With
the sound of the Rain lulling Kathy to sleep while at her
Computer she headed off to bed before I had posted the Blog
last night. I had already turned down the Bed and turned on
the Inverter to the CPAPs. With the Blog posted
I quickly scanned the few other Blogs that had posted before
returning to the Research that I had started earlier in the
day. Wanting to be able to monitor the power being supplied by the
Wind Generator separate from the Batteries would
require Two independent Meters along with a Blocking
Diode.
What we woke up to. |
Finally
when my eyes started getting heavy that’s when I called it a day
and started shutting things down. I have often spoke of the Arthritis
that Kathy has in her Hands but seldom mention that I have a
milder form especially when my Hands are cold. As I shut my
Computer, Internet and Blue Flame Heater my
hands were already cold. When I reached in the Electrical Control
Panel to shut the Living Room Lights my hand spasmed
causing me to shut the Switch to the Inverter that
powers our CPAPs. Kathy instantly woke with a start because
she no longer had any air to breathe. That used to happen when we
went in Northern Ontario years
ago before we had the Inverter and it is not a pleasant
experience when you are gasping for air. All I could do was to keep
apologizing for hitting the Switch. It took the Inverter about
Thirty Seconds to reset and restart the CPAPs but
Kathy about Thirty Minutes before she was able to fall back to
sleep.

A Stream of water running down the path. |
By
11:00 the Rain stopped and it looked like the Clouds
were trying to spread out for a bit so we went back to “Plan A”.
With this being Thursday we got ready to head into Quartzsite.
Even though we were wearing our Raincoats the Wind still
cut right through them.
Our
destination was the Main Street Eatery where
on Thursdays for lunch only they serve Homemade Cowboy Nachos
that we have both come to love. It was first advertised as an
Appetizer but everyone started ordering it as their meals. It
is satisfying but doesn’t leave you feeling stuffed.

On
our way Home we stopped to check
out the few Vendors that were still open on Kuhen
Road. Most had closed
up for the day because of all the Rain but the one we were
interested in was open. We make a point of getting a T-Shirt
each year while we are away and we each found the perfect ones this
year.
Back
Home after letting Kathy inside I
spoke with Wayne for a few minutes. I explained how I plan to monitor
the power produced by our Wind Generator. We had hardly
started looking at the Charge Controller in the Basement
when we started getting hit with rather Large Raindrops. It
didn’t take long to head inside again.
On our way Home. |
We
had some French Onion Soup for supper along with a Pudding
Cup for dessert.
More Rain. |

The weather certainly has been awful everywhere but I am glad at least it has not snowed.
ReplyDeleteThose cowboy nachos sure look good! Stay warm guys.
It's certainly weird weather. Watch out for those flash floods. There's going to be a lot of them today!!
ReplyDeleteYour title is funny with "choking Kathy"...even though the story wasn't funny. Those cowboy nachos always look yummy and french onion soup sounds good, especially in the cool weather
ReplyDeleteWith all the rain you guys have had lately, having a secondary power generator....wind....makes good sense. I'll be watching the progress and success of that project.
