A Done Deal.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With all the exercise we had yesterday cleaning the trailer and waxing the nose cap last evening neither of us struggled to fall asleep when our heads hit the pillows. I slept so soundly that I was wide awake by 7:00 this morning. After laying in bed for a while I got up to start doing my morning reading on the computer. It was nearly 8:00 before Kathy got up but she also felt well rested.
This was our lunch not breakfast.
During breakfast we discussed the possibility that we had a lot of things to accomplish in a short amount of time if we were to come to an agreement with
Leisure Trailers toward the new trailer we were looking at. Many might think we should just save our money and live with what we have. Maybe after this purchase that will be the way we’ll feel but at this time we don’t think so. We need to have a better functioning kitchen and living area then we have at the present time and we also don’t see traveling with anyone coming with us in our trailer in the future. The trailer we looked at is a Home on wheels compared to our present trailer that would be like a small two-bedroom apartment.

Our new Home
After quickly checking my morning E-mail I didn’t waste time to getting outside. I wanted to continue waxing the trailer in an effort of getting it ready to trade in or for us to head south with it. I managed to get a lot of the luster back where it seemed the shine had disappeared.
As I was moving along the phone rang around 10:00 and within minutes Kathy was at the door. We were now the owners of a New 2014 Jayco Eagle 351 MKTS fifth wheel trailer and we had to meet Andrew at Leisure Trailer in Lakeshore to fill in the paperwork at 1:00.
This is where I started to panic because Ed from Leisure Trailers had asked me to list all the changes and modifications we had done to our trailer so they could highlight them. I had to stop the waxing and continue working on the list. It took over an hour to put it all together room by room on the computer. After Kathy read the list over it was then printed. As I reviewed the 55 entrees on the printed list I remembered number 56.  There was no more room for improvement and another reason we chose to change our trailer.
After Kathy made us bacon and eggs for lunch it was shortly after noon and we were out the door. We didn’t want to rush but when we ran into construction zones along our route that hadn’t been there before we were running out of time. With luck we walked in with five minutes to spare at which time I gave our list to Ed. With a single look he asked why we hadn’t built our own trailer.
Kathy after we signed the papers for our new Home.
Once the papers were signed the date for the delivery was set. This trailer has never been sold or slept in but because it is now considered nearly three years old it was considered used so they had to drastically discount it. Jayco however still considers it a new unit and is giving us the full two-year factory warranty on the entire trailer, + 5 yrs. extended warranty. With the keys in hand we went back to do more exploring of our new Home. I immediately climbed to the roof to see what changes we’ll be making up there.
We reviewed all the exterior utilities before going inside. With our old trailer we were always struggling to find ways to store things. That will not be an issue with this trailer as there is more than enough storage for kitchenware and clothing.
On our way Home we stopped at Walmart in hopes of finding some organizing bins to use in this trailer. We only found silverware trays as everything else we were looking for was out of stock. A stop at Dollarama proved more successful.
Our next stop was Guardian Storage where I explained to Wendy that we’d be bringing our trailer back to the yard for a few hours and why. She had no problem with that and there’ll be no extra charge. We then went to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit getting things that will be going back into our old trailer.
We stopped at Canadian Tire and found at towel rack and vanity mirror for the new trailer. We also stopped at Staples where we got the 2017 calendar for our Day-Planner that we carry for all our appointments.
It was nearly 6:00 by that time so we stopped at Boston Pizza for a celebratory supper. We enjoyed their medium sized multigrain thin crust Tuscan pizza. It was delicious as always and not over filling.
We made a quick stop at the trailer before going to visit our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa in Amherstburg. They were excited for us and are looking forward to seeing our new Home. Before we left I borrowed the Utility Cart that we’ll need to use when we switch out our Loveseat Recliner for the original sleeper sofa in this trailer.
Time is flying by faster now but we are looking forward to organizing our new Home and getting ready to head south. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  9. About 6 months before we bought our Open Range by Highland Ridge, Jayco bought Highland Ridge. (Now Thor owns them both). We were impressed that it had a two year warranty and also the 5 year extended warranty with Jayco. Congrats on your new home.
