CCCCold Exploring Day.

Our Location today is Crystal River, Florida.

With the help of the furnace running last night we both slept comfortably unlike the night before when we both suffered from Pre-trip Sleeplessness. After cereal and another two cup coffee morning we made plans to explore the park we’re in.
Kathy didn’t quite think it was that cool since the thermometer showed it was 41F (5C) and the sun was out today so that was promising but when she open the trailer door she quickly closed it and put on her cold weather coat over her jacket. I saved myself the aggravation today and just put my winter jacket on before going out.
First we checked out a social room in our part of the park which had a pool table, a book exchange, some light duty exercise equipment and some couches and chairs for a small gathering. On the end of the building were also women’s and men’s washrooms with showers.
Office to Rousseau Lake RV and Fishing Resort.
Docking area in a small inlet.
Taking the path to the main section of the park we made our way around to the docking area where guest registered at the park could dock their boats. This seemed to be a small inlet or bay type area and the only ones that seemed not to be fazed by the high winds and cool temperatures seemed to be the ducks.
Notice the wind holding the Spanish Moss at an angle.
Walking a bit further we came to the combination dog park and fishing dock area. Since nobody was there with there pets we wandered through to the dock to check it out. The wind was actually causing small white caps on Lake Rousseau and making Kathy cold enough that she needed to pull up her hood. As we were leaving this area I tried to photograph a few flowers that were already showing their spring blooms but the gusty wind was making it difficult to focus on the subjects.
Boat launch.
Further along we circled to the rear of the main building to find the laundry room, washrooms and showers, then the main community center. There was another book exchange in the corner of this room and a kitchen on the opposite side for when the have get-togethers and meals. A door on the far side of the room led to the park store and office where Kathy had a chance to ask about the local stores and their locations from the park. The heated pool was directly next to the office but with the temps below 60F (15.5C) it was kept covered and closed for use.
Nice warm tomato soup for lunch.
Back at the trailer in time for lunch we needed to warm up because we were both frozen from the cold wind. Soup help with the chill but the heat from the furnace was the only way to really get warm. Throughout the afternoon the trailer was being rocked by the wind and hit by branches coming down from the surrounding trees. The high temp finally hit 52F (11C) but with the wind we just retreated back into the trailer and stayed for the rest of the afternoon.
We believed this is a new business sign.
Being cooped up from so early in the day we headed out for supper to a place called Barbecue Bill’s but when we got to the address found the name had been changed to The Loft Bar and Grill. The first thing that struck us when we walked in was cigarette smoke something we don’t have back in Ontario. The next was the typical loud music played in bars but the food we ordered top notch. What we ordered was called The Sloppy Pig which was basically a pulled pork sandwich and the only person we know that makes them any better is our Son-in-Law Greg. After that we were good to head back to the trailer for the rest of the night.
Kathy and I would like to welcome Sue Castle as our newest follower but unfortunately there is no blogging information to pass along in a shout out. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. We saw on the news where you were getting some cold weather. Once it warms up, you two will be able to enjoy that lovely park completely.

  2. The azaleas are so pretty! It looks like a really nice park. Is the doggie park nice? I know you don't have a dog, but I was just curious. Whenever someone mentions a "bark park" I ask...we travel with 4.

Sure do hope it warms up for you there!

  3. We are taking the cold with the warm weather now, getting ready for the climate when we get back to Ontario in April.

  4. Hi, thanks for the welcome. We are not yet full-timers, but take a couple month long trips each year "testing" places we'd like to go and spend more time at, once we reach that full-time goal. In the meantime I lurk on a lot of Full-Timer blogs for travel and location tips and information. I do have a blog but since we only take a couple trips a year, it's also my "Polymer Clay" (I'm a polymer clay artist) and Family blog. I'm way behind right now, as "life got in the way this past winter, but you're welcome to check in, if you'd like. Smiles, Sue and Verle C
