supper I simply grilled hotdogs on the Weber but I’d no sooner gone inside the apartment when torrents of rain started coming down. By the time we’d eaten and washed the dishes the rain had stopped and all that remained were water puddles in the parking lot. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Looking at Changes.

Kathy and I both seemed to have a restless night last night but for Kathy it was much worse. No we didn’t have any weird calls in the middle of the night but at 8:38 this morning we received another wrong number call which definitely woke Kathy. (For years we didn’t have any of those calls and now we seem to be making up for it?) Kathy had just told me about her lousy night as we’re sitting down at the dining room table when I spotted our pill daucette. We had been watching the news when we had our supper and neither of us had taken our evening medications with our meal. Now it will take days before Kathy’s meds will take the pain from her shoulders.

With a heavy cloud cover and light rain falling after breakfast we spent the morning reading and working at the computers. Kathy was doing research for things to do on our trip south this winter while I was reviewing one of the pages on the blog and trying to remember how to make changes to it. It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly four years since I created it.

After lunch we worked together researching a different phone carrier as well as the local cable company. When we first moved into our apartment we got into a contract with Bell that bundled our television, phone, internet and cell phones together and were shown it would reduce our costs. Unfortunately that was a three year contract and they lied as our costs have nearly doubled since then. Armed with the information we found online today we’ll be making some inquisitive calls tomorrow before we make any changes.

Every year we discourage our children from giving us personal gifts at Christmas because we probably already have one or have already gotten rid of one. What we encourage them to give us is gift cards for the movies or any of the many restaurants around. We don’t use them all at once but spread them out over the coming year. Tonight we used one of those gift cards and went out to the Sandbar Bar and Grill for our supper. Kathy had already looked online at their daily special and found out they were serving Rib-eye steak. We sat inside the Air Conditioned dining room and savored every bite of our meals cooked just the way we like them. It was Delicious!

Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be more comfortable so we might get more outdoor activities accomplished. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Co-worker: Today I'm celebrating five happy years here at J.C. Dithers & Co.!

Dagwood: Five years? It seems to me you've been here more like twenty-five years.

Co-worker: Twenty-eight, to be exact. Strung together, it rounds off to about five happy ones.

Dagwood (toasting with water cooler cup): Well, here's to you and another five!

Hot Chores.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night we had no middle of the night phone calls from some intoxicated unknown wanting a ride from his buddy that did not live at our address. We managed to get a well deserved restful night’s sleep and we managed to sleep until after 8:00 this morning. The Weather Network again showed just how hot it was going to be outside today so we chose to make accomplishments inside the apartment.

We followed our morning routine of reading at the computers before moving on to other things. I started by stripping our bed linens and gathering the rest of the laundry. By the time I had it all assorted Kathy had made us an early lunch. Once we’d finished washing our luncheon dishes I headed down to the laundry room. One thing about our building is that everyone controls their own comfort level in their apartments. As soon as you get into the hallways it feels like someone has turned on the heat and yet the laundry room felt cooler than the hallway even with the washers and dryers running.

Retreating back to the apartment to cool down during the time the washers and dryers were working their magic also helped me to catch my breath. I found Kathy busy wrapping the latest gifts that we’d purchased. This makes it much easier to conceal if we have unexpected company and it’s not left for a time when we are busy getting things ready for our winter travels.

When I returned from folding our laundry the clothes I was wearing were on the damp side and I really needed to cool off. While I sat for a few minutes Kathy warmed our supper which she had precooked the other day when she was in one of her cooking modes. Everything tasted great and after we watched the 6 o’clock News I finally got around to remaking our bed. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
