Short Trip and Meeting Fellow RV Bloggers.

Our Location today is Marion, North Carolina, USA.

Sometimes it pays to stay overnight in one of the smaller truck-stops as we did last night. There were fewer trucks driving by the trailer and there are so many trees around that we couldn’t hear the traffic noise from I-40. This caused us both to sleep so well that we were wide awake before 7:30 this morning. We enjoyed breakfast in our trailer and were closed up and on the highway by 8:25 this morning.

In last night’s post I mentioned that we were both tired and didn’t want to be setting up camp in the dark. By 8:50 this morning we arrived at Tom Johnson RV Rally Park after driving all of 13.1 miles. We were here to attend the first RV Dreams Reunion Rally. The first person we saw was Howard Payne (RV Dreams) and after handshakes and Hugs for Kathy he told us where to park. Before we even moved the truck Joe Segler (Joe’s Journeys) was also there to welcome us.
Me busy setting up our utilities.
Our site was right next to our friends Gerry and Sandy Bronstein whom we had traveled with in September 2011 to attend the Hersey Pennsylvania RV Dreams Rally. We spent a few minutes saying hello before Tom and Marcie Gimmarro (Roaming Free 2010) stopped in to say hello then left so we could finish getting ourselves set up. By noon we had everything inside and outside of the trailer set up the way we needed for the next week. For lunch we finished the last of the Potato Salad and Chicken we’d picked up at the Walmart Deli Counter yesterday.
The trailer all set up.
In the afternoon Kathy and I hopped on our Tandem Bike and rode around the park seeing who else we might recognize that was attending the rally. We are parked between Gerry and Sandy and Dee and Jim Walters (Tumbleweed). After touring the rest of the park we sat outside to just mellow out something we haven’t had time to do since we arrived back home in April. Kathy invited Gerry and Sandy to come over and we sat outside getting caught up on everything we’d missed while we were away.
Howard and Linda going through announcements.
Before we knew it was nearly 6:00 and time to head over to the pavilion for a catered supper. The meal was Broasted Chicken, Spare Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and Peach Cobbler for dessert. It was all delicious but both Kathy and I made certain not to overfill our plates nor go back for seconds or our diets would have definitely suffered. After the meal Howard and Linda went through an extensive list of announcements. There was an Icebreaker game they had everyone play so people were meeting others they had never met before. In the end the game turned into a giant Marshmallow fight.
A great tasting meal.
Afterwards everyone went to their trailers to get there chairs and jackets to return back to the group campfire. I also saw Gayle and Rick Houle (Gypsy Turtles) but started talking with Bill and Nancy Mills (Nancy and Bill Our ‘Journey’ Thru Retirement). It seemed everyone was doing what they were supposed to do talking to people they didn’t know and enjoying the fire.

One of our excursions is tomorrow so we are going to be busy. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
