Celebration Shopping, Not A Scam, Last Minute Scramble and Second Christmas Celebration.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After having unseasonably warm temperatures for the last few days that all changed as the sun dropped below the horizon yesterday. The cold north winds started blowing and our night time low dropped down to 48 F (9 C) but with the Wind-chill it felt much cooler. That was somewhat of a good thing because it meant the covers weren’t getting tossed to the foot of the bed through the night. It did not stop me from having another one of those working dreams again last night. As mentioned in one of the comments they are more like a night-mare because it causes my mind to continually think about it night after night instead of allowing me to sleep restfully.
D.J. couldn't understand why we are giving
Christmas Gifts now.
Tired of laying in bed and not sleeping I finally started doing my morning reading by 7:00. The only benefit was that I was catching up on the blogs that I’d missed reading last night because of our lengthy blog. Kathy joined me around 8:00 but immediately needed me to turn the furnace on because the cold temperature was too much for her Neuropathy. For breakfast my cereal and coffee were satisfying while Kathy needed hot cereal and coffee to start feeling the warmth from the furnace.

It was shortly after 9:30 when we were on our way to the Walmart in Amherstburg. Even though we already purchased the turkey for the family celebration Kathy wanted to create a fruit-tray to bring as part of the dessert table. She found a small Water Mellon, Cantaloupe, Honey Dew Melon, Pineapple and some Grapes. The containers of Strawberries had more green berries than ripe so we left them behind. With our purchases we then headed to the No Frills grocery store where we had better luck with the Strawberries and Fruit Dip.
We arrived Home just on time to get an automated call saying there was a problem with Kathy’s saving’s account. Using the phone number from our records she found out that if you don’t use the savings part of the account at least once a year the account automatically freezes so it was not a scam. With the aid of the clerk on the phone unfreezing the account she was able transfer some funds to reactivate it.

Remember we each had a Spare Rib Dinner at Gyros and More for lunch yesterday, well for lunch today we had the leftovers that we’d brought Home. Kathy used the convection oven for a quick warm up and they tasted the same as they did yesterday.
After lunch Kathy planned to wrap the new Christmas Gifts we’d purchased yesterday for our two granddaughters’ boyfriends while I continued working on the truck. I’d just gotten the clearance lamps that needed replacing off due to rusted fasteners when Kathy stuck her head out the door saying she didn’t have enough wrapping supplies. Since I needed new fasteners it was easy to close up so we could take care of both those issues at once.

We headed up Walker Road to the Home Depot where I managed to get the Stainless Steel Fasteners that I needed while Kathy went next door to the Dollarama where she found all the Wrapping Supplies she needed and a few more. We also made a quick stop at the Zehrs Super Store where Kathy went in to get some crackers to add to our celebration contribution. The place was packed and she struggled with the crowds while I struggled to find a parking spot. You’d have thought it was a Christmas Sale or something.
It was past 4:00 and we’d well-worn off lunch so we stopped at Wendy’s where we ordered Chicken Wraps off of their Value Menu. We were more than satisfied.

We arrived Home close to 5:00 which just gave us enough time to change out of our working clothes gather some gift-bags and head back towards West Windsor. Our daughter Rose has just purchased and moved into last week an older home which means she’s no longer paying rent and will eventually own this home. This place is much larger than the last place they were renting and will need some T.L.C. but will be worth it in the end. We had the grand tour before we sat down to share the gifts we’d brought.
Our grandson D.J. just couldn’t understand why we were having Christmas so early but appreciated everything he was given. Munaf had stopped working on repairs on the rear bathroom that a friend was helping him do. He’s always amazed and appreciative of any gift we give him. Rose not only had her Christmas Gifts to open but since her birthday is December 23rd we also recognized her special day. Rose and Munaf also surprised us with a highly appreciated gift. One we can truly make use of.

We left shortly after 8:00 and stopped at the Gas Station to fuel the car before finally getting Home around 9:00. Today’s high temperature only hit 63 F (17 C) so we didn’t work up a sweat. We’re both tired so hopefully we’ll have no problems sleeping tonight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Wow, another busy day for you. Christmas, I must have missed something! LOL I don't celebrate it, any more. Susan does Thanksgiving dinner, thank goodness. I need to go back and read your last post. I have a feeling I didn't read it.

  2. This will be our first Christmas away from home so it will be a bit weird for me especially. We will see our kids today and Monday but no exchange. We will send cards from wherever we are and save everyone a lot of money!

  3. It would be great if people were in the Christmas Spirit all year round.
