Cool Bike Ride and Kijiji’s Responses.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Somehow in the middle of the night I managed to disconnect my CPAP Hose, which ended waking me up having difficulty breathing. It probably took nearly Two Full Hours before I realized the problem and reconnected it. I spent the rest of the night sleeping soundly. We still managed to be up by 8:00 to start our day.

After all the warm weather we have been experiencing it felt wonderful not to have the Air Conditioner running and having the Windows opened. We only have Three Days to enjoy this before we begin having the Century High Temps again for another Week. Looking beyond that the first days of School after Labour Day it will also be warm.

We finished our Morning Reading on the Computers and were outside shortly after 10:00 to enjoy a ride around the Park on our Tandem Bicycle for some exercise. With the North-West Winds gusting to 23 MPH there were some trying times but we made it only stopping long enough for a short talk with our former neighbour Nicole.

As stated last night we had the Leftover Pizza for our lunch along with a snack-cup of Apple Sauce for our dessert.

Back at the Computer I was surprised to see another correspondence from Kijiji. This was what they sent me on Sunday when they pulled my ad for the CPAP.

Sorry for the trouble, but it looks like one of your Kijiji ads was removed. Here’s the scoop!

All items posted to Kijiji must be appropriate to be viewed and purchased by those of any age. Any substance with potential for abuse or misuse cannot be sold on Kijiji, regardless of legality. This includes, but is not limited to, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia (including bongs, pipes, etc.), nicotine delivery devices of any variety, marijuana and medical marijuana, over the counter meds, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaporizers and vaporizer parts. Please refrain from posting any items that meet any of these definitions.

That was when I wrote to them explaining what a CPAP did and they were wrong in their judgement. This was their response to my Reply.

Thanks for reaching out to us! CPAP/BiPAP equipment are prescription items and are considered to be medical necessities for prescribed patients.

Kijiji does not allow users to list or seek any drugs or medications that require a prescription from a licensed practitioner (such as a doctor, dentist, optometrist, or veterinarian). We also do not allow the sale of prescription medical devices.

The unauthorized or illegal sale of a prescription drug involves criminal activity. Selling prescription drugs illegally is considered as when a person initiates into the purchase, sale or trade of prescription drugs which have been illegally or legally obtained.

Not satisfied with their ruling I sent another Reply.

You are correct in acknowledging that CPAPs are Prescription Allocated, but many people are able to upgrade their machines over time. Those people then sell off their original machines to someone to use in Cottages or as a Back-up.  Some cannot afford the High Cost of a new machine therefore look for used equipment similar to a Used Car.  Your policy sounds like you are telling someone they can't take a tablet for a headache or in this case can't use the CPAP because it might keep them breathing.

Kijiji should re-examine their Policies on some of these things. Rules can be amended. I am only trying to help a friend and am truly disappointed by this action.

Upset

This afternoon this was Kijiji’s response.

Thanks for reaching out to us! I understand Richard and thank you for your feedback and we'll take that into consideration when the CPA machine policy goes into review.

They really don’t get it.

For supper Kathy toasted some English Muffins then added Cheddar Cheese and Olives. Thirty Seconds in the Microwave and we had supper. We’re looking forward to sleeping with the Windows and Vents open for a few days. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Kijiji's policies almost sound like they were written by some government bureaucrat. I gather they have the policy in place to protect some drug addict who might buy the machine and use it for the consumption of drugs. Now you will just have to wait for the annual review of the CPAP policy. I wonder if they will invite you to testify at the review, or if you can have counsel there? *smile* Good luck in your dealings with them.

  3. I am so glad Leonard finally went for a sleep test. It showed he stopped breathing 37 times an hour! Now on the CPAP. This little machine has helped so many people. A blessing of the person who needed one and the person trying to sleep next to them.
