Earthquake Update, Picked Up Our Gazebo, Meeting New Neighbours and Costly Estimates.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though Kathy said she hardly slept last night we were upstairs for breakfast shortly after 9:00 this morning. It seemed that she kept dreaming of things that would wake her up and she couldn’t shut her mind off. We didn’t get the chance to spend too much time on our Computers because we had some errands that needed to be taken care of.

The one thing we did check was the weather forecast for the day. We were starting the day out in the Forties and actually reaching the Mid Fifties which was something that everyone around here gladly welcomed.

There was also mention of last night’s Earthquake. After checking all the Data they found that the early estimate of 3.6 Magnitude was incorrect and by checking the actual readings found it to be a 4.1 on the Richter Scale. There was only one other known Earthquake to have been stronger in this area but it took place during the War of 1812 long before weather records were kept.
Guardian Storage
Our first stop was at our Storage Unit at Guardian Storage. We were there to simply pick up our Plastic Tarp that had covered the Barrels on the Bicycle Carrier on the back of the Trailer. Today it would be repurposed. We then drove to the Office where we settled our bill and pick up our Mail.

By 11:00 we were arriving at Canadian Tire to pick up the Gazebo that we purchased yesterday for our seasonal site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park. When it was brought up to the front of the store it came with Three Workers to help load it in the Truck. There was little problem with no place to store the Generator, Fifth Wheel Hitch, Propane Tank or Gasoline Container they were still in the Truck. The thing that saved us was the Box that the Gazebo was packed in was Seven Feet Long so the four of us lifted it and laid it across the Walls of the Truck Bed behind the cab and that was where I tied it down.

We had thought of grabbing a bite to eat but all the Fast Foods and Restaurants around were packed so Kathy said just to go to the Park. When we arrived at our Site we discussed what we wanted to do to the Patio and how we were going to safely remove the Gazebo from the Truck. We moved the Picnic Table then the Truck but Kathy was still scared that it would get dropped.
At our Site before we unloaded the Gazebo Box from the Truck.
Seeing that we had new neighbours across the street I went over to introduce myself. Their names were Kevin and Lorrie. I mentioned my predicament and asked if he would be able to just help me lift it down to the Picnic Table. Being a retired Iron Worker himself Kevin had no issues about helping. The lift took all of Seven Seconds and it was safely on the Table.

He was curious about our Trailer not being there so after we told him he was wishing us good luck with that. Then he asked where we go south and he got more then an earful. He definitely wants to hear more about being “Off the Grid” in the future. After wrapping the Gazebo Box in the Plastic Tarp, we were soon on our way.

Since it was already past 1:30 we were feeling a little hungry and there must have been having a Golf League get-together at the 19th Hole Restaurant because it was packed. We headed up the road to John’s Place located at Paquette Corners in Tecumseh. We had stopped there last November before crossing the International Border to head south and really enjoyed it. Today we had their Chicken Wrap Combos and really enjoyed them. They only take Cash but the have an ATM Machine inside the restaurant.
Shops like the one Tyler is in have to be members of the
Teacher's Federation.
We were comfortably satisfied when we left heading to pick up Tyler at his Co-op Training Job. Traveling north on Walker Road we were engulfed in the dreaded afternoon Rush-Hour Traffic. For a trip that only took us Ten Minutes the other day it took nearly Thirty this afternoon. Today we only had a Five-Minute wait before Tyler finished his day.
Evebn the Doves were camera shy today.
After getting Tyler home we headed out again. As mentioned earlier we had discussed what we want to do to our Summer Site so the first place we stopped was Home Hardware Building Center in Tecumseh. When we asked about Paint to do the Concrete Patio the sales reps asked a few questions of their own then started telling us all the products we would need. To say that it would be costly is an Understatement. The saving grace is that we didn’t have Dimensions figured out so that gave us an excuse to leave.
This Bonehead used the Left Turn Lane
to get by the long line of traffic
(including us) to get ahead of it.
We drove to Home Depot and after finding most of the products that we would need Francois filled us in on what we didn’t know. We have always had good results with Behr Paints in the past, they are easier to use and cost much less then the other brands but we still need measurements.

With the threat of Fuel and Gas prices skyrocketing tomorrow we filled the Truck on the way back to Karen’s then I took the Car and filled it up as well.

Around 7:00 we had Chicken Noodle Soup for supper with a Fruit Cup for dessert. Looks like another busy day tomorrow. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. It must be the week for buying gazebos. Bill bought one at Costco last week for at his hobby. Much better quality than the other one he had that demolished in the wind! :)

  2. You two are sure keeping busy...as always.
I had read there was an earthquake in that area. Glad to read no damage.
I do enjoy the drivers who think the rules are for everyone else but not them...:(

  3. Can't wait to see how you fix up your lot.

Gas has already gone pretty high here so I am doing very little driving. For all I know it may well be over $3. gl
