Thankful Day

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

This morning we headed out the door shortly after breakfast. We have been preparing pantry items that have to be placed in the trailer before hitting the road. We had found that not all but many of our food stocks fit into a certain sized container and seemed to make things very uniform on the shelves. Needing more of these we first went back to where we had purchased them at the local Home Hardware. Upon walking in we were surprised to see they were having a sale and the containers we wanted were part of that sale. There we stood looking at an empty store shelf that had housed at least a dozen such containers the other day.
Now we were on a mission. Off we went to another local Home Hardware again with no luck and the next was the same. Finally as we entered the last Home Hardware in the area there sitting on a shelf sat the last two containers in this area. As we picked them up another woman was asking if we really wanted them because they were just what she was looking for. DAH! No we just pick things off the shelves to hold on to.

Kathy had packed a couple of sandwiches & other things for a picnic lunch knowing we might be out past lunchtime and we still had to stop at the grocery store again today. Today we were finishing shopping for the trailer as well as stocking the pantry at home for the next month. After packing the contents of the two shopping carts into the car it seemed to be just as enlightening to the wallet today as it did a few days ago.

Needed 133 units of blood during a difficult pregnancy
Tonight we attended a little Thank You gala that was put on by the Canadian Blood Services (Red Cross). They had a very nice arrangement of snacks, cake, punch and coffee. They had doctors stressing the importance of the need for people to donate the Gift of Life. They even had a young woman whom during a troubled pregnancy required 133 units of blood over the course of seven months. She thanked everyone there for their unselflishness & willingness to donate something so simple that means so much for many. Certificates of appreciation were given to many that had reached plateaus ranging from 25 donations to over 200 donations. It was an enjoyable evening.
Over a Hundred Donations between this Husband and Wife Team

The rest of the week is not looking to be too promising weather wise but there is always something to do around here to keep the wheels of progress rolling. Besides it's only 50 days until the start of Summer so it also means that it is only 33 days before Kathy and I are back on the road. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.
