A Big Concern, Big Rewards and Uncertain Diagnosis.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After having had a longer than normal day I only experienced a few moments of sleeplessness last night. The end result was that I woke up this morning feeling refreshed ready to meet the challenges of the day. It didn’t take long for the first one to rear its head as soon as I opened the window shade by the dining room table another of those cheap plastic cord-holders snapped. I’m really getting good at replacing those as it took less than five minutes to do and Kathy never heard a thing.

As soon as the water kettle popped indicating the water was hot Kathy sprang out of bed. She doesn’t hear storms, or the alarm clock, or me replacing blind anchors but she hears that kettle pop. With the outside temperature once again hanging around 52 F (11 C) it was necessary to activate the furnace once again. When it is that cold it plays havoc on Kathy’s Neuropathy which causes a constant pain even during moderate temperatures.

Once breakfast was complete we were able to get most of our morning reading in by 9:00 before I started making phone calls. The first call was to make a quick appointment with my Optometrist for this afternoon. The next was to Todd inquiring about the progress on my Heatshield to protect the Airbag on the truck hoping it was ready. Unfortunately, he was out of the office so I had to leave a voice mail. It could not have been ten minutes later that Todd himself called me saying my piece was ready for pickup and because of my patience waiting for it there was no charge. I thanked him and assured him we’d be working together in the future.
Leftover Pork Roast, Potatoes, Carrots and Tomato Salad.
Having an early lunch that Kathy said was made entirely of delicious Leftovers shortly after 11:00 we were soon out the door before noon heading towards Windsor. Our first stop was at the closest Dollar Tree that just happen to have the Mirror Decal that Kathy needed to decorate our bedroom. Though they didn’t have the baskets that Kathy wanted to organize our kitchen pantry. Next stop was Dollarama who had nothing even close.
Beautiful Sunny Day
We finally arrived at Guardian Storage where we seemed to have a pile of Mail waiting for us. We also visited our Climate Controlled Storage Unit where we left a few things but took some toiletries that we needed. Since we will be celebrating Christmas with our families before heading south this year we also gathered all the Christmas Gifts that Kathy has had wrapped for quite some time. We’ll be celebrating a joint Canadian Thanksgiving and Christmas on the long weekend in October. Some will be celebrated as early as this coming weekend. By bringing the gifts Home now we won’t be as rushed.

The next stops looking for the baskets were Walmart then to Canadian Tire where we struck out at both places. Since it was almost time for my appointment we had to start heading in that direction. Along the way I realized there was a Home Hardware that we haven’t been to in ages on Seminole. Would you believe they had the perfect sized baskets that we were looking for. Since they are also carried Nuts and Bolts I checked if they had any replacement three quarter inch nuts for our Airbags. They had them in Course Thread but not in a Fine Thread.

We arrived for my 2:30 appointment with only a minute to spare and I was taken right in. Kathy being concerned wanted to sit in. I explained the problem that I’ve been experiencing so David my Optometrist was very thorough checking my eyes even before putting in Dilation Drops. His opinion was that I am experiencing Refractive Problems brought on by Cataracts but he will try to get me in to see a specialist in the field before the weekend to make certain that’s all it is.
Kathy doesn't like driving during Rush Hour.
Luckily we had taken the car and after having those drops put in my eyes there was no way I could drive. Kathy has driven the truck many times but because we were into Rush Hour Traffic appreciated driving the car more.

She drove over to Spada Sheet Metal where true to his word Todd had the Heatshield waiting for me at the front desk with a note saying “No Charge.” Seeing him in his office I personally thanked him and made sure that he had some coffee money for the week.

Since we were still looking for the Nuts for the Airbags we stopped at Home Depot on Walker Road. They had Fine Bolts only up to one half inch and Course Bolts up to Three Quarters. The Fastener Supply Representative was there and tried helping us out. He called local businesses he thought might be able to help us. Someone at Cross Canada Auto Body Supply said they had them in stock so with a big Thanks we left that department. We picked up some strapping for me to work with modifying the trailer and some Kitchen and Bath Paint that I need to complete the Sunlight Panel.

Finally arriving at Cross Canada there was nobody there that remembered having taken the phone call and they didn’t carry the Nuts that we needed. They could order them in but I could expect to wait about five weeks for them to come in. Since we’ll be on the road by then I said “No Thanks.”

I had Kathy drive me back to Bogar Truck Supply and Service on Huron Church Road since they work on trucks they probably have the parts. When I asked at the desk the clerk about the Nuts she brought me to a bolt rack and asked what I needed. After carefully making certain I had the right ones because of my still blurred sight I was told to “Have a Good Day.” Those nuts had cost us the fuel to find them.

Rush Hour was now in full swing making Kathy even more leery about driving so she suggested having supper at Applebee’s that was right next door. The food and service were all good and we ordered off a Promo Menu that saved us money as well. By the time we’d finished eating my eyes could once again focus so that I could safely drive us Home.
Clouds starting to fill the sky.
Kathy has already reorganized the pantry and likes the way it looks. We won’t be seeing today’s beautiful weather again until next week so we’ll have to find a way of getting ready for our southern travels. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
