Rocking in the Wind.

Our Location today is Old Town, Florida.

Even with today not being a travel day my mind would not let me sleep soundly last night. Luckily Kathy was able to get a decent night of sleep. We crawled out of bed moments after 8:00 this morning.
Nature Trail.
After our breakfast of berry covered waffles we headed out for a walk around the park before 9:30. The reason for the early walk is because where we are located is on the edge of an area that is being predicted to have high winds to severe storms maybe even tornadoes throughout this afternoon and evening.
Nature Trail Continued.
One reason for our walk is to see which sites we would fit our rig in if we were to return to this park and we do plan on doing just that. Kathy says this is her favorite park so far and most people don’t know about it because it is under advertised. The only thing that many people might not like is that it is a minimum 21 mile round trip to the nearest grocery store, hardware store and gas stations.
While we were out for our walk we also got to talk with Joe and Deb Vess out for a walk with Harley. We started talking shop about our trailers because they also have a Avalanche. We parted ways with the invite that they come over to see what changes we had made to our trailer.
Our trailer directly behind Kathy.
As the wind picked up we headed back to our home on wheels just in time for Joe and Harley to stop and checkout what we had talked about earlier. Kathy got a puppy fix with Harley while I took Joe for an extensive tour and narration of our modifications. Joe left saying that he was on overload of all the changes we had made but they were all positive in his opinion.
Whitecaps on the Suwannee River.
After Kathy told us that a tornado was reported to have touched down near Adairsville, Georgia, Joe headed back to his trailer so they could call home to see if his home was still standing. Unfortunately there were a number of homes and businesses destroyed and a death reported.
Palm and Pine trees growing together side by side.
Kathy and I enjoyed some of the homemade chicken noodle soup for lunch but had to put up with the rocking of the trailer from the high wind gusts. Even the water on the Suwannee River was covered with white-capped waves. Even though the sun finally made an appearance the wind continued to blow throughout the rest of the day.
Kathy sat outside for five of the ten minutes the wind stopped today.
Kathy and I would like to welcome Curt Lowry as our latest follower but unfortunately there is no blogger information to pass along for a shout-out. Again thanks for following along Curt and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Krackers

How many actors does it take to change a light bulb?

Only one!

They don't like to share the spotlight.

  1. Rick and Kathy, Thank you for the shoutout and mention on your blog. I really enjoy reading about different fulltimers lives and yours is very interesting and informative. Sorry you couldn't find any info on me since I also have a blog and thought it had my profile info when I signed in to post on your site. Here is my blog address if you want to know more. http://illinoiscampers.blogspot.com/
I put your blog on my list of blogs that I follow so I can keep up with the two of you. The wife and I are just a couple of years away from going full time ourselves and I enjoy reading your experiences. I found your site on Hitchupandgo. Stay safe and just be glad you are here in Illinois. It's supposed to get down to -1 tomorrow night. Thanks again Curt

  2. WOW....what a day. Hope that wind dies down....not fun in an RV. I was hoping that chicken noodle soup wouldn't go to waste! Isn't it fun to share ideas with other RVers about the changes you have done...
Maybe tomorrow wont be so windy! Enjoy....

  3. I am awake in the early hours as well.Woken by high winds and rain here in South Central Florida. It has been quite some time since it has rained here. I am actually looking forward to cooler weather for a few days. Glad to hear that the tornadoes skipped your area.

  4. We got the wind, the rain and were missed by the tornadoes too. That is a nice area by the Suwannee River.

  5. That does look like a great park. Please mention the name in your next blog so I can add it to my wish list for when we finally get travelling.
Hope the winds die down so you can continue to enjoy your time there.

  6. I got your note about the park. Thanks. I went onto Tripadvisor and looked at the reviews. Have you had any of the issues noted there? Most reviews are very positive and I have made a note of this place for our future adventures. Thanks again.
