Getting Our New Car For Our Anniversary

After having trouble sleeping at night I simply took a Tylenol Night-Time before going to bed last night. The end result was that I slept all night but woke up feeling like a Drunken Sailor. A quick remedy to that was that hot cup of Coffee that we finished at our Computers.

We were out the door shortly after 10:30 with a short list of things we needed to do. The Car ran like a charm and we were soon arriving at a You-Do-It Car Wash that we had never been to with the plans to wash the Car before giving it to Tyler. Not having any change in my pocket, I was surprised by a sign on their machine that informed you before making the purchase that their machine only sold Tokens that only their machines would take. Probably to stop night time Vandalism of the machines. Not wanting to tie up our money on something like that we made our next stop at Guardian Storage to pick up what little Mail that we had.

Since we were now close enough we stopped at the Credit Union and picked up a roll of Loonies. By doing so would allow us to wash the Car and to use the rest for future Laundry.

Having had only a Muffin and Coffee for breakfast we decided to stop at Wendy’s where we ate off the Value Menu. We each had a Chicken Wrap, Small Chocolate Frosty and Seniors Beverage for $7.20 for the both of us. Satisfying but not overfilling.

We arrived at Rose City Ford just before noon where we had to wait a few minutes for our Salesman to finish with another customer. We didn’t mind the wait inside their Air-Conditioned Building because the Humidex was already up to 115 F (46 C) at that time. It took nearly an hour to sign all the paperwork and for him to show us all the changes to the Electronics on the Dash.
Our new city driver.
Heading towards Tecumseh we stopped at another You-Do-It Car Wash that accepted cash. I managed to thoroughly scrub down the Car, rinse it off and apply the spray on wax for only $6.00.

When we arrived at Karen’s we were surprised that Tyler was at his Summer Job and Greg was off work because of the Canada Day Weekend. With changes to the Licensing System in Ontario it takes nearly a year for New Drivers to be fully license so the Car will be put in Greg’s name until it can be transferred to Tyler.
Our old Car at its new home.
Since this was a used vehicle they only put a Quarter Tank of Gasoline so we stopped at the Pioneer gas station to top-off the tank. That will give us a better idea of our actual Fuel Mileage.

Our next stop was at Canadian Tire where we picked up a few things to personalize and protect our new investment.

Wanting to see how it performed we drove out to our son Kevin’s in Amherstburg. With the extreme heat Kevin was actually cooling down inside when we arrived but that didn’t stop him from coming outside to see our new vehicle. He was amazed how the manufactures pack everything into such tight spaces.

Later at Home Kathy made some Pulled Pork Sandwiches for supper with Blackberry covered Yogurt for dessert. We also watched a romantic comedy called Forces Of Nature. The perfect movie for us to watch on our Anniversary. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Follow-Up Appointment, Making My Own Appointments, High Humidex and Cleaning The Car.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Being as tired as I was when I went to bed last night it didn’t occur to me that I’d be having trouble to sleep. After only Two Hours of sleep I started tossing and turning not able to stop thinking. After taking and Extra-Strength Tylenol and still lying awake I added another and sat at the Computer until I was again feeling tired. Just like yesterday I still woke Ten Minutes before the Alarm was scheduled to go off.
An Egret that frequents the Water Hazards.
By 7:45 I’d taken care of Kathy’s Eyedrops and we were on our way to the Windsor Laser Eye Institute for Kathy’s Follow-Up Appointment. We were scheduled for 8:30 by the Nurses at the Hospital yesterday but the posted hours on the door showed they didn’t open until 9:00 on Fridays. We were the first in the door when it opened but we still had to wait inside for another Optimologist to come in. They verify that the Surgery went well, the Lens is in the proper location and there were no signs of Infection in the Eye. We still have to return in a week to have Both Eyes double checked.

With Kathy’s eyes both done we then made the appointment for me to get my Cataracts removed. Because the Doctor is planning a short Vacation in the month of August there will be Two Weeks between both of my Surgeries.
Our Front Garden is starting to Bloom.
Before leaving the building, we stopped at the small Bistro Type Café on the Main Floor. We each had a Breakfast Sandwich and Coffee that were made fresh for our enjoyment. The Fast Food Chains should take lessons.
Not sure what it is but it only Blooms every Two Years.
By 10:00 we were at the Zehrs Super Store on Walker Road to get some groceries. Kathy was feeling off balanced and realized that it was probably due to her Left Eye not being in focus just yet. We were about half way to McGregor when it was like a Bubble Popped and both her Eyes were perfectly focused. She was reading the small signs further up the road which is something she had never been able to do.

