Cooler Sleep And Blustery Heat.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Last night we turned the AC on when we came inside after having our first Campfire/Marshmallow Roast since officially becoming Fulltimers. After enjoying Father’s Day with family and friends here at our Home there was just no way that we could have slept comfortably. To top it off the weather guessers were calling for a Humidex that would surpass the century mark today.
To make room for our guests to park at our site yesterday we had to park the truck over by the Park Clubhouse. This morning I’d just gotten the computer turned on when there was a harsh knocking at the door. It was Joe our Landlord and he was there to tell me I needed to move the truck because the contractors were pulling in to pave that parking lot. He recognized our truck but he still had to find out who owned the other two.
Kathy enjoyed the roasted Marshmallows.
It took less than five minutes to walk over and return the truck back on our site. I then spent the next fifteen minutes watering the newly seeded grass before the heat of the day would dry it up. Just as I was rolling up the hose I took note that another Lily had opened during the night. The last two days we have witnessed Hummingbirds stopping to sample the nectars of this plant. (They’ve been too fast to get any pictures.)
Three days, Three Lilies have opened.
It actually felt good to sit inside the Air Conditioned Trailer this morning to have breakfast. I have worked around excessive heat throughout my career but this high Humidex is harder to handle. The weather guessers at times like these issue warnings to anyone who has a Respiratory or Cardiac related health issues to stay inside where the temperatures are cooler. Since Kathy has both guess where you are bound to find her. After having breakfast and reading at the computers we managed to get a number of indoor chores completed before lunch.

Kathy was once again planning our trip to the southwest US this coming fall. When she showed me the direction of our travels again I made a few suggestions that would make it so we were not backtracking our route. Kathy spent a lot more time researching this afternoon.

After cleaning the birds nest out of our trailer’s Pinbox yesterday I didn’t want to waste too much time before making the metal plate to block the birds from making further nests. When I measured the Pinbox and came up with a design the first thing I did was use a recycled cereal box to make a template. When I went outside to try it in place the hot wind had suddenly increased and was gusting over thirty M.P.H. making it difficult to accomplish any work.
I joined Kathy on the computers doing my own type of research. By 5:00 the wind had eased enough that I fired up the Weber to grill a couple of steaks for our supper. It still took some time to cook them because I had to keep the flame on high to prevent it from blowing out. Kathy busied herself inside making Baked Sweet Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts and Sliced Tomatoes for the sides.
The weather should be more comfortable to get my outdoor chores completed tomorrow but the wind looks like it might increase in strength towards the afternoon. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
