Temple of Tolerance.

Our Location today is Wapakoneta, Ohio, USA.

We once again managed to sleep in this morning but the sun was shining brightly into our bedroom window so we knew we might as well get up at 7:30 and start the day. Kathy had researched something for us to do but we took the time to do our morning reading after having breakfast. For some reason I developed a headache while sitting at the computer that just wouldn’t go away. We delayed our departure and even had an early lunch before heading out because of it.

By noon we arrived at 203 Wood Street in Wapakoneta which is the home of Jim Bowsher. Jim is a retired Geologist, Archeologist and Historian and because of his career he developed quite a curiosity about rocks. He often saw farmers burying rocks that seemed to have patterns to them in their fields so they could plant their crops. Jim would ask if he could have the rocks and most farmers were happy to oblige.

See Kathy up top.
Living in the home that he grew up in Jim started transforming the backyard into a place of peace and serenity. His project started to get bigger than he had imagined and soon he was buying additional property at the rear of his neighbor’s backyards. Then he started allowing people from all over to come and visit what he called his Temple of Tolerance at no cost. Because of this jester of sharing he received other items of historic value besides rocks that were added to his garden.

When we arrived Jim was in his driveway talking to someone showing him a set of arrowheads mounted in a display case. When Kathy asked about viewing his yard his face lit up and he simply said welcome pointing up to his driveway. We were only inside about five minutes when another couple emerged from another area of his yard saying this was a “Hidden Gem” and they’d be coming back with their grandchildren.

It was unbelievable that in the middle of a suburb like this an oasis lay tucked away from view. Many of these rocks could well flatten any vehicle they might land on but were here in the tranquility of this garden organized in such a way to bring peace to anyone so needing it.

On the way back to the trailer we stopped in at Walmart to look around. We were also surprised that this store was not laidout in the typical Walmart layout. We even managed to scratch off another Cxxxxxxxs gift from our list. It has been nearly three weeks since we did that kind of shopping.

Yesterday when we had arrived we’d purchased firewood to have a campfire. Being too tired from the long drive we chose to have it this afternoon. We were surprised how well it burnt for hardwood. By 5:30 we drove over to Captain D’s and enjoyed a tasty fish dinner for supper.

My headache still hasn’t gone away so here’s hoping it’s cleared up in the morning. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
