Missed Points, Getting Our Coaxial Cable From An Honest Young Man, Happy Hour At The Yacht Club and That Distant Mountain.

Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

Sleeping until 7:30 MST is now becoming a habit but this morning was slightly different. When I woke up I was still as tired as I was when I went to bed last night. Just thinking of that brings back bad memories of the way I felt before being told that I had Sleep Apnea. Once you start treatment by using a CPAP machine to help you breathe at night the only time you normally feel that way is when your symptoms have deteriorated and your machine needs to be adjusted to a higher level. Guess I might be having another Sleepover scheduled at the Sleep Disorder Clinic when we get back to McGregor in the spring.
Fire in California.
After breakfast and getting caught up on our morning reading we didn’t spend too much time sitting around the trailer. While Kathy made her Grocery Shopping List I went outside to pack away our Sunshade and closed up our Awning. We don’t normally leave it out because of the severe gust of wind that come up especially at night, but having looked at the weather forecasts for the area we took the chance. Putting it away today will also save us the hassle of doing it before we leave on Monday.

By 10:00 we were on our way to Blythe, California to run a few errands. Our first destination when we arrived was the Kmart store. We had made better time then we expected at getting there so we decided to just walk around. We look for ways to preserve things we already have and even though we had looked at numerous places before today we got lucky which ended our search for those items. Having been there as late as last week we were happy to see they were also bringing in Summer Clothes. Having learned from past experience if you wait and come back there is a good chance it will have been picked over enough you won’t find it in your size. Kathy managed to get a new top as well as scratching off a couple more things off her 2017 Christmas Shopping List.
Still having time to wait and it had been over four hours since we had breakfast we decided to enjoy a Little Caesar Pizza for lunch. We changed it up a bit and found a new alternative but we also did something else. We only ate half of it and plan on having the other half tomorrow. The last time we ate the whole thing we didn’t et until the next day and we had dinner plans.
Kmart offers a Reward Program that can save you money and we have shopped there a lot this winter and not collected any points. When checking out we thought we should apply for the program and when they asked for our Phone Number, Kathy’s name appeared on the screen. We had applied when we were in the Keys and had forgotten all about it. To think of all the points we lost this year.
Leaving Colorado River Indian Reserve
We drove over to Ace Hardware Store where Kathy sat in the truck reading while I went inside to look if the Sales Representative I needed to talk to was in but she wasn’t. We both sat in the truck people watching and let’s just say we saw some Pretty Shady Characters coming and going that seemed to scatter whenever Law Enforcement drove through the lot. We have been to this store a number of times but never saw these guys.
Tyson Wells Road still very busy.
Our long-awaited call came at exactly 12:00 PST/1:00 MST and Ruben was going to direct us to his home but when he heard we didn’t have a GPS with us he said he’d meet us within a few minutes. Good to his word he arrived with the Twenty-Five Foot Coaxial Cable Extension with SMA Connectors that he had located on Amazon. He had ordered it under his name, on his dime and only expected what it cost him from us. Kathy and I had agreed that it was worth more than that so he was happy to say the Tip would pay for his lunch today. This young man is working three jobs to make ends meet so we hope the tip helped a bit. We had a nice visit with him right in the middle of the parking lot. Before we said our Good-Byes, we promised him we’d call him next year even if it is just to say Hello.

The Quartzsite Yacht Club.

I dropped Kathy off at Albertson’s while I went across the street to Smart and Final where I picked up our Cereal for the next month. At Albertson’s Kathy was still getting the Fruits and Vegetables when I got back there. As we kept shopping it was apparent that we were getting more than we’d come in for and I had to go get more reusable bags from our truck.

You can rent this room overnight.

We managed to get back Home by 3:30 MST and as I unloaded our purchases Gerry came over to say he had reserved our table for 4:00 at the Quartzsite Yacht Club. Since they had a few errands they needed to run they said they would meet us there. It only took a few minutes to get the perishables put away before we were on our way to town.
Driving back to the "Day Use Only" area in La Posa South.
When we arrived at the Yacht Club we went inside and got a table waiting for them to arrive. After a few minutes of waiting I thought I should look on the patio, and who do I see sitting there waiting for us but Gerry and Melinda. We had a laugh about that then started having our Happy Hour Get-Together that we had missed out on. The Fish and Chips were as good as we remembered but the company was better.
Kathy in front of the mountain she wants to touch.
It's still a half mile away or more.
When Kathy and I were here at La Posa South at the beginning of January we had gone on a hike one day because Kathy wanted to be able to touch the one particular mountain that looked to be about a half-mile away. After a Forty-Five-Minute Hike, we were no closer so we had turned back.
Love these Sunsets.
This evening as we neared our trailer Kathy suggested we drive to that mountain in the truck. With a posted speed limit of Fifteen MPH that we never attained we slowly wound our way along the Wash we are parked near until it connected to the Main Road inside the LTVA. After Cautiously Driving for Twenty Minutes all the way back into the "Day Use Only Area" we still didn’t get to that Mountain that Kathy wanted to touch. That looks like a challenge we’ll have to fulfill next winter. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  3. Ruben sounds like a very nice young man. Not many sales people would give that kind of service.

  5. The two times we have parked at LaPosa South it has been just before one of those "Day Use Only Signs". We loved being way out and watching the sunrise over those mountains. We also drove out into the day use area with our truck but when we came to a steep wash decided it was time to turn around. Now that we have the jeep, which is trail rated, we are hoping to have the opportunity to go further out. We saw a lot of ATV's and dirt bikes head out that way. We think it would be fun to see where you end up.
    Stay Safe.
