On Our Way and A Four Meal Day.

Our Location today is Daleville, Indiana, U.S.A.

More out of necessity we set the alarm last night for 7:00 this morning to be certain we were out of the Park before 11:00 deadline. We both managed to fall asleep quite easily but we both kept waking wondering if we had done things that needed to be taken care of before we hit the road today. A Typical Pretravel Night’s Sleep where we’d finally fall back to sleep only to have some other question pop into our minds to wake us again.

I was already up when the alarm went off. While Kathy set about making toast for breakfast so we could use up the Rhubarb that she cooked up last night I started closing up our Computers. Instead of having our Coffee/Tea at our Computers this morning they were made in our Travel Mugs so we could have them on the go.

Once the Computers and CPAPs were all safely stored for travel I once again dressed against the Freezing Cold Temperatures to finish fastening things down for our travels. I managed to secure and cover our Fresh Water and Waste Barrels but when it came to putting the Cargo Net over everything I needed help. As if she had heard me calling in my mind Kathy came out to give me a hand. We were on our way out the Park Gate to start our Second Southwest Adventure by 10:20.

That light breakfast was long gone and we were both starting to feel lightheaded. (Not the best way to start a trip.) We decided to stop at a small local eatery called John’s Place. We had never been inside before because the outside didn’t look too appealing but there was plenty of room for us to park and our Son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa both said the food was great. You’ve heard to “Never judge a book by its cover” well the same held true for this Eatery. The inside was very clean with a very nice Décor, the Food and Service were great but best of all the Price was extremely reasonable.
Crossing the Ambassador Bridge.
We were across the Ambassador Bridge by 11:15 and after a quick look inside our trailer in case someone else was hiding inside we were on our way in less then five minutes. This U.S. Immigrations Officer was very polite unlike some of the others we have been faced with in the past. This is known to be the worst place to cross into the U.S. from Ontario
Beautiful Michigan Colours.
Our route took us across the state on I-94 where we made our first stop at the Meijer’s in Belleville, Michigan to pick up a few supplies. Kathy was careful that everything we purchased today did not require any cooking. Since it was nearly 2:00 we shared a Turkey and Cheese Sandwich from their Deli
Wild Turkeys across the road from the Marathon Station.
Since we had started the day with only a half a tank of Diesel we had planned on filling up at this location. Not being able to get into the local gas stations with our Trailer we headed up the road to the Marathon gas station in Grassland, Michigan. They advertised as selling Diesel but when we pulled in there was only gasoline at most of their pumps. Going around the building the very last Island had the Diesel Pump and it was perfectly lined up with the Exit
Even the Truck is getting a rest.
When we connected to I-69 we started heading south but stopped at the last Rest Area before we got to Indiana. Just being able to stretch our legs and not be bouncing down the road felt wonderful. It had been evident that we were in the fall season with all the colours in the trees.
Kathy enjoyed stretching her legs but found it chilly.
We had only been in the state of Indiana a short time when we started getting drizzle on our windows. On yesterday’s Local News the radar had shown a Storm Front moving north along the same line that we would be traveling southbound in.
The brightest the Sun got all day.
Checking her Next Exit Book Kathy determined Exit 234 was the perfect place for us to stop for the night. We pulled into the Pilot truck stop where I fueled the Truck so it will be good to go in the morning. After asking the attendant about spending the night we were told to park with the Trucks. (We’ve done it so many times that it’s second nature.)

To finish off our day we walked up to the Denny’s Restaurant where we had Supper. Having read George’s blog OurAwesome Travels the other day about the Crazy Spicy Skillet that he had that was my choice for my meal. Kathy had the Salmon Skillet and we both agreed that they were really Delicious and reasonably priced.

Since we aren’t breaking camp tomorrow or crossing the International Border we can slow down our travels a bit because we’ll be in warmer temperatures than we left back in McGregor. After traveling 297.1 Miles today we may even sleep in tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
