Ready For The Cooldown.

Last night was no different than what we have struggled with since the start of the year. Though I managed to pry myself out of bed early, I left Kathy to catch up on a fraction of the sleep, that I’ve inadvertently caused her to lose.

Besides getting all my reading done on the Computer. I managed to read some of the Blogs that gave me a bad case of Hitch-itch, but at this time it’s impossible to scratch.

I also managed to use lots more of the produce we have in the Fridge. For lunch we had Veggie Wraps with the Strawberries I cleaned up yesterday, for dessert today.

As soon as we cleaned up the Dishes, I cleaned up more Strawberries that we purchased yesterday. Didn’t want to lose a single one.

Since today’s Humidex was still 106 F (41 C) we did a few more things around the Apartment. Luckily, things are going to cool down to the point of being comfortable. I’m certain the Eastern States would like to hear that, as they are presently breaking hundreds of Heat Records.

We got a call from our daughter-in-law Jen, inviting us over from an impromptu Party, to celebrate Haigan’s Birthday tomorrow, instead of on Wednesday. It’s been awhile, mostly because of my discomfort. We’ll be there.

Wanting to do even more cleaning I added Cherry Tomatoes and Mushrooms to a Store-Bought, Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for supper and Kathy added Bing Cherries for dessert.

We watched a couple of Hallmark Movies to pass the evening.

Bad Bargain.

The slightly lower nighttime temperature, combined with our running the Air Conditioner until we were ready for bed helped us in respect to getting a better night’s sleep. What continues to disrupt our sleep is the non-stop discomfort I’m experiencing with my Hip/Leg Issue. Though I try to help the situation with Nighttime Mickeys, there is a belief that my body has developed immunity to what could actually help. I’m now counting down the days to the Surgery Date that is Two Months away. As others that have been through this, going through pain to get rid of Pain, is well worth it.

We had to make up for some lost sleep this morning, so it was Cereal for breakfast, with our Coffees again coming to the Computers with us. Wanting to do more Refrigerator cleaning, I first started cleaning up Strawberries that we’d only purchased a few days ago. I was surprised that some had already gone bad. The rest will make a delicious dessert in the next couple of days.

Lunch was Homemade Cheddar Tomato Soup. We purchased a different breed of Tomatoes last weekend because they were Big, Firm and “On Sale”. It took longer to blanch them and when I started to cut them up, the Core filled more than half the Tomatoes. We enjoyed the Soup that came out, but I had thought that there should have been enough for a few bowls for us to share.

There is one problem that comes with making that kind of Soup, and that is the difficulty at cleaning the Dishes afterwards.

We waited until nearly 4:00 before heading out to Guardian Storage to check for our Mail. I’m expecting something from Amazon, but it seems the Delivery Service they charged with the delivery, can’t read Shipping Instructions; “Deliver between 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, closed on weekends and holidays”. They have failed to make the delivery, Three Nights in a row after 9 pm. The delivery has yet to be made.

We stopped at Burger King, where we used coupons for Chicken Nuggets for our supper. Since the Humidex was at 108 F (42 C) we decided to eat inside.

After enjoying our meal we stopped at the Grocery Store to pick up a few food stocks we have used up, including locally grown Tomatoes.

Later we watched a Mystery Movie to fill our evening.

Inspection, Spam and Thunderstorms.

Shutting the AC before going to bed, again gave us both a more moderate night’s sleep, allowing us to wake up feeling refreshed.

Since I was up a bit before Kathy, I checked the forecast for the day only to find the Humidex was already above the Century Mark at 8:30. Putting my hand on the Balcony Door I could feel the warmth, even with an overcast sky.

We had our Toast for breakfast before going to the Computers with our Coffees. Since we were expecting someone for the Inspection we got changed before 9:00, instead of lounging. I’d finished my Blog reading by the time John the Building Maintenance Man, knocked on our door. That’s when he looked at his records to see that he already did the Inspection back when he replaced our Smoke Detector. That ended the Inspection.

I was busy deleting Spam Comments this morning. The way they infiltrate a Blog, is they comment on Older Blogs, thinking you won’t notice. When once your Computer recognizes it as a regular contributor, it will allow more of them to go through. Luckily, I have Comment Moderation set for Comments on posts older than Two Days. When I received the notices for Blogs in 2012 and 2015 from the same person, they were easy to weed out. Most times they are foreign companies that want free advertisement, or just someone needing a soapbox to spout their rhetoric.

It was already time for lunch, so I made a Bacon/Veggie Omelette that we shared.

The Clouds got thicker and by 2:00 we were hearing distant Thunder through our closed door. The Rain did not last more than Thirty Minutes but it dropped the temperature down to 75 F (24 C) in that short time. It would later reach 86 F (30 C) before dark.

It took some doing but I finally hung our Special Wedding Picture that Kathy asked me to do last week. My Hip/Leg was not bothering me as badly today, and I was able to wiggle behind our Recliners. Kathy was happy with the result.

The 6 o’clock Local News was half over, before we shared another Modified Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza, that I added Mushrooms and Extra Shredded Mozzarella Cheese to. No dessert required.

With tomorrow being the Summer Equinox, we’ll be seeing cooler days coming soon.
