Getting Twisted and Covered.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Our suspicions about not being served decaffeinated coffee on Saturday along with getting to bed later than normal might have been true. Paying serious attention as to what we were drinking yesterday and going to bed on schedule seemed to have paid off with both of us sleeping like logs. Sleeping with the windows wide open made us rest so well we were both up by 7:30 this morning.

While we were watching the Weather Channel as we ate our breakfast they showed that we could expect rain later tonight. It also showed a cool down in the temperatures coming in at the end of the week. After we did our morning reading Kathy started cooking pepper-steak for supper. So I took the time to add another coat of Urethane to the top of the cart. When she was about to start cooking something else I had to remind her of our conversation yesterday to go finish cleaning the trailer today while the weather was still warm. She had thought that it was going to rain this afternoon but once I told her differently there was a quick change of her cooking plans. Having already slightly sautéed everything in a frying pan we moved it to the slow cooker on low.

We had beans on toast for lunch and were on our way to the trailer before noon hour. We needed to once again open the slides so we could clean around the curbside slide which helped make it easier for me to clean the slide topper as well. Once that was done we closed the slides to make it easier to clean above the slide toppers.

Kathy continued working on the lower part of the curbside while I went to the roadside to work above the slides. The other day there was so much work involved on sealing the roof, cleaning the nose cap and cleaning the other three slides and toppers that I didn’t have time to clean above the slides in the closed position. I was more than halfway along the roadside getting it nicely clean when suddenly the wind picked up to the point I thought the ladder would tip over and that’s when I heard Kathy screaming. I looked up to see a huge dust tornado devil pass between the front of the trailer and the truck.

Kathy said it was a Dust-Devil that had suddenly appeared about fifty feet from the trailer but it was strong enough to pull her camping chair and the bottle of cleaner in its direction. She had to turn her face away because she was being pelted by sand pellets. She also got knocked hard on her arm when the door latch released and slammed shut. As fast as it appeared after passing the trailer it disappeared. When she later went inside to get her purse the kitchen counter, the floor and the sofa had a thick layer of dust on them that wasn’t there when we arrived.

We made it back to the apartment by 4:30 and the first thing Kathy did was head for the shower because her hair was full on sand and it had been warm enough for the both of us to work up a sweat. We enjoyed the pepper steak over rice for supper and have plenty left for another meal. Kathy did some reading online while I added yet another layer of Urethane to the trailer cart.

Our area is supposed to have rain overnight and into the morning tomorrow but there is always something we can do in preparation for our trip south in 88 days. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. There is about no time during the day that I can drink caffeinated coffee. Decaffeinated is always my choice.

Oh what a mess. You clean; mother nature dirties.

  2. We get to enjoy those dust devils frequently in the desert, kinda get used to them, never know when they will pop up. We tie things down but never use our awning unless we are sitting under it and ready to retract it whenever needed.
