Kathy didn’t fall asleep until after 2:00 this morning. She could not stop thinking about cooking. When the Alarm went off at 6:15 she could have easily rolled over and gone back to sleep instead she realized the importance of the time.
We were walking in the door of the Zehr’s grocery store seconds before 7:00 which is the time set aside for Seniors Only Shopping. Since this was Friday lots of the shelves had already been stocked for the upcoming weekend so we managed to get nearly everything on our Shopping List. There were still lots of empty shelves but nothing compared to what we saw a week ago.

Some of the things we noticed today was there was nobody wiping down the Shopping Carts already inside but by the time we left someone was wiping down the ones being brought in. There was a Security Guard using a counter to keep track of how many people were in the store. When we went to Check Out there were only Two Cashiers open and they have now installed permanent Clear Shields so you the customer won’t contaminate the employees while actually standing within a couple of feet from them.

Heading towards home we noticed that the Fuel Prices were again lower then the other day. Back at the Apartment after loading a Shopping Cart downstairs with our purchases Kathy brought it upstairs while I parked the Car. When everything was put away we finally had a lite snack in place of breakfast and Two Cups of our morning refreshments to keep us going.

We spent some time at the Computers but by 10:30 we were back working together in the kitchen. While I chopped Onions, Celery, Red Peppers, Yellow Peppers, Orange Peppers and Sirloin Steak Kathy transferred the ingredients, added the Seasoning and finally mixed everything together in the Crock Pot.
Once everything was cooking Kathy made us Baked Beans on Toast for lunch.
Pepper Steak in the making.
We returned to the Computers and even though my eyes were growing weary from the early hour we got up at I simply walked around the room a couple of times. I even stirred the contents of the Crock Pot in order to keep myself awake. Kathy wasn’t so lucky and had quite a lengthy Snap in her Recliner.
When she woke up she immediately started getting supper ready. Within minutes she was serving the Pepper Steak on a bed of Egg Noodles with a bit of Spaghetti Sauce. It was melt in your mouth delicious and the best part is there is enough for a few more meals.

On the 6 o’clock Local News they reported more cases of the Coronavirus being found in our region. Looks like we’ll be making less trips out. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Stay safe. Do you have a balcony where you could sit out for some fresh air?

    1. Yes we open the door for about 1/2 hr a day to let fresh air in as well. Kinda cold here to sit outside and the sun is hidden in the clouds

  2. Actually I have found the restriction to not be that bad of a deal. It is a lot like the first 2-3 weeks after a hurricane tears the town up but without the debris all over the place.

  3. Glad you were able to get some supplies on Senior Day hope you can stretch it out so you both do not have to expose yourselves now that there are more cases in your area.

Are you under a mandatory shelter-at-home order?

    1. Yes but the stores are set up for senior shopping and you really are not close to anyone and if you do come across someone usually they will back away 6 to 12 feet from you. I wear a mask and gloves and have wipes in the car to wipe down my purse and shoes. I feel pretty safe shopping at 7:00AM.

  6. I was able to get some groceries delivered to Dad/Ann via a new FaceBook page in order to keep them out of the shops.

I posted that I needed groceries purchased. A kind soul offered to help, she bought the items and emailed me the receipt, I send her an e-transfer for the funds plus a few $ for gas and she delivered the groceries to the door.

Meninkilts.ca is also doing deliveries but they are swamped so I've sent them an email to get on their list but needed help for today and this kind soul stepped up. Great community effort in Windsor Essex.

  7. Today is the first day in over two weeks that we have been off our property. I ordered a meal online from Cracker Barrel. Drove the 10 miles to town to get it. They brought it out and put it in the car.

    That's it. Exciting isn't it.

  9. I think the grocery stores are getting back to normal. Havent seen shields yet. I don't think I could get up that early to go shopping. I'll just fight the young crowd.
