Backtracking, Supporting A Great Cause and Getting Ready.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Last night when we lay down to sleep we could still hear the gentle patter of Rain on our roof. By the time we got up this morning we were quite happy to see the Sun shining and the pavement on the road starting to dry but it was still only 41 F (5 C) inside our trailer. One comment on yesterday’s blog questioned why we weren’t running our heat at night. With the warmth that we feel under our Winter Bedsheets we are comfortable enough without wasting the heat in the room we are not in. When we get up in the morning we can use the Electric Fireplace or the Furnace to make ourselves more comfortable without wasting the energy needed to do so throughout the night.  In the future when we return to the southwest we will invest in a Blue Flame Catalytic Heater which will be used as a better means of heating our Home.

We managed to get all our morning reading and chores completed before we headed out the door around 11:45. Our destination was the town of Essex but we had to do some backtracking. We were within two miles of town when we were stopped by road construction on North Malden Road. What was odd was there were no signs giving advanced warning so after sitting still with no movement in traffic we as all the other vehicles that were stopped used driveways to turn around. We were nearly back at the Park before there was a cross street that would get us to where we needed to go.

Our first destination was at McDonalds for lunch. We could have easily had lunch at Home but we had our reasons. Today was in support of Ronald McDonald House all over where families who have children who are being hospitalized get to stay free. Here in Windsor the Ronald McDonald House is set up in a wing of the hospital so the parents can be close to their children. It eases their financial burden, relieves them of some stress and has been shown to help the children recover quicker knowing their parents are close at hand. Today we both had a De-café Coffee and a Big Mac for lunch and with each of those items sold today McDonalds puts a dollar aside for Ronald McDonald House. Local Celebrities, Police, Paramedics, Fireman and just Anyone that wanted to volunteered selling pins, pencils, pads and balloons all for making this fundraiser a success. So along with having lunch we helped to support a worthy cause.

With lunch finished we stopped at the local Canadian Tire where I picked up Windshield Washer Fluid for both the car and the truck.

Since it has been a while that we did any Grocery Shopping today was also the day for that. We drove over to the No-Frills grocery store where we refreshed our supply of fruits and vegetables as well as a few other things.

It was after 3:00 when we finally got Home. The sun was bright with hardly any breeze so after the groceries were put away Kathy started doing indoor cleaning and vacuuming. I was outside topping off fluids on both our vehicles before starting to partially empty the basement. When our trailer goes in to have the slide repaired there is a list of other things that need to be addressed and one of those happens to be replacing our Automatic Transfer Switch. Since the first day we have had our new Home there has been a loud Hum coming from that switch. It does not matter where the Electric Power is coming from, Shore Power, Generator or Inverted Battery Power the switch Hums

It was just before 5:00 when Kathy called me in for supper. One of the things she had picked up at the No-Frills grocery store from their Deli Counter was a Veal Parmesan that only needed to be heated in the Micro-Wave. It turned up quite tasty, not overly salted and filling enough to feed the both of us.
We are normally in the 70's by this time of year.
The Sunshine and mild breeze we had today was only a tease. For the next few days we won’t be seeing the Sun and it will be non-stop rain. Because the ground is already Oversaturated with the Rain we have already had, Meteorologist are saying there is a good chance of localized flooding. Think we’ll be inflating our Sea-Eagle Kayak? Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  2. I was so hoping for sunshine and warm temperatures when we get downstate and instead it pretty much looks like your picture. Oh well we will be with our family. Stay dry...hope you do not have to inflate the Kayak.

  3. Thanks for the explanation, we are all different! When I have a question, I ask. :) I prefer warmth all the time. Stay dry, we, too, enjoyed the sun yesterday. What huge crowds at McDonalds, such a great cause.