With the Humidex forecasted to reach 104 F (40 C) we settled in doing Inside Chores, reading at the Computers and since we were both tired, we caught a few Snaps. When it came time for supper I grilled a couple of Hotdogs on the Weber while Kathy made a couple of sides inside the Trailer.
Baked Beans and a Hotdog.
Since we’ll be picking up our Newer 2015 Escape tomorrow we needed to clean out and up the Car. It’s not being traded in but being given to our grandson. It’s not in perfect condition but with a little Elbow Grease and some minor repairs he’ll have a decent Car for years to come. By the time we got finished with that we were both wringing wet with sweat.

With tomorrow being our Anniversary what a great way to celebrate. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Second Eye Done, Impatient Patient and High Humidexes.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After setting the Alarm for 5:20 this morning not only did I have a restless night’s sleep but I was out of bed before the it went off. Kathy heard me moving around downstairs, so she was up before the Alarm went off as well. The only medication Kathy was allowed to take this morning were her Heart Meds with a bit of water along with her Eyedrops for her Right Eye. Since the Humidex was to exceed the Century Mark today we turned on the Air Conditioner as we were leaving.

We took the Truck today knowing it was nearly full of Fuel. We only had to stop for a Single Traffic Light so once again we were there ahead of time. I dropped Kathy at the door and by the time I’d parked the Truck and joined her she’d already signed in. When she was called in I was again given a Pager because I was going to get a Coffee and Donut as my breakfast.

I’d barely gotten back to the Waiting Room when the Pager started going off. Kathy was the First of Forty scheduled Cataract Surgeries for this morning and she was ready to go Home. The nurse indicated that everyone was being put completely out today so it would make it harder for Kathy to come out of it.

Taking our time bouncing over the terrible City Streets we still managed to be Home by 8:20 where Kathy just headed straight to bed. I settled in at the Computer but would periodically look in on our Patient. A big Thank You to all who wished Kathy a Speedy Recovery on this Surgery.

Kathy was up by 10:00 with an upset tummy. Being that she hadn’t eaten since last night and only had a Juice at the Hospital I gave her some Pudding to soothe the way she was feeling. She lay back down but was up for noon where we had Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch.

Later when she sat in her recliner Kathy complained that her Left Eye was not yet focusing like the Right One. I had to remind her that it was only Four Hours since the Surgery and it took over a Day for her Right Eye to focus without the blurriness.

For supper while I grilled a couple of Hotdogs on the Weber, Kathy insisted on putting together a Salad as a side. We’re going to bed early to make up some of the Sleep we lost but we also have the Alarm set again for her Follow-Up Appointment. Our area is forecasted to have an entire Week of High Humidexes meaning Kathy will have to stay inside while I get some Chores done. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Wet Day, On-Line Banking Finally Works and Another Birthday Celebration.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After using a Tylenol to guaranty a good night’s sleep I was sleeping so soundly that when the Alarm went off at 7:00 this morning Kathy wasn’t the only one that would have liked to sleep longer. All this so we won’t find it so hard getting up early on Thursday.

We hadn’t even finished eating another Lite Breakfast when the Rain started, slow at first then heavier, back and forth. This pattern would continue throughout the day into the evening. We made it a Two Cup morning while working on the Computers. We finally managed to get the New On-Line Banking Program that the Credit Union installed to finally work for us even though it took both of us to make it do so.
Our Street was like a small Stream this morning.

Since I knew that we would be getting Home later this evening and we both wanted to take Showers today I did mine after we finished lunch. Neither of us knew what to have for supper since we were heading out around 4:30 so we headed to McDonalds where we each had a Grilled Sweet Chili Wrap and a Strawberry/Mango/Pineapple Smoothie. Filling and fairly Healthy.

Kathy was having a problem before we arrived and was shocked to find she had removed her little emergency Vial from her purse so we made a quick stop at the Shoppers Drug Mart. While standing in line at the Checkout we could see Large Black Clouds heading directly towards the store. We barely closed the Car Doors when the Rain started coming down with Torrential Force.
Our wipers were on High.

Due to scheduling problems we headed over to our daughter-in-law Jen’s house in Essex. As we were parking the Car the Rain ended. Jen’s sister Melissa was already there but the rest of the gang were on their way. The reason everyone was gathering was to celebrate our youngest grandson Haigan’s 11th Birthday. His Birthday was actually yesterday but not everyone could make it then so it was changed to this evening. Soon Jack and Sue along with Dean and Austin arrived and the party began. He loved all the gifts that he received and showed his appreciation with lots of Hugs.
Haigan about to blow out his Candles.
It was past 9:00 when we arrived Home and the first thing I did before going inside was to check our Rain Gauge. We totaled 7/8” or nearly .9 of an Inch of Rain just since this morning.

