Change Of Design and Friendly Visit.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With having such a busy day yesterday by the time we hit the sack last night the only thing I remembered was seeing a sliver of light making its way into the bedroom this morning. We’d actually slept in so we must have needed the extra sleep.

Showing how the Inverter is mounted on the wall the other day.
I’d barely got all the window shades up in the main room and breakfast started when Kathy joined me downstairs. With guests coming to visit this evening we not only discussed what we would be working on during the day but also what cleaning needed to be done before the visit. It’s hard to believe we now have just over two weeks to get everything ready for our trip south. After only briefly reading a few things on the computer I completed my inside chores before heading outside. Kathy needed to finish her bookkeeping and was having trouble for the last few days getting access to our Bell account which was stopping her from balancing our budget.
Cutting the new Base Board for the Inverters.
The other day when I had mounted one of our Pure Sine Wave Inverters I had noticed the wall it was mounted on wasn’t too solid. Since I planned on mounting the second Pure Sine Wave Inverter beneath it I had to beef up the mounting area. To accomplish that I had to remove the first inverter then I had to locate where the vertical supports were in the wall. Using a piece of three quarter inch plywood I only had to cut it the height of the basement. With the material cut to size I temporarily mounted the inverters, then the fuse holders and the solenoids. I managed to do all that with fasteners that I had in my organizers but when I looked for the proper screws to fasten the plywood to the wall structure I didn’t have the right size.
These are Solenoids, Fuses and Fuse Holders.
The fuse on the left is for 175 Amps
The fuse on the right is for 275 Amps
I went to tell Kathy who was buried in paper work before going to the McGregor Home Hardware store in hopes of getting something to work. The best screws they had would not have been my first choice but I could make them work.
Chicken Noodle Soup and Garden Salad.
Notice Kathy's paper work in the background.
Back Home Kathy had finally been able to access our Bell account entering exactly the same information that it had not excepted for the last few days. Since it was past noon we decided to stop for lunch. Even though the temperature was comfortable enough to have the windows open the breeze was still a bit nippy. Kathy made Chicken Noodle Soup and a nice Garden Salad for lunch.
The Base Board screwed to the wall
with the solenoids and fuse-holders mounted.
Power Disconnect Switches mounted above drain pipe.
With lunch finished Kathy came outside and had me put our new compressor on the picnic table so she could clean it. Our son had it for a number of years but only used it once in a while. It was stored in his garage but was subjected to lots of sawdust. By the time Kathy was finished the machine looked brand new.
Both Inverters mounted solidly on wall.

While Kathy was cleaning the compressor it was now time for me to start mounting the heavy mounting board against the basement wall. With each of the new screws that were put in the wall the board became more solid. With the board in place I was able to install the Inverters. Once they were in place it was time to start wiring them using the Welding Cable.
Perogies with shredded cheese and bacon bits
as well as nearly frozen Strawberries.
Kathy called me for supper shortly after 4:00. She had cooked up some nice Perogies with Shredded Cheese and Bacon Bits. She also served Strawberries from the fridge that were half frozen. As mentioned before our new Fridge periodically acts like a freezer and half our Freezer freezes one day but warms up the next and defrosts everything. We’ve lost lots of food with this thing so we are looking forward to its replacement soon.
Wiring starting to take shape.
After supper I closed up the printer and put away the computers while Kathy did the dishes. I then went back outside to move the truck so our guests could park at our site. I went back to the basement to continue making the battery cables and totally lost track of time when Kathy told me our guest were due to arrive any minute. Sitting squat in the basement for so long makes it difficult to straighten your legs and stand up.

I’d barely gotten straightened when our Guests and Friends Gerry and Sandy arrived. Not the way you normally start showing your new Home but Gerry was interested in what I’m doing and why. Inside Kathy was already giving Sandy the Grand Tour and being the gracious hostess. After getting the basement secured Gerry and I went inside where Gerry presented us with a nice bottle of wine as a house warming gift. Now it was my turn to give the tour and explaining what we would have like to have slightly different.

Gerry joined Sandy and Kathy in the living room while I quickly washed and changed my clothes to make myself more presentable. We sat comparing the differences and likes to their trailer, talking of where we will be going on this trip and what things we’ll try to do while away. Before we knew it the evening had flown by and even though there was still plenty more to talk about it was time to say good night. We probably won’t get together until next spring as they have already winterized their trailer for the year. Thank You Gerry and Sandy for the House Warming Gift and we look forward to seeing you again in the spring.

Tomorrow the weather is not looking too promising but we’ll see what we can get into. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
