Art in the Park and Cancelled Soccer Game.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After going to bed early and sleeping fairly sound last night we still managed to sleep until 8:30 this morning. Once we’d eaten breakfast and finished our morning reading we made plans to go exploring.

Our destination this morning was to Willistead Manor in the old Walkerville section of downtown Windsor where every year an event called Art in the Park is held. All the vendors that have booths at this event are only able to sell crafts, clothing or artistry that they have created or produced nothing imported from the far reaches of the globe.

The weather was perfect with clear skies and temperatures in the upper seventies but with a breeze and the shade of the trees that helped to keep you cool. As typical we found parking blocks away and had to walk over to the park. It’s been a few years since we attended and were surprised how many more vendors and attendees there were compared to the last time that had bad weather spoil the show.

Throughout the venue there were musicians entertaining the public with each their own style of songs. Security was present but there were more First-Aid responders walking around making certain there were no medical issues. There was also a Kiddy-Corner where there was Face Painting, Bouncy Balloon Toys and Kids Crafts to entertain the younger attendees.
We shared

There is an admittance charge and the food vending is totally run by volunteers. The monies raised are used to maintain many of the historic buildings in the Windsor area. It was past noon when we chose to eat on the grounds and were well satisfied by our meal for the price we paid.

If ever you plan on decorating or redecorating a home and want unique items this is the place to find those One-of-a-Kind items that no one can say they have the same. We had done that when we had our home and had compliments on our décor. Alas we left with only ideas running through our heads this afternoon of ways to decorate our apartment and had only bought our lunch.

We stopped at our daughter Karen’s house again today but the only one home was Sanford. After he got a snack from Kathy he was sad to see us leave. We went to Zehr’s Grocery Store to restock our cereal that we emptied at breakfast.

Back at the apartment the sky was starting to cloud up and when Kathy checked her E-mail she got notice that tonight’s soccer game was cancelled. With the forecasted threat of severe weather for this evening the league had ruled on the side of Safety.

After supper I worked on our daucets while Kathy went online to check our accounts. Looks like I’ll be on the phone in the morning straightening up someone’s mess again.  The Local 6 o’clock News reported that this year’s attendance at Art in the Park broke its record and the thunderstorm started by 6:30. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

A Novel Use for Power Point

In one chapter{of Jennifer Egan's 2010 novel, A Visit from the Goon Squad}, Egan uses a Power Point presentation-- that infamous program used by speakers to illustrate their talking points--to illustrate the journal of a 12-year-old girl, using visuals to tell the story of her family. It may seem like a gimmick, but in Egan's hands a much-maligned technological tool becomes a moving storytelling device.

  1. We really enjoy art shows that have such a variety of booth. That Show looks like it would be so much fun and tons to see.