With Surgery on her Left Eye scheduled for 7:00 in the morning Kathy is already in bed and I’ll be there shortly. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Supplies, Unbelievable Doctor’s Appointment and A Special Visit.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy slept like a rock once again without any kind of help but with our needing to get up early in the morning again on Thursday I wasn’t taking any chances about not being rested. By simply taking a Tylenol before going to bed I only woke once to turn over and the next time was ahead of the Alarm. We are using the Alarm to train ourselves so that we’ll get to bed earlier and the Early Hour on Thursday won’t affect us so bad.

When we got up this morning the Breeze blowing through the Windows was slightly cool but we survived. The afternoon Humidex would be above the 90 F (32 C) mark so we didn’t bother closing the Windows. After another Lite Breakfast we did Kathy’s Eyedrops before settling in on the Computers. With a number of things planned for this afternoon we had our Chores done and an early lunch before heading out the door.

Our first stop was Pharma Choice drugstore in Amherstburg to pick up a refill of Eyedrops for Kathy. With this being Construction-Season, we had plenty of Detours to get where we were going.

The next stop was Dollarama in Windsor a block from Kathy’s Family Doctor. Since her office closes from noon until 2:00 we had to kill some time. We picked up a couple of Notebooks for Kathy and a couple bottles of Orange Juice from the cooler before heading over to the Doctor’s Office.

This was just to review Kathy’s Blood Test she had done last month. While there the Doctor decided to check Kathy’s Vital Signs and could not believe Kathy’s Blood Pressure 120 over 70. That’s the best she’d ever seen it. Kathy’s secret was to just think about the Mountains around Quartzsite.

When I lost the set of Keys back in March there was a Key on that ring to the Debris Brush Hitch Lock on the back of the Truck. Our next stop was Princess Auto where they had the 5/8” Hitch Locks on Sale for 60% off. After dropping Kathy at the door as I parked the Truck I noticed an interesting Street Rod in the lot so I took a few pictures. While inside I realized we were late with Kathy’s next round of Eyedrops. After washing my hands inside, we did the Drops outside in the Truck in the Parking Lot.

Our next stop was to visit with our friend Kathie. Her daughter Christine and granddaughter Kingsley were over visiting. Kingsley is just over a Year Old and was running all over around Kathie’s apartment. After they left we took Kathie out to the nearby Michigan Diner for supper. With her limited income she doesn’t go out too often. Back at her apartment she asked me to see if I could modify a couple Garden Gates she was given to create a Corral effect on the Patio for when Kingsley comes to visit. That’ll happen on our Next Visit.

We stopped for Diesel at the Pioneer gas station on the way Home. It’s a good thing there was still a ¼ Tank of fuel in the Truck but with the increases prices it still cost $120.00 to fill up.

The rest of the Week is going to be busy along with lots of Rain with Humidexes above the Century Mark. The alarm is now set for an Hour earlier then today. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Sleeping In and Making A Deal.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

One of the Side-Effects of Sleep Apnea is occasional Insomnia which means that you spend most of the night when you are supposed to be sleeping awake and then you sleep later in the morning. Kathy is recovering from her Eye Surgery so she has a legitimate excuse but for me the Insomnia Side-Effect Three Nights in a row has become a frustration.

It was after 9:00 when we sat down for a lite breakfast this morning, only having a Muffin and a Coffee. Even that little time changed how I scheduled Kathy’s Eyedrops, meaning they all had to be later. We did our usual Computer Reading but then Kathy wandered to a different site. The next thing we knew we were making a Phone Call that had us scrambling for the door heading for Windsor.

We suddenly scheduled a few stops in order to keep our timing in tact but it was also past noon and our Lite Breakfast was long gone so we stopped at Wendy’s where we ordered off the Value Menu and both ate lunch for $7.19. We each had a Chicken Wrap, a small Chocolate Frosty and a Senior’s Soft Drink.

Our next stop was Guardian Storage to pick up our Mail. There was nothing there the other day but we hit the Jackpot today.

As you know we recently had problems with both our vehicles and there would be more repairs needed on the Car. Since it is a 2004 and low to the ground which makes it hard for us to get in and out Kathy has been secretly looking around On-Line even when we were down in Arizona. This morning she found a Low-Mileage 2015 Escape SE at a Reasonable Price at Rose City Ford. We did some bargaining and while the Salesman was running our offer by his Boss, I was putting Kathy’s Eyedrops in that I had brought with me.  By 2:00 this afternoon we were approved to pick it up on Saturday which already holds a special meaning, it’ll be our Anniversary.

