Picking Up Supplies and “John Q”.

Our Location today is at Wildwood Golf and RV Park, McGregor, Ontario.

Even though I keep waking up every morning around 6:00 I can normally convince myself to go back to sleep until nearly 7:30 which for someone who is retired should be the norm. Kathy joined me downstairs just after 8:00.

We were being entertained by the Birds trying to build a nest in our Pinbox. If you have never experienced providing a nest for a brood of Birds in your RV count yourself Lucky. Fifth Wheels are made with rubber seals that surround the Pin Box at its base that are flexible so when it’s being towed down the road the outer skin is not damaged. Those same seals are just pliable enough that birds can squeeze between and build their nests. Listening to those hungry little creatures waiting to be fed is like listening to a newborn growing to a young adult on Fast Forward in a matter of weeks. It does not help if you might want to sleep in the morning because you won’t.

We managed our usual reading and chores along with a Two Cup morning before having Split Pea and Bacon Soup for lunch with a Yogurt Cup for dessert.
Facing South
By 12:30 we were on our way towards Amherstburg with a Grocery List in hand but our first stop being Sun Parlour Trailer. We bought our first RV from Rob and we needed his opinion. All new RVs are sold with Propane/Carbon Dioxide Detectors installed. Our detector has been going off a lot this past year and it is understandable if we are using Propane Utilities but most of the time we were not. They will also go off if your Battery has a low charge but we have a Battery Bank that was showing Fully Charged. Since Rob did not have the same one in stock he advised us how to replace it. We’ll let you know how that works out in another week.
When we are out and about we often get things to tide our food stocks over but generally about once a week we use our Shopping List. Today we headed to No-Frills grocery store. It took nearly an Hour to find everything we needed but we also saved ourselves a lot by shopping there with the sales they were having on their already low prices.
We then headed over to Sobey’s to purchase a few more of the Insulated Shopping Bags that they sell. These are well made that keep your purchases Warm or Cold until you get Home to unpack them.
Facing East
After getting Home we immediately put everything away to avoid any disorganization. Once that was done I walked a few things over to the Recycle Bins before walking to the Overflow Parking Area to retrieve the Truck. That is where we park it when we are expecting company so they can park on our Site but once they leave we prefer to have it where we have an easy access to it.
For supper we had a simple Garden Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing. After washing the Dishes we settled in to watch the movie “John Q.” starring Denzel Washington, Robert Duvall and James Woods. It starts out slow but things really start moving along when the Health Care System starts to be the problem. We gave it Two Thumbs Up.

Looking at the weather forecast for the next week it is starting to look more like Fall then Spring.

In closing Kathy and I would like to wish all our Female Readers a Happy Mothers Day. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. Oh yea, we would get birds nests in the hitch area. Now we have them on the back porch between the insulation and the roof. I am glad to put trash bags over the cushions on our chairs......

  3. I like the name of the grocery store "No Frills" but I like more that you can get good bargains and save a lot. We do not have grocery discount stores in Del Rio but when I go to Houston I go to "Joe V's" and save a lot.

Kathy may you have a very Happy Mother's Day.
