Shared Projects

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After such a wonderful visit and Mothers Day meal with family yesterday both Kathy and I seemed to have a difficult time sleeping last night. The brains just wouldn't shut down so we both slept until 9:00 this morning.
After breakfast this morning Kathy packed snacks and a picnic lunch and we headed over to Karen and Greg's to pick up the left over bags of fill stone and paver bricks so they could be returned for a refund later in the day.
Next stop was over to the storage yard so that we could accomplish a few more jobs and modifications. Upon arriving at the trailer we noticed very suspicious activity on our unit that we had not given approval to. As we parked the truck a Starling landed under the overhang of the trailer with grass in its mouth and entered the rear of the pinbox. After knocking on the pinbox to be certain there was nothing inside that would fly into my face I looked inside and was shocked to see it stuffed with grass and litter that the bird had brought in to build a nest. I started pulling everything out and could easily have filled our office trash can with all the debris. The bird however sat over on the next RV squaking disapproval of my actions. Imagine not knowing the nest was there and hooking up without a second thought and hitting the road. Better that the bird finds a better place for a nest now. Eviction notice served!
After enjoying our picnic lunch in the trailer Kathy refolded and restored the linens that we have in the trailer and rearranged other cupboards as well. I managed to mount the backup lights that I'll be wiring another day on the rear bumper. I also mounted and screwed in a clothes bracket in the rear bedroom and mounted the TV in the front bedroom. Things are starting to shape up but there is still more to do.
Around 4:00 we closed up the trailer and headed over to the coffee shop for a snack and an Ice-Cap (Iced Coffee) to help cool us down. Soon the cell phone rang and Karen was telling us that she was on her way to meet us at Rona's. So Kathy and I drove over and while I was unloading the truck Kathy went in to scout around if the had supplies we needed. By the time I had finished unloading the truck on to the cart Karen pulled up and it didn't take long to get the refund.
Strangely even though this was not as difficult a work day today both Kathy and I seemed washed out. Probably due to the lack of sleep from last night. At least things are taking shape and we are very confident that we will have everything finished for when we hit the road in 20 days and not have to worry about these things when Summer arrives in 37 days. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Our friends Sam and Donna just drove from St. Louis to Florida with a nest and three almost grown babies in their pin box! They fed the babies and set them free while in Florida. That poor momma bird never knew what happened to her babies!
