Wishy-Washy Day

Our Location Today is Thermopolis, Wyoming, U.S.A.
Yesterday we had plans to head in to the town of Thermopolis for multiple reasons. So while Kathy, Vera and Bill got everything gathered for our day I headed off to post our blog.
The most reliable place in the park seems to be outside the park laundry room. There is an advantage that you have fresh air and dusty chairs to sit on and even a patio type coffee table to work on. You get to enjoy the ninety plus degree temps at 9:00 in the morning with high humidity. You also enjoy using about five minutes of your time for each picture that you decide to upload. Now why would anyone want to sit in an Air Conditioned trailer and miss all that?

Our trip into town brought us first to the Wishy-Washy Laundromat to finish the laundry from the other day. The park laundry equipment wasn’t all working besides being expensive the dryers didn’t dry the clothes. It didn’t take long for Kathy and Vera to have everything going in the washers.
I took a walk down the road looking for a restaurant that had been highly recommended to us. Instead I ran into another RVer that was travelling through the Bighorn Pass on Monday and just as he was passing us had a blowout on his trailer. Even though we had offered assistance he had said they were good and would manage. Reluctantly we then drove on only to be stopped by a heavy rain storm twenty minutes later. He said his kids help him out and they were back on the road in ten minutes just on time to be stopped by the same storm we were in.

After returning to the Laundromat Bill and I spotted a gentleman across the street polishing a large rock. Since the clothes had just been put in the dryers Bill and I crossed the road to see what was going on.
The rock he was polishing was 2,500 pounds of Jade. He had many large specimens of different rare minerals also in the front yard of a small shop called Ava’s Rare Rocks.
Inside the shop were even more rare and beautifully displayed rocks. We were in awe over them and collectors would probably be willing to pay more than the asking price for. Ava herself explained where much of the products came from and what their classifications were. It was like being back in High School Geology Class and suffering from overload from being given so much information. All beautiful to look at but not something practical for RV living.
By the time we returned to the Laundromat Kathy and Vera had finished packing the laundry and were ready to go for lunch. Our destination was a little Family Restaurant called Pumpernick’s. Being located on Main Street since 1979 it is well known for good food at reasonable prices and fast friendly service. We ordered their famous Buffalo Burgers. I personally have had buffalo burgers before but today’s was by far the best.
After leaving Pumpernick’s very satisfied from our meal we headed over to the State of Wyoming Bath House to check it out. We had brought our swimsuits with us but the water temperature was too hot for Kathy and Bill. There was also a twenty minute time limit for a two hour period.  We chose instead to walk around the park to see the mineral deposits and view the ponds and river runoff.
By 3:00 pm. we returned to the trailer it was 98 degrees outside and Kathy was still suffering from a sunburn she got on Thursday. We chose to stay in until after supper before heading back to the pool. An hour later lightening started flashing around so the pool was closed and we called it an early day.   It was a very relaxing and enjoyable day!
