Caffeine Catastrophe, Rainy Favors, Slow Accomplishments.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night when we arrived at the Forest Glade Arena to watch Tyler play Lacrosse we both had the craving for a cup of coffee. The snack bar at the arena only had regular coffee so we took a chance and got them anyhow. They served to quell our cravings but would later come back to haunt us. We both barely slept through the entire night because of that late ingestion of Caffeine.

Normally that is not too bad a problem because we simply sleep in later in the morning. Unfortunately this was the morning we were awaken by the ringing of the phone. By the time we answered the caller at the other end had decided that maybe 8:00 in the morning was too early to call someone or realizes they have called a wrong number and hung up.

After struggling to keep our eyes open and eating breakfast we finished our morning coffees at the computers. That’s our son-in-law Greg called to ask a favor. Shortly after we left this winter he started remodeling the upstairs bathroom at their home and is nearing the end of the job. The gentleman that was supposed to come and measure for the granite countertop couldn’t make it on Friday and since they were out of town for a funeral on Saturday had to reschedule for today. The favor was to let him in to measure it.

The rain that had toyed with us yesterday was here in a non-stop drizzle to light rain the entire day. It took Ken less than ten minutes to measure and E-mail the drawing back to his company so they could start cutting the piece of granite. We also talked of Florida and the Keys from which he had just spent last week in before flying back to reality and the working world today. Once Ken left Sanford insisted that I go outside and toss the ball for him in the backyard. After about twenty throws the drizzle was increasing to rain so we brought the slightly tired but happy puppy back in the house. We returned home and finished our morning reading before having soup for lunch.

Since the truck was scheduled for its yearly Safety Check tomorrow I called Windsor Gas and Diesel to see when he wanted me to drop the truck off. Jim said he’d had a change in a job waiting for a part so if I brought the truck to him this afternoon would be fine. When I told that to Kathy it wasn’t long before we were out the door. Taking the Expressway we arrived in less than fifteen minutes from the time I’d made the call. With everything that was repaired last year the truck should pass with flying colors this year.

With the rain continuing outside we stopped at Walmart to get some indoor walking done. We were also looking for a few things we needed and managed to scratch even more things off of our gift list today.

Leaving there we stopped at the Metro Grocery Store where we managed to find almost everything on our shopping list and found much of it on sale. We also were able to use one of the Gift Cards we had received last Christmas to help pay for a portion of our purchase. We encourage our children to give us Gift Cards for groceries, movies or restaurants rather than something that we might already have gotten rid of when we sold our house. We are still downsizing.

At the apartment we had a wonderful salad topped off with pieces of chicken. We can both report back that in less than a week we have lost some of those extra pounds that we found while down in Florida this past winter. We watched the 6 o’clock News before going over to Karen’s house to bring a lamp that we’d exchanged for her.

The rain is supposed to stop in the morning and since the building will be shutting the water off for four hours to do plumbing repairs we’ll be keeping ourselves busy somewhere else. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Nice to catch up with you two and see that you are still out there enjoying yourselves!! We can now agree with the caffeine thing. Sometimes, it tastes so good but one of us usually pays for it in the evening!!

    Hugs to you both!!

  3. We have been having the rain come through here regularly. We have had so much rain our St Augustine grass has Brown Patch. I have had to doctor it with anti fungus fertilizer in hopes that it clears up before the new owners move in.
