Sinus problems and Mall Walking Anniversary.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Not long after laying down to sleep last night Kathy was no longer able to stay in bed. She was experiencing a sinus congestion that would not allow her to breathe through her nose and no matter what kind of spray she used. Since her mask for her CPAP is the nose pad style it just wasn’t working so around 1:00 she went and sat in the recliner in the living room.
Having been through this kind of thing before years ago when I first sensed her absence I just went back to sleep but another thirty minutes later I went in search of her to be certain everything was okay. At this point I knew nothing about her sinus problem and just thought she couldn’t get comfortable enough in the bed to sleep. I found her asleep in the reclined but not laying position so I just went back to bed. Without trying I was up every two hours to check on her and each time found her sleeping soundly.
Kathy finally heard the kettle switch shutting off while I was making our breakfast. This is where I learned of her problem while we were eating breakfast. We made plans to go to the Devonshire Mall after lunch to do some mall walking and people watching in an Air Conditioned Climate. We sat reading on the computers after breakfast for a while and then Kathy disappeared. When I found her she was catching up on some of her lost sleep.
As planned after eating our lunch we headed over to do some mall walking. We started at one end of the mall until we had slowly worked our way around the entire building. Since this is the time of year to find sandals in my size I purchased a new pair to have as backups until the ones I am wearing are worn out. We also stopped for a snack at the food court since we had been walking for nearly three hours by then and we’d only had soup for lunch.
Two hours we were back at our apartment where we warmed up some barbecued chicken with broccoli and sweet potato fries for supper. Once we finished doing the dishes we headed over to our daughter Karen’s for our Sunday night visit. We didn’t stay too long because Kathy was really starting to feel tired.
Twelve Happy Years Today.
For this being our 12th Wedding Anniversary it was low keyed but the important part was that we spent it doing things we like together. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

A Day of Special Occasions.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

This morning we were both up by 8:00 and felt totally rested even after having watched the 11 o’clock news last night. Again it was raining fairly steady all through the night and it took until noon for the cloud covering to finally clear.
After breakfast we went to the computers to do our usual blog and E-mail reading before moving on to other things. One of those things we are tracking on the computer is our data usage on our Turbo Hub. When we had the DSL high speed modem for our internet connection we left the computers on day and night so they were always ready when we needed them and it didn’t cost us anything extra for it. The charge for our Turbo Hub works on a graduating scale and the more data transfer the more we pay. When Kathy checked our usage the other day we couldn’t believe how high our data usage was. So since the other night we have been shutting them down at night and even during the day if we are not working on the computers. Time will tell if there is a flaw in the system or possibly someone has hacked into our secured connection.
This afternoon we finally got a call that we’d been waiting for from our son Gary. His family was down today because Jen our daughter-in-law’s sister Melissa was having a baby shower. So we decided to meet them for a short visit at the Tim Horton’s just around the corner from us. We got big hugs from both our grandsons Connor and Haigan just for seeing them as a fact Haigan launched himself up at grandpa because normally I pick him up high. After explaining grandpa couldn’t do it right now because of the surgery he was okay but played a little bashful. We also celebrated a belated birthday for Haigan who turned 6 on Wednesday. It was sad when they had to go and worst because I forgot the camera today so we didn’t get any pictures.
Once they had left we needed to run a couple of errands. One was a quick stop at the dollar store and the next was a stop at Walmart to get some groceries we were running low on. Luckily I had brought in a couple of our insulated bags to carry the frozen and refrigerated foods in because it was plenty hot outside. Our next stop was back at the apartment where we unloaded the groceries and got the perishables put away before going out for supper.
We headed over to the Michigan Diner on Manning Road where between the hours of 3 pm and 6 pm every day we can eat off a seniors menu at a reduced cost. Their senior’s portions are slightly less than the regular menu but we still couldn’t eat it all and ended up with a take home container. They also have a nice 50’s/60’s atmosphere that we always enjoy. We were also celebrating our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary a day early today. We had many trials before we ever met and many challenges that we have faced together but neither of us would ever want it any other way.
With Love and a solid relationship we will continue enjoying the good things life has to offer us. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Watching the Storms Roll In.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

