HOT, HOT, HOT.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario.

Just because I told myself that I needed to be up early before the heat of the day built up sure enough I was up early. It was every half hour all night long but I was able to be up before 7:00. Yesterday while on the balcony I noticed the outside filter was nearly plugged with pollen spores but I wasn’t about to shut it off during the warmest part of the day so I waited until this morning.

Surprisingly Kathy didn’t wake up like she normally does once I get out of bed. The first thing I did was shut the Air Conditioner off and went out onto the balcony with a whisk broom and had the outer filter cleaned in seconds. Back inside the cool air of the apartment I cleaned the inner filter which hardly had any dust on it before turning the AC back on. Next I changed into my coveralls and went outside to adjust the light-bars on the truck. Of course that involved laying under the truck and moving numerous times but I completed that and was back in the apartment in less than fifteen minutes. Kathy was just waking and was surprised that I was taking the coveralls off instead of going to work on the truck. She was even more surprised when I told her that I had finished all my morning chores. By 8:00 this morning our Humidex was already reading 95F (35C).

After our breakfast of Bagels and two coffees Kathy headed out to get a pedicure in hopes of having less problems with her toenails. Myself I started making phone calls to the local Tire Repair Shops to get the flat tire on the truck repaired. Once I found the shop I needed to go to I stopped to put air in the tire in hopes of saving it from further damage. Unfortunately the tire was beyond repair so we replaced it with the spare tire and put a used but safe tire as the spare. We’ll be replacing all the tires on the truck before winter this year so we just kept it on the cheap side for now.

Back at the apartment Kathy and I had lunch at 1:00 and discussed the tires for this fall. Kathy spent the rest of the afternoon doing bookkeeping while I was getting caught up on vehicle expenses that I have on a working spreadsheet.

Since neither of us had done much walking today we thought of going to the west end Walmart for some walking since the outdoor temperature felt like 108F (42C). Walking out of the apartment we were met by a light rain. By the time we were on the Expressway the blackened sky was pouring hard enough to slow traffic.

We walked around Walmart for nearly an hour and walked out empty handed and getting hungry. Having raided our coupon stash before leaving home we stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken where we both had a three piece chicken dinner for less than fifteen dollars. As we ate our supper we could see the sky to the north of our location starting to look threatening so we headed for home.

I dropped Kathy at the door so she wouldn’t be exposed to the warm air then I proceeded to park the truck. We should have gone back to Walmart because for the second time in a week our floor of the building was without power. For the next hour and a half we sat as comfortably as we could in an 84F (29C) apartment. It was a welcome relief when the power came back on.

Tomorrow we have absolutely nothing planned so we’ll just see what comes up. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
