Patio Extension Completion and Pizza On The Grill.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We have learned that when we have a strenuous day working in the heat it is wise to have at least a day off to let our bodies recover. Dealing with a Doctor’s Appointment, Grocery Shopping and a Birthday Celebration was not a totally relaxing day but a day off just the same. That didn’t stop us from sleeping like a couple of rocks either last night. Even when we woke around 8:00 this morning it seemed like we were rested but not completely relaxed.
Adding the third Patio Stone today.
Note three more Patio Stones stacked on the patio behind me.
We spent only a short while on our Computers before heading outside by 10:00 in an attempt to complete the Patio Extension. Today we were fortunate in the fact that the Humidex would not exceed 86 F (30 C) meaning that it was cooler then Friday and Sunday when we had pushed ourselves in above 100 Degree Heat.
The Grounds Crew were busy working at leveling the hill on the Golf Course where I have been spreading the dirt we had from the holes we planted the trees in. I walked over explaining there were two more pails to dump and they showed me where to put it. They also explained they would be laying Sod tomorrow so once they were done leveling I’d have to hold on to any other soil.
Digging out the Edging Bricks.
Just like Friday the last Stone that had been laid Sunday was Rocking so it had to be reset. That Stone required many tries to get it sitting perfectly. We were in the process of laying the second Patio Stone when we got a Phone Call about Licensing for our truck. Here in Ontario it seems the Ministry of Transport is constantly changing the rules for Privately Owned Vehicles all as a means of another Tax Grab. We’ll have to investigate further what has to be done before we head south this fall in order to stay legal. By the time we stopped for lunch we only had two more of the 120 lb. Patio Stones left to install.

Kathy once again did a great job of balancing our meal by sharing a Ham and Swiss on Rye Bread Sandwich along with a Salad topped off with another slice of Rye Bread with Rhubarb Sauce for dessert. She realized that we were still burning off plenty of Carbohydrates today and could afford to eat a few more to keep us going.
Leveling the Edging Bricks by tamping the soil with a hammer.
The routine of set and reset continued until we were about to complete the last Stone. Not having created the Mid-Yard Garden I wasn’t sure how the Bordering had been laid. Taking it apart one Edging Brick at a time I was able to remove additional soil below them enough that the Patio Stone itself went into place without any modifications. With that finally in place some soil was returned for support and the front of the Border looked good.
Even with shadows the finished result is nice.
Having to sit down to Rehydrate and catch my breathe I pointed out to Kathy that the side Bordering was now out of alignment. Back on my Hands and Knees the Bordering was removed, Tree Roots were trimmed back before more Support Soil was added. By the time the wall was rebuilt it looked fresh and clean. Kathy helped sweep up while I put the tools away. After only lifting nearly Two Tons of weight today we agreed to wait until tomorrow to rearrange things on the Patio

It was after 5:00 when we put a Hawaiian Pizza on our Weber Q to cook up. Using a Pizza Stone to distribute the heat and a Pizza Pan that had No Holes our meal was ready in twenty minutes. Since we’d already had lots of Carbs for lunch we only shared half of our twelve-inch pizza and saved the rest for tomorrow’s supper.
Delicious and Filling.
It’s a good feeling to accomplish such a time-consuming project that we can be proud of. Tomorrow we’ll see what else we can scratch off of our To-Do List. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
