Got the Truck Fixed Along With Lots Of Errands.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We both managed to sleep past 8:30 this morning. Not quite what we had planned but it happened. The reason for wanting to get an early start this morning was we had a list of places we needed to go to today. By the time we checked our E-Mail and other important messages it was nearly 10:00 by the time we were on the road each driving a different vehicle.

Our first destination this morning was Windsor Gas and Diesel to drop the truck off. Jim knows how we try to make certain when we head south we don’t have any problems with the truck. After explaining what happened this last week we left the truck for him to check out. Kathy and I trust Jim completely with our vehicles knowing he will not try to sell us anything that is not needed. I even called him from Quartzsite last winter and he advised me on the Thermostat Issue. How many Mechanics do you know that will do that?

Our next stop just down the road was VitalAire. Every six months we are entitled to CPAP Supplies by our Medical Service Provider. What has been happening is VitalAire has a package already made up for us when we arrive which normally includes new Hoses and Tanks for our machines. Those items take years to wear out so we now have a Stockpile. Today we specified what we would need and what we did not want to have with our orders. We also said we’d be picking it up in exactly Four Weeks.

We next drove over to Guardian Storage where we picked up our Mail. I’ve recently complained on our Blog that we feel the Postman is not always delivering all our mail in a timely fashion. On Sunday when we picked up all of last week’s Mail there was one piece of Junk Mail. Today when I opened our Mailbox it was stuffed full. It included Four Pieces of Mail that we have been waiting for since the middle of August.

It was nearly noon with still more errands to run so we stopped at Arby’s for our lunch. They have a lot of new sandwiches but we stuck to our favourites. Kathy had a Ruben while I had a Medium Roast Beef Cheddar Melt. We were both satisfied and not stuffed.

Thanks in part to the Mail delivery we needed to go to the Motor City Community Credit Union to do some banking which included getting more rolls of coins for doing the Laundry as well as signing some forms.

We then drove to Sears at the Devonshire Mall on Howard Avenue. Kathy’s Watchband had suddenly decided to break. The Watchmaker at Sears is one of the best in town and reasonably priced so within minutes Kathy had a new Twist-a-Flex Watchband on her watch.

Driving back to Walker Road we went to the Dollar Tree to replace some of the Mirror Words of Inspiration that are cracking and peeling off our Closet Door. We also found a Food Storage Container that we’ll need for the Ambrosia Salad we’ll be bringing to our Merry Thanksmas Celebration.

Driving across the parking lot we then went to Canadian Tire. Since our Truck uses Diesel Fuel I needed to pick up some Diesel Additive. This helps make the fuel Burn Cleaner, the Injectors last longer as well as preventing mold and moisture from forming in the tank. We also managed to find a Cargo Net that will help keep our Bicycle Cover stay intact on the rear of the trailer when going down the road.

Across the street we went to Zehrs Super Store where we picked up a few items we had missed the other day as well as ingredients needed to make the Ambrosia Salad for this weekend.

I forgot to mention that today the Humidex here once again reached 86 F (30 C) and our water bottles got empty rather fast so we stopped at McDonalds and each had a Cranberry/Pomegranate Fruit Smoothie. Not only did that help cool us down but helped to hydrate us as well. While just sitting there I called Jim to see if he’d checked the truck yet. His response was he was just finishing it as we were speaking.

Back at Windsor Gas and Diesel we found the truck with the hood up and idling in the yard. Phil had just finished resetting the computers. The problem with the Truck had been the Batteries. The Main Battery was not holding any charge at all and the Auxiliary Battery was starting to show that it would not totally charge. Those Batteries were just over Two Years Old so Jim called his supplier and had them replaced Under Warranty. He explained that most times it is the higher Cranking Power Batteries that fail and these were higher than the Stock Batteries had been. The replacements he installed are the same size as the Stock Batteries which should last much longer.

It was past 4:30 when we were heading towards Home but we made another stop. We stopped at Boston Pizza for supper. When we want a regular menu pizza we go to Little Caesars or grill one from our Freezer on our Weber ourselves. If we want a gourmet pizza we go to Boston Pizza. The Hostess was surprised when we insisted we didn’t need any menus. We ordered a Medium Tuscan Thin Crust Pizza and Soft Drinks. Twelve minutes later we were eating our supper. The advantage of a thin crust pizza is you are not stuffed from all the carbs a regular pizza has.
Kathy getting ready to head for Home.
We were Home after making Thirteen Stops today and had everything put away before the 6 o’clock Local News came on. The Weather Guessers say tomorrow will be another Hot and Wet Day before we start cooling down to seasonal temperatures. With only Four Weeks to our departure we have a lot to do with very little time. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

In the first place, God made idiots.

That was for practice.