The sound of the rain outside our window helped the both of us sleep very soundly as a fact we slept so well it was nearly 8:30 by the time we got up to have breakfast. As usual we had our breakfast of coffee and toast while watching the Weather Channel where they again predicted miserable weather. What was different was we didn’t go sit at the computers after finishing breakfast today.
Kathy hauled out the laundry hamper to the living room for me because of the weight restriction the surgeon has imposed on me lifting at this time. Once everything was sorted and checked for stains I was heading down to the laundry room before 10:00 and Kathy was already starting the dusting.
With this being the start of the long weekend here in Canada I had thought that the place would be empty but I was wrong. Many of the people who were down there were just getting their laundry done before heading out for the long weekend so it took a little extra time to get it done but it’s not like I have to go back to work next week. It will also be a few weeks before we go anywhere because I’m still in the healing process.
By the time I had everything into the dryers it was time for lunch. When I got back to the apartment Kathy had just finished vacuuming and was starting to make soup for our lunch. While we were eating and talking the sounds of thunder was being heard in the distance and by the time I’d returned to the laundry room the rain was coming down so hard we won’t have to worry about cleaning the truck or the car for awhile.
These storm clouds were almost as bad as the ones  we had today.

When I returned with all the laundry folded Kathy told me how she’d been on the phone with Melissa our daughter-in-law for nearly twenty minutes that had the both of them laughing. We also took the time to watch a mystery movie because the rain was still coming down well over two hours after it started and even though we had planned on doing more store walking we just didn’t feel like walking out in the rain.
The movie ended just before we sat down for supper. The weather is also supposed to improve throughout the rest of the weekend so we won’t be letting any dust settle on us. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Computers and Mall Walking.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We were both up shortly after 8:00 this morning but we both seemed to be dragging most of the day. We are fairly sure that it is a side effect of the different medications that we are both on. Again we watched the Weather Channel while having our cereal and coffee for breakfast. Again the temperatures were posted to be in the scorching zone filled with on and off thundershowers throughout the day.
At the computers we found more bloggers that we follow had posted catch up blogs because they have been too busy to post what they’ve been up to. By 11:00 Kathy who is a faster reader than me had gone to the kitchen to do some baking. A short time later she felt bad about asking me to help her for a few minutes because her hands couldn’t stir the ingredients the way she needed to. I keep telling her I really don’t mind because it helps for me to learn something other than industrialized work that is beneficial to the both of us including our stomachs.
After lunch I continued working on the computer while Kathy was again doing research on her machine. Eventually our eyes were starting to get heavy from looking at the screens and our bodies were starting to ache from the inactivity of sitting at the computers so we decided to go mall walking. Even this soon after the surgery I am in more discomfort from lack of movement than when we are out walking around.
Since it is only a week since I got out of the hospital Kathy didn’t want me over doing it so we went to the Tecumseh Mall which is only a quarter the size of the Devonshire Mall. Being able to park closer to the building and taking our time also made it less of a strain on me. Today just like we did on Tuesday we ran across things that we know will be practical Christmas gifts. People ask how can you be shopping for that when its 181 days away? Simple it fits the bill for that certain person we are buying it for and we generally get it on sale that is way less than what the inflated prices will be before the holidays and we won’t have to fight the crowds to do our shopping. We also are very practical in our shopping getting only things that we know the person will use.
When we came out of the Mall the storm clouds were rolling in and our lunch had long worn off so we headed to Taco Bell for a light but filling supper. As we arrived back at the apartment it was starting to drizzle that eventually turned to the thundershowers that were predicted. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Hot Day for Visits.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After watching the 11 o’clock news last night we finished watching a program that finished at midnight before going to sleep. We were both wide awake by 8:00 this morning before having our coffee and toast for breakfast while watching the Weather Channel which predicted scorching hot temperatures with thunderstorms all day for our area.

With that kind of prediction we figured we’d stay in most of the day until we really needed to go out so we spent the morning on the computers reading all the usual morning blogs as well as a few that haven’t posted in a while and were posting a major catch-up post of a couple of weeks all in one post.

