Catch-up Fathers Day

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It truly is amazing how times have changed. Years ago when I was growing up on days that were deemed special, families would gather to celebrate the occasion. Even when we were raising our children the emphasis was not so much on the occasion but just being together as family. Today with the need for the kids sometimes having to move away to find work to support their families the coming together part has sometimes become more difficult.
Another thing that has changed is the method of communicating. Years ago if for some reason you could not attend the family gathering it was justified by a personal phone call. Today you expect not only phone calls but E-mails or even a phone message left to you from a cell phone while they are busy at work.
So to all the Fathers and Grandfathers and the generations of dads before them Happy Fathers Day.
Another thing that has changed for me personally is working on the computer. Years ago when my kids were learning computers at school I never touched it. Then teaching Safety courses at work introduced me to computers. Afterwards I started using a computer as the secretary for a bowling league. After retirement I started reading blogs written by people who shared my passion for RVing and playing a few E-games. Last year at this time we had sold our home, getting ready to move, taking our grandsons on vacation and upgrading our trailer there was no time for the computer.
Today after returning from a short trip we were busy working on the computers making entries, answering E-mails and catching up on Blogs we'd fallen behind on while we were away. Now that we are bloggers it's almost like a job without the paycheque attached to it but it's also an addiction that makes you feel good. It is a new way of life to those of us that grew up only seeing computers on television and mostly on Sci-Fi movies. Life has changed.
A quick clarification to a comment on yesterday's blog that was our friend Gerry on the E-Trike and I've since added a caption to that effect since. That picture was taken at the RV Surplus Store in Elkhart and those units are not meant for driving in buildings because they are set for road speeds and are not cheap either.
With only 16 days before the start of our next adventure there are still things that I have to finish on the trailer and with Summer officially arriving in 3 days it could become a bit of a challenge. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

  1. Times have definitely changed. I like the instant communication of the internet but I miss watching the mail for a special card or letter to arrive. I think letter writing is a lost art.

  2. No pay involved with blogs, because they provide their own reward with the wonderful people you're put in touch with. At least that's my feeling.

  3. Yes the computer world sure has changed everyone's lifestyle, notnecessarily for the good,in my opinion.

  4. They have changed for sure. I have found for me personally that as I get older I have found that the internet has allowed me to reconnect with family and friends that I have lost touch with over the years and the miles. Now I can chat with my cousins in the west anytime I want for free, or drop a note to an old friend just to touch base and say hi. If not for the internet I would not have found so many new friends either.
I bet you are getting excited to get on the road. Take care and travel safe.
