Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
Even though it was not quite two weeks
ago that we traveled to London, Ontario to do some visiting our stay
in the Hotel didn’t feel anywhere
like staying in our daughter Karen’s home did last night. First the Hotel room was much smaller than just their living room. Second it has been quite a while since
either of us have heard the tapping of pet’s toenails on the floor at night. Third poor Sanford was so happy not to
be alone that it didn’t matter which one of us left a room he stuck to us like
glue.
Knowing that Sanford has never seen
anyone wearing a CPAP mask we had to
come up with a plan so he wouldn’t think some alien had just taken over our
bodies. We each made certain that he watched us apply the mask and spoke to him
as we did it. That didn’t stop him from standing at alert before sniffing our
legs before he relaxed.
Sanford ready for a walk. |
The saying “There no place
like Home”
still held true because when we began our Fulltiming
Adventure and moved our trailer to Wildwood Golf
and RV Park
we no longer had to listen to the dozens of emergency Sirens going by in an
evening. While living in the apartment we were hardened to that but not now. Another
thing we don’t hear at the park are trains. Again while in the apartment we
heard quite a few each day sounding their horns as the approached crossings.
Where Karen’s home is located the moderate speed Via passenger train passes
only feet from her backyard and because of its speed the whistle is sounded
long and hard many times a day and night.
It wasn’t the worst night’s sleep we’ve
had but it truly wasn’t the best so it was nearly 8:00 this morning when we got
up. With a fenced in yard it was easy to let Sanford do his thing while we
started prepping his and our breakfast. After eating we didn’t have the same
amount of time to read at the computers because someone impatiently wanted to
play. Of course he had me more tired than himself so there was only one other
thing that could be done, take him for a walk
Our sky at Supper Time. |
As soon as we took his collar and leash
from the closet Sanford almost bowled me over so that I’d put it around his
neck. As soon as I open the door to head out Sanford also felt that it was his
duty to grab the leash in his mouth and start leading. It took some doing but I
finally got him to slow down and let me lead the way. Another thing we are out
of practice is cleaning up after our friends but I managed. After our two-mile
walk in warm temperatures was over I finally got a chance to finish my morning
reading with one very tired little guy sleeping at my feet.
Around 2:00 this afternoon Karen called
to let us know her friend that we were filling in for would be able to stay
with Sanford for tonight. We could have stayed but being tired from our
restless night of sleep we agreed. Luckily Sanford was playing with his buddy
Allen another Furkid, so we wanted
to get everything packed up and load it in the car to avoid some of the sad
eyed puppy look we’d be getting later.
Our last chance to play today. |
Once we called Sanford for supper, we
left him in the air conditioned house while we went out for Chinese food. The place we went was right next door to the apartment
building we just moved from back in April. The service was fast and courteous,
plus both are meals tasted great with enough left over for another meal all at
a very reasonable price. After supper we returned to Zehrs grocery store where Kathy used her list of things we were
running low on back at the trailer.
At Karen’s home we took Sanford out for
another run in the backyard but as soon as we got inside we got the look that
said he knew were leaving. Even with our explaining that Joe was coming over he
just lay by the stairs on his blankey
and watched us leave. We even felt sad!
The sky on our way Home. |
It was past 8:00 when we got Home and I’d barely got in from unloading the car when the skies
opened up and the rain came down. It then took another hour to set up all our
equipment so we would feel like we were Home again. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