After lunch we went over to visit with our granddaughter Kylla who graduated from high school last night. We had been invited to attend but because of the pain that I was experiencing at my incision we didn’t make it which surprised Kylla because we have never missed any of the important occasions in her life. She explained to us how she kept looking for us in the crowds and especially looking for me taking pictures like I normally do. She did miss us but was glad that I was doing better today.
We stopped back at the apartment where we cooked a pizza in the oven because Kathy said it was too hot outside to do it on the Weber Q. This was the first time that we’ve had a rising crust pizza like this and we couldn’t finish it so we’ll have some for lunch tomorrow.
In the last two years Matthew has grown at least a foot.

Since this is Wednesday we headed to Amherstburg to visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. We haven’t seen Kevin for two weeks because I had my surgery last Wednesday. Melissa had stopped over to visit us on her lunch break on Friday to see how I was doing. We also brought along our grandson Matthew’s birthday gift. He loves to learn new things so he was very happy with the choice of reading that we got for him.
My incision hardly bothered me today because Kathy insisted that I use the Ibuprofen the surgeon had prescribed to me after the surgery which helps to reduce swelling so I have had a fairly comfortable day. We did have the high temperatures that were predicted but the thunderstorms avoided the area. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Patients, Patients.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night I left no precautions out of making certain that I’d safely get to bed without further injury to myself. Again the pain that was caused by that simple act of lying down continued to help my body want to sleep for the purpose of healing itself. By 8:00 this morning we were both up for a breakfast of toast and coffee and watching the Weather Channel while we ate only to confirm that it was going to be another scorcher today.
The Hot Springs in Thermopolis Wyoming is where Kathy would like to be.
Shortly after 9:00 we were on our way to Kathy’s family doctor as she wanted to see how Kathy was doing on her new medication. We arrived before the appointed time so they simply took Kathy in earlier. The doctor not pleased with Kathy’s lack of response to the medication chose to raise her dosage which confused Kathy somewhat.  So she asked me to explain to the doctor exactly what her present dosage was because I do up her medication Doucette and her dosage change has to be increased or decreased in gradual increments.
Deselate Beauty.
After leaving there we made a few more stops at Vehicle Venture and at Staples both of which proved fruitless. It was now after 11:00 so we stopped at A&W where we used another two for one coupons that allowed us to eat for ten dollars.
Perfect setting for a cabin.

By the time we stopped at the Shoppers Drug Mart for Kathy’s added dosage of her medication Kathy noticed that I was in pain. The burning and pain to the incision had not stopped since Sunday night and I was starting to wonder if I might have done some serious damage to the incision. She had me sit while we waited for the prescription to be filled.
As soon as we were in the apartment Kathy had me call the surgeon’s office. I explained what had happened to the receptionist and was told to come in before 5:00 today. I got washed up and was sitting at the computer reading all the morning blogs that I hadn’t gotten to yet when the phone rang. It was the surgeon’s receptionist asking me how fast I could get there.
Kathy and I were out the door in less than five minutes thinking that if the surgeon wanted to see me that fast something could possibly be terribly wrong. It seemed as if all the traffic lights were on our side and we were across town and pulling into the doctor’s parking lot in less than ten minutes. After only a ten minute wait the surgeon who just walked in from the hospital came into the examining room. Again repeating what I’d done and a close examination of the incision he explained what he had done and what probably happened the other night.
Feeling a sense of relief knowing what I was experiencing should be considered normal we decided to eat out. Again we used a two for eleven dollars and we each had a three piece chicken meal at KFC and we were very full by the time we left.
With more time on our hands we went next door to Walmart where Kathy was just looking for ideas for Christmas Gifts. She was finding what she was looking for and on sale to top it off; but she said it was too early to start her shopping. I told her that it would cost her more as the date got closer so why wait besides we have a Christmas account that money from every pay-cheque we get goes into the account. So with only 183 days until Christmas we have officially started our shopping. You can never start too early, now can you?
Tomorrow should be slightly less busy. With everything we have to do it makes you wonder how we accomplished anything while we were working. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Falling Into Place.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Something must be wrong because it only took one bad night of sleep for me to get a decent one. Normally I have three or four in a row before succumbing to my body’s desire to actually sleep. Unfortunately I believe that the added pain I was experiencing might just have helped me sleep as a way of healing. I guaranteed Kathy that I would follow the doctor’s orders of taking it easy so that would help my healing faster for us to be able to enjoy our traveling again sooner. The problem was I did something we all do every night I laid down on the bed. There were no fancy acrobatic moves just a simple sit down then pull my legs up and lay down. For a few moments I thought that I’d ripped open the entire incision from the pain I was experiencing but when Kathy checked under my shirt there were no visible signs of a problem.
I slept until nearly 8:00 this morning and the pain continued through most of the day. The Weather Channel continued to show the damage cause by flooding out west and then they also showed how our area is under a heat advisory for the remainder of the week. With temperatures feeling like they were over the century mark our decision to stay inside unless we really needed to go out was made. We spent most of the morning working on our computers and we both managed to finish our blog reading and other computer work long before lunch.
Right after we had finished eating our lunch the Ford Dealership called telling us that the truck was ready to go. So I ran the car around to the front lobby with the AC cranked to cool it down because this kind of air quality makes it difficult for Kathy to breath. When we got to the dealership we cruised the service lot to see where it was parked and couldn’t find it. When we went inside the service manager looked at the bill and said it was parked right behind the building but neither Kathy nor I had seen it. It made us think if we couldn’t see our own vehicle and we were looking for it that the two people who had at different times backed into it with their vehicles had said the same thing, they hadn’t seen it parked there. Maybe this is the script for a new Si-Fi. Kathy headed for home in the car and the service manager had the truck brought near the service door for me because they knew that I’d just had surgery.
I made another stop to pick up my welding machine that I had dropped off for service last week as well. By the time I got home Kathy was watching an old western classic with Allen Ladd that she found while surfing the channel guide while waiting for my arrival. Only minutes after sitting down to watch it the phone rings and it was Bell telephone. Any time you speak to a tech or service manager the conversations are recorded and the representative is also making a typed report. Remember the other day how I said the two halves of the company were like children not wanting to share a toy (our E-mail addresses). Upper management agreed that since we were still with Bell that our old Bell DSL addresses should be transferable to our Bell Turbo Hub. A sweet victory for the guy with the big mouth even after all the trouble I went to setting up our new G-mail accounts.
Tomorrow Kathy has a few appointments and we’ll get some other outings in. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Back To Normal?