We stopped at the East-End Canadian Tire Store where I had our Empty Propane Tank refilled. Then we drove to Karen’s house in Tecumseh where we planned on speaking to Greg but visited with Sanford instead. We were just about to head for Home when Greg called my Cell Phone. He said that he’d talk to Karen tonight and get back to us.

Back Home at Wildwood Golf and RV Park we were really starting to feel hungry and Lightheaded so while I got the Weber warming up Kathy pulled the Store-Bought Chicken Marasigan Pizza out of the Freezer. By using a Pizza Stone and leaving the Weber on High it was ready to serve in Twenty Minutes. It was Delicious and just the right size for the Two of us.

I collected the Garbage and we walked over to the Trash and Recycle Area giving us a little exercise. We watched another Walmart Movie this evening which kept us entertained. Tomorrow we have more errands to take care of. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Unexpected Rain, Birthday Celebration and Neighbour’s Campfire.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Having closed the Slider Windows last night just in case that it might Rain. It didn’t take very long to have them all open this morning to let the breeze help offset the increasing temperatures. We did our usual chores along with Kathy’s Eyedrops to aid her Eye’s healing process. She was even able to start walking around inside the Trailer without wearing her Sunglasses. Since the Surgery she has really noticed just how bright things actually are. The only thing that she finds bothersome about the entire process is all the Eyedrops that we are constantly putting in her eyes.
Green Float is actually above the 1/2" mark.
Shortly after lunch the Clouds started filling the Sky but according to the forecast we weren’t supposed to get any Rain today. I was about to go outside to grill a couple of Hotdogs around 5:00 when the Rain started coming down hard so we simply heated them in the Frying Pan. We barely finished cooking them when the Rain stopped. Checking our Rain Gauge, it showed that we had received a Half Inch of Rain in Half an Hour.

As we were leaving our neighbour Carol waved us over to ask Kathy how she was feeling her after her Surgery. She had brought a friend to the Hospital for the same procedure, on the same day but later in the morning and he was saying the same thing as Kathy’s been saying. Unbelievable Clarity!

We arrived at our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house in Amherstburg shortly before 6:30 to celebrate our grandson Matthew’s 16th Birthday. Melissa had set up some snacks for everyone to enjoy even though we’d eaten supper before heading over. Matthew appreciated all the Gifts that he received. We all sat outside in the garage where it was more then comfortable just by running a single fan.
Matthew enjoying his Gifts and Cake.
Kevin has really made progress on his Street Rod since the last time we saw it. Having finished the Body, he is now working on the Chassis. This is the point where he has to fine tune all the brackets before finishing the welding.

It was 9:30 when we got back Home but our neighbours Kevin and Lorrie called over for us to join them at their Campfire. We figured a few minutes wouldn’t hurt so we went over. Bill and Liz were also there so when Kathy explained about having Eye Surgery they all had questions to ask. They also asked more about our travels out west. It was past 10:30 when we finally headed Home to do the last of Kathy’s Eyedrops for the night.

Tomorrow besides continuing with the Post-Operation Eyedrops on Kathy’s Right Eye we also start the Pre-Op Eyedrops in her Left Eye. That’s going to be fun keeping track of all that. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Better Day By Day and A Quick Errand.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Click on the pictures to Enlarge.

We were up shortly after 8:00 and even though we knew that it was morning looking outside at the Dark Clouds we probably could have debated that. There was hardly any kind of breeze even with all the windows open.

We spent most of the morning doing what we could to make certain we had everything all caught up. Kathy has become Overwhelmed by just how much clearer her vision seems to be improving each day since the Cataract Surgery. She says it’s like a veil has been lifted before her eyes. Just that alone has made her realize just how bad her vision actually was.

With Rain forecasted for this afternoon the Skies opened up by 11:00 this morning. I would later check the Rain Gauge to find another Half an Inch had fallen this morning.
It brigtened up after this morning's Rain.
After lunch and the second round of Eye Drops we headed back to Amherstburg to visit the No Frills grocery store. It may sound like we are stockpiling food to those of you who are not familiar with RV Refrigerators but we are not. RV Refrigerators are not as large as the medium sized Household Fridge and with Kathy scheduled for her second Eye Surgery later this week we needed to stock up. The advantage to shopping at this chain is their everyday low prices and we still collect PC Points that we can use on future purchases.

Back Home for supper while I was outside grilling some precooked Spareribs, Kathy was inside sautéing Asparagus for our side. Just sitting under the Gazebo in the Shade with a lite Breeze passing through felt comfortably cooler. After finishing our meal, we sat outside while Water Heater warmed the water so we could do the Dishes.

