Last Summer Weekend.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

At the beginning of the week I was the one having the most difficulty sleeping but last night it was Kathy who was the restless spirit. We really are looking forward to the start of our next adventure in 4 days because that will mean we will both be sleeping the way we should be.
Since the Weather Channel predicted a day with a high humidex reading above the century mark we decided to take it easy and stay put in our apartment for the day. Even the short trip I made downstairs to collect our mail felt like I had stepped into an oven and I was still inside the building. I never thought I’d say it felt good to be back inside our Air Conditioned apartment.
I worked throughout most of the day on the photo file I’ve been doing and now have it down to the final sorting before uploading the final copy. Kathy continues to do research on many of the upcoming trips that we have planned but by the middle of the afternoon she needed a nap to make up for the sleep she didn’t get last night.
When we read other peoples blogs many of them comment how they don’t like weekends or especially long weekends. The reason is the invasion of the Weekend Warriors. We probably all fit that profile at one time or another during our working careers while raising our families. Now we are watching other young families trying to cram a lot of family time into those few days. With us being past that stage in our lives we are more sensitive to the noises, activities and partying that takes place in that short time. Unfortunately in the last number of years many of those Weekend Warriors show no respect for nature or the peace and quiet other RV’ers attempt to enjoy.
This Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer and the last big hurrah for many of the weekenders. Their children will be heading back to school on Tuesday if they are not back already. That is one of the reasons that Kathy and I are waiting to hit the road on Tuesday. There will be far less traffic on Tuesday than Monday and the ones that will be on the road will be driving more sensibly then the drivers needing to get home so they go back to work and their children return to school. In other words it will be a lot Safer on the roads.
Tonight we continue to catch up on reading blogs we follow and working on the computers and getting excited about leaving on Tuesday. Top that off with the fact that it’s only 116 days left until Christmas Day and life is good. Thanks for following along. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. We choose to be away from our resorts on the long weekends of possible, nice and quiet here at the farm. Next week we pretty well have the campgrounds to ourselves until we head south.

  3. We are right in the middle of the holiday weekend here in Portland, but the Marriott that we are staying in has been pretty quiet so far! Enjoy and stay cool!

  4. I know what you mean about 'weekend warriors'. I understand that alot of people can only get away on weekends, so we plan our little get aways in the summertime during the week. We avoid all the hubbub of weekends.

  5. We gave away our weekend reservation to our daughter and her family. We too have found that holiday weekends in campgrounds tend to be full and noisy. Sometimes not all that relaxing.
