What’s That?

Our Location today is Savannah, Georgia.

With all the severe weather that was happening in the south eastern states yesterday we really lucked out. Unfortunately not everyone was so luck as there were a few injuries as well as a fatality in Mississippi. In our neck of Georgia there was some tornado damage reported near Atlanta but all we received was rain around 2:00 am and a few more showers this afternoon. Kathy unfortunately spent most of the night sleeping with one ear pealed to the wind outside.

Something strange ahead of the Swan.

While we were having breakfast this morning I happened to see something odd that was floating by in the pond and when I mentioned it to Kathy telling her of my suspicions; she immediately used the binoculars and let out a gasp of confirmation that I was right. As we finished our second cup of coffee at the computers the sight returned but this time I got a picture to prove it. Remember yesterday I wrote there were other species showing up in this small lake well today it was alligator about four feet in length.

I immediately processed the picture and brought it to the park office. My concern was there were no signs indicating alligators present; just no swimming signs that were spread fairly far apart. The other day parents a few sites from ours were allowing their children to wade in the shallow water along the shore because the sign just said No Swimming. Hopefully I won’t be reading on the net that my concern was ignored.

When I got back to the trailer Kathy was into her precooking mode again. I had to dress up with long pants and a long sleeved hoody to empty and flush the waste tanks. I didn’t do that because it was cold. There wasn’t even a breeze. It was the no-see-ums! By covering myself as much as I could I managed to get my chores completed and the drainage hoses stored away so I won’t have to deal with it in the morning. I needed to cool down because it was in the mid 80’s with 80 percent humidity outside.

Kathy was ready for lunch by then and as we were eating and looking out the windows we saw it started raining. Twenty minutes later the rain stopped and the wind started blowing a constant breeze that got rid of the bug problem. We had to turn on the Air Conditioner though to cool down the trailer because it was just too uncomfortable without it.

 

Kathy had forgotten to get some Corn Starch the other day so we headed down the road in the opposite direction that we had yesterday. We traveled a good ten miles to a community that had suffered greatly from the 2008 market crash leaving only a gas bar and auto parts store left to shop at.

 

 

We just turned around and headed back into Richmond Hill and stopped at Food Lion grocery store a mile from the park. From the road this store looked small but inside it was clean, well kept, modern, and it had a full selection of grocery needs. After getting a bit more than the needed corn starch we left for the trailer with Kathy mentioning that most of their prices were reasonable but a few were higher than she had seen elsewhere.

For a day with no plans we sure kept busy and tomorrow we’ll be making new adventures as we’ll be back on the road slowly making our way home. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
