Sick Days

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Most of us have had to take time off work for many reasons but occasionally it was because we were actually sick. Now that we are retired who could imagine taking a sick day but that's what I had to do.
If you look back to Saturday's post you will note only one picture. One picture is very odd for us. The only other time is if we are having trouble with Blogger and I will make a statement to that effect.
Saturday after having gone for blood donar that morning I continued on to the storage yard where our trailer is parked. Having  brought a change of clothes, lunch, snacks and plenty of water to drink  I figured that I could make progress on a modification to the trailer I was making.
Stopping for hydration often I was making slow but steady progress on the projects. One of my jobs before lunch was to do a spraypaint touchup and with the heat index being much higher than the actual temperature it was no surprise to me that when I applied the paint it resembled eggs in a fry pan. Even with continued short breaks with water and snacks I found myself  becoming disoriented and decided to call it a day.
Back home I started feeling nauseous and thought laying down for a short nap would do the trick. After supper Kathy and I made a short visit to Karen and Greg's to find everyone there resting up after spending most of the day outside. Home again I caught up on blogs we follow only to be feeling unusually tired.
Saturday night's post came to an abrupt end when I could no longer function. Almost thirty hours passed before I again started feeling human again and all that time Kathy was by my side in case she was needed. Needless to say she slept lightly the last two nights and said she felt like she was laying next to a furnace.
I felt sick to my stomach but never got sick. We feel that possibly the heat exposure I was exposed to on Saturday was the cause of this problem. Kathy has been tired and feeling rundown from trying to make certain I was comfortable.
Now instead of being ahead with things on the trailer I'm two days behind. Guess that's why they say RVers plans are written in jello. We are still 13 days until we're back on the road and Summer officially arriving in 30 days. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.

P.S.: Thank you Kathy for being there for me.

  3. Rick...been there and done that and it is definitely no fun! Our first summer in Arizona I was trying to be the tough guy out working in 100+ degree weather and paid the price. I was sick for three days and have never forgotten that terrible feeling. Glad you are on the mend and take care good care.

  4. Gotta take it easy, heat and sun can really mess you up. I now always wear a hat after a couple of bouts with heat stroke. Glad you are feeling better.
