A Safe Place and Enjoyable Time Out.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

With less time spent in my Recliner and more time spent in Bed, things were looking good but there was still a problem. The Alarm was set for 8:00 this morning, so whether you were in Bed early or late, it was time to get up. Without her Hearing Aids in, Kathy seems to sleep right past that, but after I shut the White Noise of the tower fan and I start putting Glasses on the Glass Trivets and Mugs on the Petrified Trivets, she woke almost instantly.

The reason for this early morning was our daughter Karen, was picking Kathy up to go visiting. At the assigned time, we headed downstairs to find Karen ready to start their adventure.

I headed back upstairs with a few things in mind. First, I had misplaced something because I put it in a Safe Place, just like other people I know have done. That was a strike out but hopefully soon, it will be found.

For lunch, I had a small Veggie Wrap as a way of keeping my Calorie Intake down in hopes of losing some of this added weight.

Next, I called our Credit Card Company mentioning problems that I can’t monitor our account. With lots of verification of this and that, I was able to see what I wanted. After disconnecting I remembered something I forgot to check. After repeated attempts to Log-In, a message appeared saying “This Account does not exist.” It did a few minutes before. I have enough information to see me through the weekend.

Kathy and Karen arrived minutes after 2:00. Kathy was happy that they had driven out to Amherstburg to visit our son, Karen’s brother, Kevin and his son Cameron. They had a lot of fun according to Kathy. Karen left shortly after, but I was still hearing the same story from Kathy, for the rest of the evening. It is nice to see her happy.

Supper was Manwich on Bread and later a small dish of Vanilla Frozen Yogurt for a dessert.

With the new holiday of Truth and Reconciliation being honoured across the country, there was no Local News. So, we spent the evening listening to the History Channel.

Kathy is already in Bed and I am heading there soon. With heavy Rain forecasted for tomorrow, we are not sure what we will be doing.

On Track, Run For The Border and Savoury Supper.

Something went right last night when I clocked in exactly Two Hours in my Recliner, before finishing the night with Seven Hours in Bed. Though I overslept by Two Minutes, I still managed to get all my morning chores finished and some E-Reading completed before Kathy came out to join me for our breakfast snack.

With temperatures rising from cool to hot later this afternoon, we headed out to do our errands early. It was nice that we could get things done while children were in School and many adults were busy at Work.

Our first stop was Guardian Storage to collect our Mail. Strange, how much was there for only Two Days worth of deliveries considering that I have seen less after a Month.

We made a quick stop at Pioneer gas station because their sign showed a Nine Cent per Litre drop in price. When these prices are this high and they make that much of a drop, we’ll add it to our tank.

With less people out taking advantage of savings, we stopped at Taco Bell to take advantage of their Tuesday $2.00 Tacos. Still more than I recall years ago, but a big savings by today’s standards.

With only Ten Days remaining before my Shoulder Surgery, we needed to start rebuilding our Juice and Seven-Up stockpile. Kathy keeps saying that she would be able to handle the weight involved, because she used to do it. She tries but she is only able to move a fraction of what I do and right now that is waning.

We were about to go to the Grocery Store, when I came up with a thought. When I had that fall in the Bedroom at the beginning of the month, I fell on a Collapsible Crate, destroying it. If we are going to even temporarily restock, we will have to replace it, so off we went to Canadian Tire. We searched the area multiple times but could only find Light-Weight Crates half the size we had or one that was Fifty Percent Larger, that would be too large to fit where the other one had been.

We even we to Walmart, where we finished our daily requirement of walking, but did not find any Crates, before heading for home.

We still needed to use our Folding Two-Wheeled Shopping-Cart to bring everything upstairs. It was not because of the amount we had but because of the weight and the distance.

It has been cool enough the last few days, we could cool the Apartment by simply opening the Window and Door, but not today. We had to run the Air Conditioner for an Hour to make it comfortable.

We were watching the “6 o’clock Local News” when I finally served supper. We enjoyed Sauteed Carrot Spears, Mashed Potatoes and Salmon Fillets. Kathy could not finish her Salmon, but she was all for a scoop of Frozen Vanilla Yogurt for dessert later.

The Weather Guesser was contradicting last night’s forecast but still said we could see Rain by supper tomorrow afternoon.

Our daughter called to invite Kathy out for a drive tomorrow, so the Alarm is set.

We later watched a couple of Murder Mysteries. Kathy has gone to Bed and I hope to be there soon.

I know that I’ll be busy tomorrow.

Making The Best Of The Walk.

In an attempt to break my Restless Nights, I even resorted to taking an Extra Strength Tylenol before trying to sleep last night. After tossing in my Recliner like the night before, I chose to take less than a Teaspoon of ZzzQuil out of desperation, before going straight to Bed. Another Two Hours later, my Shoulder Pain was too much and I was back in my Recliner.

I’ve mentioned that if the Clock is showing 8:00 or later in the morning, I start my day. I started early today at 7:56 from my Recliner.

With only Eleven Days before my Shoulder Surgery, it cannot come fast enough. That was exactly the way I felt before my Hip Surgery. Like before, not many people look forward to Surgeries, but when Relief is expected as an afterthought, you do.

I had finished all my E-Reading, before waking Kathy. After our breakfast snack, I was able to investigate a few things of interest. I even managed to start making Salmon Sandwiches for lunch as a way of using food stocks before they go bad, with hopes of replacing them in the next week with fresh stocks. We even finished the last of the Cookies as dessert.

It was time to get moving and the outside temperature was perfect. The only bad thing was getting out of the building with Northerly Winds blowing. As soon as we were down on the Ganatchio Trail there was less of a breeze. Lucky for us, there are Benches spaced along the Trail for people with health issues. We headed west as a way of seeing something different. If we use the City Sidewalks, they have a slight sloped for winter runoff, which adds to any Pain you may have in your Feet, Legs, Hips or Shoulders. The Trail is completely flat so we can go further. We made a few stops to rest, have some water and get in a few puppy snuggles as they went by. We made it all the way to Lauzon Road, where Kathy suggested walking up to Riverside Drive. After being reminded of the Sidewalk Slopes and told of the extra Thousand Feet she’d be walking, we returned on the Trail where there were benches and shade from the Sun.

We had been gone for nearly Two Hours, some of that was spent sitting to rest. According to the Computer, we had walked nearly Two Miles. It has been sometime since we walked that far outside, but we are hoping it will help us to sleep better tonight.

While watching the “6 o’clock Local News” the Weather Guesser made an unwelcome change to our forecast. Though he said one thing, the Radar on my Computer shows something far different.

It was nearly 7:00 when we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Chicken Pizza for a late supper, watching a few different episodes on the History Channel.

We’ll make a Shopping List before heading out tomorrow.
