Our Location today is Quartzsite,
Arizona, U.S.A.
Still recovering from the
nights of lost sleep it felt good to just lay in bed and cuddle for a while
this morning. For most couples that sounds easy enough but for a couple that
both wear a CPAP Mask to sleep it’s
a treat. The fact that it was still cold when we eventually left the comforting
warmth of our Bedsheets made us want
to stay there just a bit longer.
After getting our morning
reading and chores finished it was time to get some of my outside chores
completed. With the electrical work that I’ve been doing winding down my first
outdoor chore was putting many of my tools back into their designated spots.
There was another adjustment that I made to the Inverter Safety Breaker Switches that I installed. I had posted how
disappointed I was that the Inverter had been a Single Phase unit and not a Double
Phase like I had thought we were getting. This morning by adding a simple Jumper Wire on the Inverter side of the Breaker
we now have our Double Phase Inverter.
What that means is we are now feeding both sides of the Power Bar in the Electrical
Panel from the Inverter. If you
don’t know what you are doing and install the Jumper Wire on the wrong side of the Breaker, the next time you plug into a Power Post sparks would be flying. If you are not sure how it’s
done have a Professional do it.
Plugged into Solar Power. |
I’d just started drilling
brackets for our HD Antenna Mast
out at the firepit when Kathy called me in to lunch. It was fun having the drill plugged into the trailer and not running a generator. All our power is being produced by the Sun.
Cloudy skies most of the day. |
Kathy had been trying to figure out a banking
issue that we’ll have to call on Monday morning. Since it was still cold she made Macaroni and Cheese to help us warm up.
Back outside I was nearly ready
to start mounting the Antenna Mast to the trailer but
needed some fasteners. I was going through my Organizer Bins in the rear of the truck bed when our closest
neighbour Wayne stopped over to talk. We were exchanging information about
travels and work on our trailers as if we were old friends. Before we knew it
an hour had passed and we both had things to do. Before he left I invited him
and his wife over for a Campfire
that we’d planned on having later.
Mashed Squash in the Bowls, Butter and Garlic Noodles with Atlantic Salmon. |
I was just about to
assemble the Antenna Head to the Mast when Kathy called me for Supper.
Time flies when you are having fun. Kathy had Mashed Acorn Squash with Butter
and Garlic Noodles to go with the Atlantic
Salmon we had for our Supper. Everything
tasted wonderful!
While Kathy washed the
dishes I set up the wood up in the Firepit
while there was still daylight to see what I was doing. By the time Kathy joined
me outside I’d gone back to mounting the Antenna
Head to the Mast itself. This was
really making her excited because that means we’ll be able to watch Television
soon, which is something we haven’t done since leaving our site in McGregor.
Once the Coaxial Cable was connected
the mast was raised in position and fastened to the Rear Ladder of the trailer. I plan on adding additional bracing.
Kathy had the Campfire going by the time I had my
tools put away for the night. We were enjoying the fire but our neighbour never
came over. There was a heavy cloud cover which made seeing stars impossible and
we were beginning to feel the night dampness. Just as we were about to go
inside for the night Jim and Barb came walking out of the darkness with their Furkids Daisy and Dakota. We started talking
where we left off the other night of places where we all plan to go and where
we’ve all been. The dogs were getting restless so they headed off for Home.
We’ll be seeing them again if not before we leave on Wednesday when we return.
We have lots to do before
we leave but it can change in an instant. Isn’t
Retirement Great! Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

That campfire sure looks nice and warm.
ReplyDeleteKathy sounds like a GREAT cook. Does she rent out?? I seem to have more disasters than good meals!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you haven't watched TV since hitting the road. We would go crazy not watching our sports teams.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sunset and fire pics, the colours in Arizona are so beautiful. I noticed you were from Windsor, I was born there and visited with my grandparents there for many years. Small world...looking forward to meeting you at Q...

Always love the sunrises when we are parked in the desert. Especially love watching the shadows as the stretch across the desert floor.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.
We haven't had TV since we started back full-timing. That will change soon.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented in all the things you can do with your rig!! It is awesome that you are totally off grid with your solar!!
That is a great fire!!
