Driving Dream and Echo Gram.

I was certain that I would be able to get to bed early last night, but that did not happen. Kathy had already gone to Bed before I finished writing the Blog, so all the lights in the room were turned off. As I continued making the composition, Kathy came out wanting to tell me that, she had driven to her Late Mother’s Trailer the other day without telling me. Since that would be near Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, a round trip would take close to Sixteen Hours of non-stop driving. I knew she had to be dreaming but she was convinced that it happened. Soon after repeating this to me twice more, she finally returned to Bed.

Twenty-Five Minutes later, the Blog was published and I was tipped back in my Recliner. I was not even asleep when Kathy started making noise in the Bedroom. Being that I have learned to sleep with One Eye Open, there was Kathy shaking my foot, wondering when I was going to Bed. The CPAP Display showed that I had only been connected for Seven Minutes.

I’ve mentioned before that when I have a bad night’s sleep, Kathy has a bad night’s sleep, last night was my turn. Once in Bed, Kathy immediately grabbed my Hand, but kept moving this way then that way, all while holding my Hand. I actually got a few minutes sleep whenever she lost her grip but was awakened when she again found my new position.

I finally woke around 8:00, having been connected to the New CPAP Machine for only Seven and a Quarter Hours. I barely had our breakfast snack ready, when Kathy came out to join me. As we ate, I asked her about last night. She did not remember any of that, she said she must have been dreaming. I miscalculated my time on the Computer, printing up Kathy’s latest Medication/Vitamin List, so before we knew it, we were hightailing it out the door.

Kathy had an appointment at the Windsor Heart Clinic and we arrived with only Five Minutes to spare. After registering, there was a Ten Minute wait before being called in. Today, she would be given an Echo-Gram, then be fitted with a Heart Monitor that she will need to wear for Seventy-Two Hours. The have come a long way and are no longer the big clunky anchors worn around your neck. They are also Waterproof which is good, because as soon as Kathy gets nervous, she sweats like crazy. In Two Weeks, she will consult with the Cardiologist.

Since our breakfast snack was long gone, we stopped at Popeye’s, to have a late lunch at 2:30. We were going to have a full sized sandwich, but when I pointed at their $4.00 Menu Board, that is what we got. Being that hungry, it was more than enough.

Kathy insisted on walking from where the Car is parked at our building to the front entrance, because it appeared there was a Moving Van at the rear of the building. The moment we walked into the Apartment, we could feel the difference that leaving the Air Conditioner on while we were away had made. Outside, only felt like 97 F (36 C).

We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for super, while watching the “6 o’clock Local News”.

We later watched a “Murder Mystery” for some entertainment.

I’ve got appointments for the next Two Days, so hopefully I can get some decent sleep.

Damage From Severe Storms.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Since the Medications prescribed by the Windsor Pain Care Clinic might restrict my ability to Donate Blood, I used their Questionnaire’s own questions to determine how many Days before donating, I would have to stop. After making that Donation, I would then continue taking them until just before my next Donation. It was not a problem to sleep, it was keeping myself from tossing and turning the entire night. I think another reason was knowing the Alarm was set.

Another thing that tends to happen when we set the Alarm, is I wake up just before it goes off. That gives me the opportunity to shut it off, so Kathy is not startled awake by the sound, which would give her a Headache for the rest of the day. On the other hand, she does not like having to wake up early and lets me know it.

After our breakfast snack along with our morning Medications, a quick look at The Weather Network and Radar was all we had time for. It was not all good and all we could hope for was the Storm’s Path might change.

We were scheduled to see our Family Doctor. After last week's Holiday and Storms, he was really busy. Kathy’s biggest complaint is she feels tired most of the day. George noticed one of her Medications could be the cause and since she will be seeing her Cardiologist that prescribed it soon, he suggested she bring it up with him. After talking of how I feel, I will be getting more Tests to look forward to. And I thought I was in better shape than Kathy.

With my List in hand, we stopped at the Zehr’s grocery store where I was able to take advantage of some Sale Prices that were not listed last week.

The timing was perfect as we went to Wendy’s to have lunch. The young lady that took my order correctly for the first time last week remembered it for today. While we sat talking and enjoying our meal, we noticed that it seemed to be getting Dark outside.

