Busy Traveling Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Amazingly we both had a more comfortable sleep than we’ve had in a long time but we were still happy to be awakened by the sunlight finding its way through the cracks of the bedroom drapes. It didn’t take too long to have breakfast and be out the door as we were on a mission.
American Customs at the Ambassador Bridge.
The mission was to cross the border and pick up our trailer from our RV dealers after having some service and a lot of warranty work done to fix the problems we were having with it. Crossing the border at the Ambassador Bridge leading into Detroit Michigan went fairly easy with the Immigrations Officer having more of a casual conversation about Snowbirding than worrying about what we were bringing into the country with us.
By 10:00 we were on I-75 headed to White Lake just outside of Pontiac Michigan. Once we arrived at the General RV dealership their staff which always welcomes us like we are long lost family were very concerned that we made the trip over while both of us are dealing with health issues. When we went over the bill for the additional services we were surprised at how little it cost compared to work we had done in Ontario on our older trailers.

While we were taking care of the paperwork the trailer was being brought up front. That is when there was a problem that happened when the operator of the tractor somehow damaged one of the forward landing jacks. Immediate attention went from the service manager to the location manager and they had all available hands on deck to make this right.
Since we were planning on going for lunch before coming home with the trailer Kathy and I went for lunch while the repair was being done. We had an enjoyable 3 course Turkey Dinner at Bob Evans for $9.99 each. We took our time but still had to waddle back to the truck due to the size of the portion that we couldn’t quite finish.
Somebody did an oops! Manager asked if this was Monday?
We were back at the dealership about 1:45 and not seeing any activity around the trailer thought it to be ready until I looked at it. They had totally replaced the landing gear leg with a new unit but someone forgot to pay attention which way the lock pin was facing on the other leg. Bill the manager asked if this was Monday but ten minutes later everything was the way it should have been and we were on our way home.
Forward Landing Gear good as new.

After filling up our diesel fuel at the Duty Free we cleared Canadian Customs in record time and had the trailer parked in the storage yard by 5:00 and headed to Wendy’s for a light supper. From there we headed out to our son’s in Amherstburg for our Wednesday night visit.
In Canada you fuel up first.
Now we are back home tired from a long day on the road and noting that Christmas is now only 40 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. So you actually let on at Canada Customs that you had work done? Or do they just figure you're coming back from "south"? Seems awfully easy.

  3. Sounds like the dealership was having a bad day with your trailer, hope everything else went well.
