Olde Faithful in McGregor and Pleasant Visits.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Waking part way through the night and again lying in bed looking at the ceiling after only a half hour the first thing I did was to take a Tylenol. The second was to occupy my time on the computer until I relaxed. Amazingly I only lost two hours of sleep and if it hadn’t been for the persistent yawning at breakfast Kathy would have never known I had been up.
Salmon macaroni salad for lunch topped with Cantaloupe.
Due to the continued high Humidex readings our area keeps getting lately I didn’t wait too long to get outside to water the grass. It was also around the time I noticed the sewer connection under our neighbour Stan’s trailer started looking like Olde Faithful had come to McGregor. Stan leaves his grey water valve open constantly and was not using any water inside his trailer at the time. After notifying the office Joe the owner was down looking for the problem within minutes. There was definitely a sewage blockage somewhere because of the smell and it was backing up under Stan’s trailer.
After getting washed up I went back to the computer and got caught up on my reading while Kathy started fixing her Salmon Macaroni Salad for an early lunch. She did that so that I could get our medication doucettes filled this afternoon. Since I do it for six and a half weeks at a time means it takes longer to do but it doesn’t happen every Saturday evening. From the time I started to the time everything was put away where they belong took me just under two hours.
At that point we headed for Windsor to Fantastic Sam’s. The other day Kathy noted our hair was getting long and was curious when our next appointment was. Since it wasn’t marked on the calendar we checked our Day Planner revealed we’d missed our appointment. Dealing with the problem with the truck, getting ready for Ross’s Memorial and our trip to London along with my foot injury somehow we didn’t mark it on the calendar causing us to miss it entirely. When we walked in Jenna was just finishing her last customer so she took us right away. She knew something must have been wrong because we’d never missed an appointment but it worked out for her because that day they were swamped with customers.
When we planned to go to London for this week we’d planned on two visits. One with my sister Anna and the second with my aunt Anna and uncle Bob. My aunt called Friday morning saying she was too ill to visit so Kathy and I simply took the extra time to see a movie and do some walking. After getting home on Wednesday we learned Anna and Bob would be visiting their daughter (my cousin) Jackie this weekend and we could visit there. Somehow during our move from the apartment we lost our Rolodex with Jackie’s phone number. By the time we arrived at 3:00 Anna had gone with her daughter Ann-Marie for an overnight stay in Michigan. Kathy and I still had a great visit with Bob and Jackie. It’s looking like Anna and Bob could be moving back to the Windsor area sometime soon in order to be closer to family as they are getting up in age. Kathy and I would really like that as well.
It was past 5:00 when we left and since we’d had an early lunch we stopped at Wendy’s where we both enjoyed one of their signature salad dinners for our meal. Since the outside Humidex was 108 F (42 C) we topped our meal off with a Frosty in order to cool down. With the location of that Wendy’s being at the Ambassador Plaza we extended our stay by visiting the L.C.B.O. (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) and the Dollar Tree to make a special birthday purchase.
Back Home it felt good to be inside the trailer where there was at least a twenty-degree difference to the outside. Here is hoping all our readers are keeping cool through these high temperature days and not participating in strenuous outdoor activities.  Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I don't think any thing is worse than sewer smell. Sometimes, we have no idea how people don't. They stink up the whole place. When Paul dumps, we smell nothing. Glad they got that taken care of very quickly.

  2. Any chance that Kathy would share her salmon macaroni salad? It sounds interesting.
