Before I even wrote last night's Blog, Kathy and I hatched a Plan. The next thing to do, would be to make it work. The first thing was for her to get to Bed before I did, because she has always needed more sleep than anybody. When she was only a child her Family Doctor had told her mother it was because of Kathy's heart condition. Though they were not sure how bad it was back then, the one thing that even her Cardiologist today agrees with is, the more sleep she gets, the better her health will be.
I managed to sleep soundly for most of the night, but with that Plan in the back of my mind, I was awake by 7:00. I had already gotten things ready for our breakfast snack before starting to sort Laundry. I had barely done that when Kathy herself joined me, while carrying the Bedding. It all had to be washed.
There was only enough time to finish my morning Coffee and call the Pharmacy to renew a prescription that I had forgotten to get earlier this week.
I was packed up and heading downstairs to the Second Floor Laundry Room shortly after 9:00. Was I ever shocked when I walked in, to find that I was the only one there. Normally there is always someone else ahead of me. That meant I would start and finish this chore sooner.
Between the first and second loads we took the time to share a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Veggie Pizza. I must be feeling slightly better, because I kick mine up a notch with a few shakes of Red Chili Pepper Flakes.
By the time I had eaten, it was also time to head back. Kathy said she would see me in a few minutes. While I was folding our clean clothes, I had the chance to coach a new tenant to the building, how to use the laundry equipment.
After folding everything and heading back to the Apartment, I startled Kathy whose eyes had unexpectedly closed on her. To give my back a rest we sat together talking, before we worked together putting all the clothes away in the dressers.
Even though this was a special night, we had to brave going out. With the blowing Wind making it difficult to walk, I picked Kathy up with the Car a the rear entrance.
We arrived at Health First Pharmacy close to 4:00 to find the Prescription ready to go.
I didn't feel like cooking supper, so asked Kathy what she wanted only to be told "Something Different". Being careful to avoid any Trick or Treaters that were already going door to door, we headed over to the Michigan Diner. It has been months since we were last there, so we took advantage of the Seniors Menu to order more portion appropriate Halibut Fish with Sweet Potato Fries for supper. The bill reminded me of why it had been so long.
We were able to look out over the neighbouring homes to see hordes of little ones with parents in tow going from house to house. We've been on both ends of the tradition. When Kathy and I owned our house on the corner of Foster and Hansen, kids could see our display from Four Directions. The last year there we had Five Hundred Trick or Treaters.
It was only fitting that we watched the final episode of "Harry Potter" on the night where little witches and wizards were running all around the neighbourhood below.
