Working Nights, Finding Solutions, Truck Service and Making Sense.

Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

We were both more than ready to get to bed early again last night but then Kathy tossed and turned for well over an hour before actually falling asleep. When my head hit that pillow, I don’t recall turning over onto my side as I was gone to Dreamland.
This Morning's Sunrise.
For most dreaming is a wonderful thing but for someone like myself it can be a Curse or a Nightmare which ever you want to call it. When I dream of doing something physical I will be physically moving in my sleep similar to sleep walking which I did as a child but laying in bed or sitting on the side of it and moving as if I’m actually working. For a short stint in my Career I was asked to teach a Human Rights Course to plant workers as well as Supervision. My training went well but after I started teaching it at work I also taught it during the time I was supposed to be sleeping. Kathy was very well educated on Workplace Human Rights.
Only minutes later the clouds moved in.
I have been Building and Designing things since before I entered High-School. Recently Kathy and I had discussed the possible need of carrying our Generator along with our Bicycles and a few other things on the rear of our trailer. The Extra Weight would have required pulling a small trailer behind our Home and the thought of double towing would restrict our travels in a number of states so that idea was dashed. Then we remembered Rene and Jeanette on RV Voyager carrying their Harley Davison Touring Motorcycle behind their Cardinal Fifth Wheel on a platform called a Swivel Wheel.
Almost Clear Skies
Last night while I was sleeping I was Designing and Building my own version of a Swivel Wheel so that when disconnected from the trailer by one person it could be used as a light duty Flatbed Utility Trailer in less than five minutes. When I woke up this morning I felt like I hadn’t slept all night. Probably because I had been working most of the night.
La Posa West resembles a Campground.
When we got up at 7:30 we were greeted by a beautiful Sunrise but as we sat having our Breakfast the Sun kept playing a game of Hide and Seek behind huge walls of Clouds. Not the best thing to charge our Batteries but then we could hear the wind rattling our Slide Toppers. We were again discussed adding a Wind Generator to our Arsenal of Toys to add to our comfort of being “Off the Grid”. Since we have left McGregor in November we have only had a few days with light winds and then we had lots of Sun. If we have little Sun especially after Sunset we normally have lots of Wind. Either way they would both charge our Batteries without the noise caused by a Motorized Generator.
La Posa North also resembles a Campground.
We managed to get some Computer reading done this morning even with the spotty connection we are experiencing. Due to the large number of people presently in Quartzsite using the Internet as well as their Cell Phones that being Online has become extremely “S-L—O---O----W”. We discussed also finding a way to boost our Signal Strength in an effort to make the time we do spend Online less of a chore.

Lots of Boon Dockers off Tyson Wells Road.

By 10:00 MST we were on our way up Highway 95 with clear blue skies into Quartzsite. With the Big Tent attracting lots of RVers we knew to expect traffic to be heavy. We got lucky because we only slowed down to a crawl but did managed to keep the wheels turning slowly until we reached Main Street. We’ve noticed other Bloggers who are out in the LTVAs having parcels and mail shipped to a small place called Quiet Times. Now that we know where it is we’ll make more inquiries so we can possibly have a few things delivered there.

Our next stop was the Ace Hardware Store in Blythe, California. When we were here the last time I had second guessed the size of fasteners I would need for our future Solar Panel additions. Today I got the last of the stainless Steel Fasteners along with the Electrical Box Plugs we needed and Kathy even scratched a few more 2017 Christmas Gifts off of her list.
Leaving there we drove over to Radio Shack where we spoke with Raphaël about our problem. He made several recommendations from the stock that they had. The Wilson System they had in-stock would require 120 Volts AC Power but they had a WE Boost that I’ve read are equivalent to the Wilson but it runs on 12 Volt DC Power. We have the perfect location to mount it and we won’t need an Inverter for it which helps to Save our Battery Power.
Since it was now after 12:00 MST we walked to the Kmart store where after freshening up we ordered lunch at the instore Little Caesars. Our medium Hawaiian Pizza was ready in less then ten minutes and was delicious. When we were finished eating we made a quick check for some small sized towels that Kathy was looking for. They had every colour you can imagine but not what we were looking for.

Our next stop was the Local Ford Dealer to get an Oil Change done. We had a 1:00 PST (2:00 MST) appointment. They were only slightly delayed but I laughed to myself as I watched through the Service Window. They didn’t have a hoist heavy enough to lift our truck so they could only lift the front wheels off the ground and then they had to do it the old fashion way, crawl underneath and work off the ground. When they were finished as we came out to leave the Sun was nowhere to be seen and the Sky was one big solid cloud.
Our next stop was Albertson where Kathy had a list of food she needed to restock our pantry with before going to Quartzsite where we went to Family Dollar to get a case of Bottled Water. The reason we didn’t get it at Albertson’s is that California had a ten cent Environmental Tax on any beverage container sold. Buying the water in Arizona saved us Two Dollars and Forty Cents which makes Sense to us.
We were Home by 5:00 and it didn’t take long to unload our goodies. For Supper this evening we kept it simple with a nice bowl of Soup. As I type this post we can hear the tapping of Rain on our roof. Hopefully we start seeing more Sunshine Tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. The internet is always slow at this time of year here, but soon will be good again . much better than a few years ago when you could not get on between 6 am and 9 pm. We also found was better closer to town as well.

  2. Rick, I love your idea of a swivel wheel turning into a utility trailer. Maybe a million dollar idea.

Scares me to think that Kathy can be thinking about Christmas already. I'm dreading Valentines Day. Can't even think as far as Christmas.
