Costly Step Forward and a Worthwhile Cause.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After not falling asleep until nearly 1:00 my body simply made me sleep in until nearly 8:00 this morning. The temperature was in the mid-50s but comfortable enough to open all the windows as soon as we got up. As soon as we finished with breakfast we went to the computers for our morning reading.

Kathy and I have been RV Dream followers for over seven years and today Howard posted a catch up blog covering all the activities that took place during their latest Rally. Even though Kathy and I were experienced RVers we attended an RV Dream Rally in Hersey Pennsylvania in 2011. By reading his post today brought back memories of the fun we had while at that Rally and the friendships that were easily made amongst seasoned and soon-to-be RVers. At that and many of those Rallies Howard and Linda have played two songs that they felt truly described what most RVers feel about the Lifestyle. Kathy and I also liked those songs so much she asked if I could add them to our sidebar. Later this afternoon I was finally able to add Zac Brown’s-“Free” and Rascal Flatts-“My Wish” to our sidebar. If you get the chance give them a listen and see if you agree that they describe the RV Lifestyle.

We both had other things besides our reading that kept us on the computers past 10:30 when the phone rang. It was Jim from Windsor Gas and Diesel telling us the truck Safety was complete and it passed with flying colors. We said we’d see him after lunch.

When we arrived to get the truck Jim commented that everything required to pass the Safety was good. However he had noticed that the Airbags on the rear of the truck were without air. Anyone who has these knows you never run them that way. He had me park by the bay door where we pumped them up and he showed me his concerns. I monitored them for the rest of the day noting a gradual air loss throughout.

Once we had the new Safety Certificate in hand we headed straight to the License Bureau to get the new sticker for the truck. As mentioned in past blogs because of the size of the truck it needs a yearly Safety to get the tag and the last few years the Ontario Government has been also been increasing the cost of the tag by approximately 20 percent a year. Our tag today was over seven hundred dollars not counting the Safety. Even the people working behind the counter complained of the price. I’ll try complaining through my Provincial Member of Parliament when we get back from our next trip.

The soup we had for lunch was long gone and we were needing a snack. That particular License Bureau is located next door to McDonalds. Since this is McHappy Day a dollar was donated to the Ronald McDonald House when you purchased a Big Mac, a Kids Meal or a Hot Beverage. So we had an early supper having each a Big Mac with no fries and coffees plus we also donated a dollar to that worthy cause making our total donation five dollars.

This evening we headed out to Amherstburg for our weekly visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. Kevin made progress since last week by getting the underlay for the new floor in place. We had an enjoyable evening that was filled with laughter. By the time we were leaving the temperature had dropped from the daytime high of 72 F (22 C) down to 63 F (17 C) with a chilly wind.

Besides adding the two songs on our sidebar I mentioned above I also added a translating gadget at the top of our sidebar to help people looking in from Foreign Countries to better understand what we have written to their own language.

The weather is promising to be nice for the next few days so I’ll be back at the trailer trying to get things ready for our approaching departure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. That's a good idea to translate your blog. I might just need to do the same.

  2. Wow! $700 dollars just for the truck? Move to the states! Less than $100 for my car and 40ft motorhome.
    Just kidding,

  4. Love both of those songs. Perfect for my husband and I who will be joining the full time rv lifestyle in exactly 30 days.
