Bringing Back Memories.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

There’s definitely a terrible side effect of sleeping with the windows wide open at night. You sleep so soundly that the only thing you remember is waking up as if you were drugged. We’d better not say that too loudly or the governments will try to restrict how much fresh air we breathe in a day.

Kathie hugging her son Dwayne when he arrived.
As we sat enjoying our breakfast we made plans as to what errands we needed to run by 1:00 this afternoon. Once we’d written it all down so we wouldn’t forget anything we knew we were safe to do a bit of morning reading. Checking the Weather, Local News, E-mails and then finally the morning blogs it didn’t take long for that extra time we had on our hands to quickly disappear.
A table with Ross's personal accomplishments.
I let Kathy get dressed first this morning while I continued reading and when she finished it was my turn. Every morning when I get dressed it’s also my chore to remake the bed. Now comes a question. How many of you have done something hundreds or even thousands of times and never missed a beat until one day you really hurt yourself? That’s what happen to me today. People with fifth wheel trailers that have full frontal closets with clothing drawers at the end will know what I mean. I had just finished tucking in the bedding and started walking before I was totally balanced. At that point I slammed my left foot right into the bottom of the drawer section of the closet. Strangely not a foul word came to my mouth. That’s probably because I was seeing too many stars. Kathy wanted me to get it checked out but since I was walking on it I suggested we just leave.
Rushing I ran my foot into the base of the drawers.
After driving all the way to Windsor our first stop was at Guardian Storage where we retrieved our Mail before doing some shopping in our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. We then headed over to the Credit Union to do some banking before going to the Dollar Store for a quick purchase.
Kathie's mother Theresa (FC) and her sisters.
We then had to do a little backtracking to Walker Road where we stopped at Rosa’s Pizzeria to pick up a large pan of Penne with Meat Sauce. When we owned our house that was where we always ordered our pizzas from. They were delicious. Luckily they carried it out to our car because my foot was starting to give me problems. Lastly we stopped at Walmart where we picked up the Half Slab Cake that Kathy had ordered earlier this week.
We arrived at Kathie’s apartment at 1:05. I was able to park within feet of the building where after unloading the cake and penne we had to wait for the only working elevator in the building to come from the twelfth floor so we could get down to the Party Room. Within minutes Kathie Ross’s wife and my Kathy and myself were busy making salad fixings, chopping all the ingredients thus allowing people to make their own special combinations. Kathie also set up a table that held Ross’s certificates of accomplishments starting with his military service, to schooling to the time he spent as a leader than as director of the Boy Scouts in Southwestern Ontario.
Guests started arriving by the invited time of 2:00 including family friends and relatives. After everyone had a chance to enjoy the food there was some time for visiting before Kathie Thanked everyone for attending. At that point Kathie her son Dwayne and daughter Christine all shared memories of special things they remembered about Ross. Then the floor was opened to hear what others had to say about Ross. Having known Ross and Kathie for forty years I remembered a person that was always ready to help you out whether it was working on a vehicle, computer or your house. We also remembered a few humorous times when we had gotten together just to have fun.
After the guests had left we helped to clean the party room before returning upstairs to the apartment. There Kathie had lined up a few chores for Dwayne and I to do together. We relocated a china cabinet then removed a window air conditioner as well as reassembling a window frame. After more story telling about Ross it was time for Kathy and I to head for Home.
Family and Guest celebrating Ross's life.
Once I was able to take my shoe off I could see why I needed an Extra Strength Tylenol to ease the pain. The patriotic colours told me that I’d only traumatized the toe but it will be limiting my walking for a short while. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
