Confirming Upcoming Surgeries and The Winds Are Back.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Even though we had the Windows and Roof Vents open we were too warm most of the night because we didn’t have the fan running to bring in any fresh air. We barely stayed awake long enough to see the Local News at 11 o’clock because we were still tired from the night before. That made no difference as we both spent most of the night tossing and turning.

We were both awake by 8:00 this morning so even though we didn’t have too much time at Home this morning we had the chance to enjoy our breakfast and to finish our Coffee/ Tea while doing our morning reading. Grabbing some change from the Laundry Money that we purchased yesterday we were out the door minutes after 10:00.

Our destination was Windsor to see our Optometrist that I’ve been seeing for over thirty years but at a different location. The downtown building that he has been in the entire time was refusing to renew any of their tenant’s contracts. They were probably the last tenants to move out. That is not what you would call a good business practice. The new location is in a newer development away from the downtown and it is costing them less in rent but the patients now have to pay for parking.

We arrived at 10:45 but didn’t get called until our appointed time. After checking both our eyes and confirming that we are both ready to have Cataract Surgery. The good thing is that Kathy’s Diabetes is not affecting her eyes it is strictly age related. Knowing how long it takes to get in to see the top specialist in this field and the time to book the surgery David recommended seeing them this fall and scheduling the surgery for after our return next spring.

Knowing beforehand that we were heading for the Southwest this last winter he was all inquiring How it was, what we saw and where we went. Since he’s younger then we are he’ll keep dreaming for the day he closes up shop to start traveling like us. Hopefully that’s not too soon or we’ll have to find another Optometrist.

It was nearly noon so we headed over to Howard Avenue where we planned on going to Wendy’s for lunch. Imagine our surprise when we found it closed up, the signs removed and a Realtors Sign on the front lawn. We’ve eaten at that location since our return this spring.
Almost forgot to take a picture.
Looking across the street we saw the Michigan Diner so we headed over there. We can get burgers anywhere but this small chain makes the best Fish and Chips in the area. We took our time eating even though we arrived in the middle of lunch hour and the place filled up minutes after we gave our order.

We still had time to pass after we finished eating lunch so we went over to the west end Walmart where we walked around until nearly 1:30. Kathy found a comfortable pair of shoes but they were loose because it was a wide shoe. We went through all that style of shoe box only to discover they were all Wide Widths. There was nothing there for people with slender feet.

Now we headed over to my family doctor’s office off of Huron Church Road. He has been my family doctor for over thirty years as well. Our family were some of his first patients when he started setting up his Private Practice. As typical George was running about ten minutes behind but he made certain to address all my concerns and will schedule me to have a growth on my shoulder removed.
The blowing Flags show the kind of wing we had all day.
Since we had gotten some salads at Walmart we swung back Home at Wildwood Golf and RV Park to get them put in the fridge before heading off towards Amherstburg.

We stopped at Sun Parlour Trailer where we talked to Cathy about ordering a Vent Cover to go over our new MaxxAir Exhaust Vent. The reason we want this is to prevent the UV Rays from making the plastic lid brittle and to give it added protection against Hail. She went through all her supplier’s catalogues before actually calling one. She unfortunately was only able to leave a voice mail so we’ll have to wait for their answer.

Taking the chance that the Walmart in Amherstburg might actually have Kathy’s size shoe we went to check it out. Whoever is ordering stock for these stores is going to end up with a lot of unsold shoes on the shelf because of their Widths. We got a few more things before leaving the store.

When we got outside the forecasted high winds for the day had arrived so we stopped at Little Caesars and got a Medium Hawaiian Pizza to go. We waited until we got Home to enjoy it and it had cooled just enough that we could eat it safely.

We are presently getting 30 MPH Wind Gusts and they are supposed to increase through tomorrow. With no errands or appointments scheduled we’ll see what we can accomplish closer to Home. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. I hope Kathy fines the shoes she needs soon. I have a problem with the sizes in that different shoe brands seem to have difference in size.

  2. Your dentist may validate your parking if you have to pay. Mine does, which is really nice. It is good business practice. :)

  3. I was in Walmart this afternoon looking for new shoes, too, and the two kinds I liked were both Wide. An entire row of both, all wide sizes. ??? They must have gotten a good deal? Well, they didn't sell ME a pair. Bummer, huh? :(
