At It Again.

Our Location today is Sugar Loaf Key, Florida, USA.

At 2:18 this morning it started all over again. The crowing that is. Over the last few days Kathy and I have come to recognize by the sound that there are at least three Roosters trying to be the most dominant male around. Well at 2:18 this morning the smallest and weakest of the trio started crowing. Finally I just got out of bed around 3:00 and did some early morning reading on the computer. By 3:30 all three of those idiots were trying to outperform one another and it was still very dark outside. They finally settled down just before 6:00 so I was able to go back to bed to sleep. Kathy knew I must have been up when at 8:00 she was getting up before me.
The Square Grouper, Cudjoe Key, Florida.
We kept this morning quiet not only because of the searing sun but we had luncheon plans. At 11:30 we got together with Karen and Al for lunch at the Square Grouper. We had done quite a bit of catching up the other evening but we still had plenty to talk about including the maintenance that goes with owning an RV. It was past 1:00 by the time we said our good byes with plans to get together again soon.

Back at the trailer the heat outside was too much for Kathy to handle and I was starting to get a headache from my lack of sleep. I normally resist taking a Snap (short nap) but with Kathy wanting to have a rest and the headache I was starting with I relented. An hour later we both felt better.

At this point Kathy suggested we go for a bike ride to the campground beach and just relax for a bit. Then she suggested doing the bike trail like I’d done the other day. I was all for that because any type of exercise is better than none. There was much more traffic when it came to crossing the highway at the pedestrian crossovers so that added to our time. We just pedaled along as I explained to Kathy what I’d seen the other day at the various points until suddenly we were again across the highway from the Square Grouper

After a water break we continued on down the trail until we again had to cross the highway that took us another five eighths a mile to the end of the path. The old pedestrian bridge had been removed from service at Kemp Channel and Kathy didn’t want to ride on the shoulder of the road so we headed back for the trailer. The sky was looking fairly threatening for a short while but by the time we got back to the trailer the sky was totally clear again but by our moisture laden shirts you would have thought that we’d been caught in a storm.
This cloud looked much darker to the human eye.
I went to the office/store to get a loaf of bread so we could have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for supper. Tonight I’m hoping our three amigos sleep in because we want an early start to Key West in the morning and we need our rest as well. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Enjoy your day in Key West! The Five Monkeys bar I mentioned has some wonderful non alcoholic drinks too. Very good on a hot day.

  2. This weather drives us all nuts. It is either too hot or too cold. We can never win.