For entertainment we watched another movie that we picked up at Walmart in Parker Arizona. This seemed like it was a mini series but it was still entertaining. Starting tomorrow this week will become very busy between Birthdays and Doctor’s Appointments. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Out, Vision Improving More and Another Movie.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With the forecast for Rain for most of the day we didn’t have much planned but we didn’t expect to get a late start to the day. When I saw the numbers on the clock that it was after 8:30 I practically jumped out of bed. Kathy was sleeping so soundly that she didn’t even flitch but the second that she heard the switch on the Electric Water Kettle snap off she was wide awake.

As soon as breakfast was over we started with Kathy’s Eye Drops. She couldn’t believe that she still has Another Month of these and she’s getting the Left Eye done this coming Thursday.

Looking outside there were a few Golfers out probably thinking they would beat the Rain but the Wind was giving them the what for probably adding way more strokes then they wanted. It wasn’t just the Golfers that were getting buffeted by the wind. It was coming in from the east which meant it was hitting the front of our Trailer on the Curbside hard enough that it was shaking the Trailer.

We had Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for lunch and top it off with more Bing Cherries for desert. We waited until the second round of Eye Drops were finished before heading out the door. Kathy can’t believe how closed in she is feeling just by staying inside to avoid blowing dust in her Eye.

We were looking for special Cases for our Sunglasses because they just don’t fit in the regular style. Our first stop was Dollarama in Amherstburg where we found a few other things we had on our List but no Glass Cases. Our next stop was Dollar Tree where we were about to walk out emptyhanded when Kathy spotted a rack that we had missed. Now that we have the type of Cases we wanted, our Sunglasses should remain Scratch-Free a lot longer. (Notice we did our shopping at the Big-Name Stores.)

We were about to head for Home when Kathy suggested an Ice Cream Cone at McDonalds. The Wind still blowing as we were about to walk in and after looking at the Time I suggested we have supper instead. We both had a Sweet Chili Wrap while Kathy had a Smoothie to drink, I had a Coffee. We were back Home before Kathy realized that we didn’t have our Ice Cream Cones.

We waited until after Kathy’s third round of Eye Drops before sharing some Popcorn while watching another movie from Walmart in Parker Arizona. This was a remake of “The Mechanic”. It was much more graphic then the original as well as a slight twist to the story line. It kept our interest so we both gave it Two Thumbs Up.

Kathy’s visibility in her Right Eye is continuing to improve to the point that she can’t wait to get the Left one done because now she really notices just how bad her Eye Sight really was. The Wind slowed down and we still haven’t gotten any Rain. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Cleaning Up, Seeing Clearly and Kathy’s Computer’s Back.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

It felt wonderful sleeping with the Windows open last night. All the Fresh Air helped the both of us to sleep like a couple of rocks. Looking out the Windows as we had breakfast at 8:00 this morning there were only a few Golfers out on the course. Just as I started checking The Weather Network the Wind started blowing hard enough that the Slide Toppers sounded like drums.

We spent most of the morning doing minor chores along with checking our E-Mail. With Kathy’s limited vision that was a chore in itself but with her Computer in the Shop for a tune-up that meant she was using my Laptop as well.

I had gathered and treated the Laundry then made lunch all while Kathy was using my Computer. Lunch was Soup and some Bing Cherries for dessert. Before heading off I administered Kathy’s Eye Drops again.

As the afternoon progressed it seemed that the Wind was increasing so it was quite comfortable in the Laundry Room. Once everything was washed and most of the Clothes in the Dryers I walked back to hang the Delicates in the Shower to dry. That’s when I heard a big “Wahoo” coming from Kathy. One of the concerns she’d had yesterday at the Follow Up Visit was that her vision still wasn’t clear. The answer was “It’s different for everybody but it would clear up”. She had just taken a Snap but was awaken when I waked in the Door. When she opened her eyes, something was strange so she covered the Left Eye and could read the Half Inch High Display off of our EMS that was Fifteen Feet away. Her vision in her Right Eye had suddenly cleared.

It was shortly after 4:00 when I returned with the Folded Clothes. It was also around then that the Shop called to say Kathy’s Computer was ready for pick up. We were soon on our way to SX Video in Essex to pick it up. Kathy noticed that she didn’t have as much problem with Motion Sickness as she’s had in the past. More then likely it was her Eyes that were causing that problem all along.

We were Home by 6:00 and the Wind had picked up so much, that we had to close the Windows because it was getting Cold. We did just start “Summer” today didn’t we? Not sure what we’ll be up to tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
