Our Location today is Quartzsite,
Arizona, U.S.A.
Last night while writing
our Blog Post I could barely keep my
eyes open due to the little sleep I’d had on Wednesday night. When my head hit
the pillow I only remembered was saying good night to Kathy and the next thing I
saw was a bright light seeping past the window shade into our bedroom. It was
probably all that fresh air we had while outside visiting with Jim and Barb at
the Campfire.
Breakfast was simple and
light and we talked of what we needed to do with our day. After the morning
chores were finished we talked as we browsed on the Computers. Seeing that the outside temperature was only 46 F (8 C) and my Raynaud’s had
me feeling like an Icicle I was hesitant
on going outside. Now we started talking about what we could do so as to not just
sit around all day. They say that RVer’s
plans are written in Jell-O so we
stirred them up and decided to go looking around the Vendors Area in Quartzsite.
By our Windsock the wind was coming from the North-West. |
When we walked out the door
at 10:00 MST it felt good to be
standing in the Warmth of the Sunshine. When we walked towards the
truck just as we passed the end of the trailer the Cold North Wind cut through us like a knife. Undeterred we headed out
until we drove to one of the buildings offering RV Supplies. We had been making
a list of things that we felt would improve and extend our ability to live “Off the Grid”. We were able to scratch
a few things off our list and at a price not far from Camping World’s Online Sale Prices.
We next went to Herb’s Hardware
Store where I picked up a small
assortment of Electrical Connectors
that are not available in Windsor. There had been many times in the past
when those types of connectors were not available and the project I was working
on would have to be redesigned.
Our next stop was the RV Pit Stop to get one of our 30 lb. Propane Tanks refilled. We had topped all our propane off
back in Shipshewana,
Indiana and
we have plans to sit for a while. The tank itself wasn’t quite empty so we’ve
done much better than we’d thought.
It was now past 12:30 so we
decided to go to a restaurant that we hadn’t yet eaten at the La Casa Café.
This restaurant has a mixed menu of Mexican
and American Foods. Since today was Friday their Special for the day was Alaskan Cod Fish and Chips. We waited
very little time and were surprised to see Three
Pieces of Fish and a Reasonable Amount
of French Fries. Most restaurants overfill your plate with Fries as filler
to make up for the lack of the main food. The Table was Clean when we walked in but was cleaned again before we
sat down, Service was fast and friendly,
the Food very tasty and properly
cooked and the Price very reasonable.
We highly recommend it.
We felt like walking so we
returned to the Vendors
Area and started looking at those
vendors we hadn’t seen before. We did find a few things that would be useful as
well as a few more for our site back at Wildwood Golf and RV Park in McGregor.
The only problem I was having was the Cold
North Wind was making it difficult for me to stop shaking. It reached a
high of 54 F (12 C) this afternoon but I needed to wear Insulated Gloves just so that I could feel my hands.
This Vendor is using their Toyhauler as a Barber Shop. |
When we arrived back Home I
didn’t stay outside too long. Getting inside the trailer felt heavenly because
the Sun had warmed the inside
temperature to 75 F (24 C) and neither objected. We finished
the afternoon doing chores Online.
With warmer temperatures and less wind tomorrow we hope to enjoy the Arizona Sunshine. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

You Might Be a Redneck If
You've arm-wrestled with a first date.
We are staying in San Diego for a month. The last 10 days or so have been damp and rainy.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm sure things will get better for both of us.
As a note, Tucson looks very agreeable right now.
Stay warm!
The wind was very strong here yesterday as well but I did manage to get my mile walk in down the road. Good thing for the hot sun or I wouldn't have gone anywhere!
ReplyDeleteSunshine can make a world of difference - even on chilly days! We're getting downpours today - does that make you feel better? :)
ReplyDeleteSue and I were trying to remember the name of Herbs Hardware the other day. Thanks for reminding us. We hope to be in Q later next week and will look you up for a tour of your solar before we start our install.
ReplyDeleteI really don't do too well in really cold temps. We are staying in Auburn Alabama for a month to be with our son and last night it went down in the 20s. Too cold for me. That coupled with all the rain...yuk!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all had a nice walk and got to visit some good vendors!!
Hope that sunshine and warmth returns for you all.
