Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.
I thought that by setting the alarm clock yesterday morning for today I wouldn’t think about it overnight and have a sleep filled night. It almost worked with only an hour shortly after 2:30 that I lay awake but it wasn’t enough to cause me to sleep in as a fact I was awake ten minutes before the alarm was slated to go off.
Knowing I had the appointment and sensing that I was no longer in bed Kathy was up by the time I started getting breakfast ready. We discussed our plans for the day and even took the time to do some of our morning reading before leaving.
For the last five years the main highway between LaSalle and Windsor has over gone a major restructuring in preparation for the new Gordy Howe International Bridge between Canada and the United States. Even though we had crossed the area a few times while it was under construction we had yet to travel any part of these roads. On the way to my appointment the decision was made to check it out. As we traveled the route that we had become familiar with through all our years of raising our young families nothing looked as we remembered. Buildings that had once been landmarks in our memories were now replaced with overpasses and cross-overs. Kathy commented that it looked like we were traveling in a Foreign Country not what used to be known as our backyards. The changes to the roads also made it so that we were at our destination with plenty of time to spare.
With Kathy having a Weak Immune System she chose to walk around the Rexall Drugstore rather than coming into a doctor’s office where people are generally sneezing and coughing all so Kathy can get sick from those wayward germs. I had a 10:00 appointment with my family doctor who has treated me through many work related injuries and minor illnesses as well as taking care of my growing family for the last thirty years. When I complained about being out of shape from moving twice in one year he responded that with all my test results and vital signs he said I’d have plenty of time to work on it. He also said the Fulltiming seemed to be a healthy lifestyle and to keep it up.
We then drove over to Seguin’s Home Hardware on Felix where I managed to pick up some Stainless Steel Screws to replace the ones lost while taking the lights off of the Wind Deflector Frame yesterday.
We had started heading for Home when we found out that the battery on the camera had died. I also thought to stop in at Vehicle Venture to get pricing for the new Airbags for the truck. It appears that all the staff are new and they had just installed new computers yesterday so Andrew couldn’t look up the truck’s history. He took our information and will call us tomorrow with some prices.
Kathy had found a gift-card for Swiss Chalet and thought we should have lunch out. After getting parked we walked to the door and found out they didn’t open until 11:30 leaving us nearly twenty minutes to wait. We noticed other people going into another place in the strip mall called Quesada, Burritos and Tacos that served tacos, burritos, tortilla salads, nachos and quesadillas but no fries. While we made our selections people kept coming and going with everyone appearing contented with their food. We only ordered tacos and soft drinks but the taste was delicious and reasonably priced. They’ll definitely be giving Taco Bell a run for the border and we’ll be back.
We were leaving by noon but there was an issue. The driving rain that was coming down outside. Getting myself as close to the car walking under the canopy I made a dash to bring the car closer for Kathy. Even the drive Home most were only driving Sixty km in an Eighty km zone because of the intense rain. When we got back to the park our neighbours said they had only had a light drizzle.
After making a few phone calls and getting things cleaned up I had planned on completing the chore of painting the Wind Deflector Frame but each time I went outside it would start raining again. After the fourth attempt was hampered I got busy doing a few things inside the trailer and will wait until morning to finish that task.