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Talking about getting back to normal after having surgery would be an understatement. We barely made it through the 11 o’clock News last night before falling asleep. By 2:00 I was wide awake with my mind racing about this and that and no matter how hard I tried those thoughts would not go away. My back started to bother me so by 3:30 I was sitting at the computer with the hope I’d get tired. NOT! At 5:00 I sat in the recliner in the living room looking out the balcony doors at nothing in particular and seeing only the odd set of headlights of vehicles passing occasionally by on the expressway a half mile away. Around 6:30 my eyes were actually starting to feel heavy so I lay back in bed only to be wide awake by 8:30.
I no sooner started making our morning coffee and Kathy was awake and right behind me. We were in awe as we watched footage on the Weather Channel of flooding brought on by heavy rain systems stalled over the mountains taking place in the prairie provinces of Canada. The report is that this is the worst flooding that area has ever experienced. Wasn’t it just over a month ago that our neighbors south of the border were going through almost the same problems from the snow melt and tropical storm Andrea.
We spent most of the day on the computers. I continue to work on recording our medical appointments on a spreadsheet that I have created. This will help us in the future if we have any problems while we are travelling.
We are presently experiencing warm temperatures that combined with the high humidity feels well above the century mark in our area. Kathy decided it was too hot to barbecue or cook anything inside so we ate supper out at the Swiss Chalet. We were both well satisfied but not stuffed when we walked out their door.
We stopped at our daughter’s house around the corner for our Sunday night visit. Even though they had the Air Conditioner running they were out on the deck by the pool. Surprisingly the part of the deck that was in the shade felt cool as there was a pleasant breeze blowing through.
Back at our apartment we had another surprise. The electrical power was down in parts of the building including our apartment. Using our cell phone to call the building management they had an electrician checking our panel less than five minutes after I called. Within another ten minutes the power came on. That was a good thing because the Heatindex was still showing above the hundred degree mark and without the Air Conditioner it could have been a real problem.
Kathy and I would like to welcome two new blog followers to our site. The first is grammaSandi. Sandi Lierley has a blog post by the name of RV GRAMMA but she hasn’t written any posts to date.