Light Sprinkles were hitting the windows as we headed for home. After dropping Kathy at the front entrance, I carried the bag of groceries, without using our Folding Shopping Cart. As soon as I was inside, I needed to stop to switch arms carrying the load. Inside the Apartment, I put it on the Scale to find that it weighed almost Forty Pounds. After putting everything away, both my Shoulders were bothering me. Hopefully, I won’t have any problems sleeping tonight.

The “6 o’clock Local News” showed there was a lot of Storm Damage throughout the Windsor Essex County Area from the Strong Winds and Intense Rain that flooded lots of basements.

A short while after, our daughter Karen called to say that their basement had again Flooded, just like Ten Years ago. They had Back Flow Protection Valves installed, Two Sump Pumps along with a Battery Backup System, but the Pumps could not keep up to the Water coming in. All their Appliances and Furniture, Dry-Walling and Carpets will have to be replaced.

The first time Kathy and I were just going over for a visit but the entire Street had Two Feet of Water covering it. When we got back to the Golf and RV Park, lots of the roads and fairways were flooded because of the Water Hazards breaching their banks.

We later watched a few episodes about WWII being narrated by Tom Hanks on the History Channel.

Kathy has another appointment tomorrow.

Damage From Severe Storms.

Three nights in a row, will definitely not have me complaining, especially when I am not taking anything to help me sleep. I tipped back in my Recliner, then opened my Eyes thinking I might need help to sleep only to see the clock had moved by Sixty-Eight Minutes. I headed straight to Bed, I did not take any Medications nor did I pass Go. I was barely in Bed when Kathy rolled over and immediately reached for my Hand. The next time I looked at the Clock, it was past 8:30, so it was time to start my day.

Strangely, for the Third Day in a row, nothing had been taken to help me sleep, yet for the first Hour I felt drowsy, as if I may have overindulged. I had already warmed up the Kettle, so the moment Kathy joined me, it took only minutes to be serving breakfast.

Looking outside through the Balcony Door, the weather did not look too promising. We’d had overnight Rain, but I immediately checked out the Local Radar. It was hard to believe that there were multiple Severe Cells heading our way. When I told Kathy to hang on to her hat, that in Two Minutes it would hit, she did not believe me. She nearly jumped out of her chair when Lightning flashed across the sky. The Rain finally cleared out by 3:30 this afternoon, only to return around 10:00 this evening. It looked like the storm was making a U-Turn. I know what that normally means but I did not want to scare Kathy and just told her the Radar was faulty.

Knowing that our morning snacks have not been holding Kathy over lately, I started grilling some Cubed Chicken to add to a Homemade Salad. That was when I noticed some of the ingredients I needed were missing. In the process of changing things around, I forgot to add the Feta Cheese as the finishing touch. Kathy still loved it and said she was not Stuffed like she sometime feels.

Looking down Betty Street right behind our building, Three Services were there cleaning up a Large Branch that had fallen on the Car and House from this morning’s Storm. Looking down from our bird's-eye-view, there was an even Bigger Branch, from the same tree, that reached the far side of the road. If it had fallen at that exact moment, it would have destroyed the Tree Services Truck.

For supper we enjoyed Honey Garlic Spareribs, with Sauteed Zucchini and Potato Slices. For dessert, I topped it off with a Homemade Banana Splits, using some of the Strawberries and Pineapple that I sliced up yesterday.

We later watched a “Murder Mystery” for entertainment. With a Morning Appointment, we called it an early night.

Another Wonderful Night and Happy 250th Celebration.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even though I thought that I had a good night’s sleep on Thursday, last night was even better. The best part was that I didn’t need any help to get there. With a bit of time tipped back in my Recliner, like the night before I again staggered to Bed, only waking once when Kathy went to the Bathroom. After that, it was clear sailing until it was time to start my day.

I got things ready to serve breakfast, before turning on my Computer. The sky was full of Clouds making me think that it was not going to be s good day outside. Just then, Kathy joined me, so we were both able to check The Weather Network. After yesterday’s quick Rainstorm, things cooled down. Today would warm up but not like last week.

After our breakfast snack and Coffees at the Computers, I had a chore to do. Like so many others, we had food in the Fridge that needed to be used before it spoiled. For lunch, we had Grilled Tomato and Cheese Sandwiches. We had a couple of Cookies for dessert.

When I head back to the Kitchen the first thing I needed to do, was to clean up the Strawberries. We had already lost Two, but the rest will be a treat for a few meals. Kathy was back cleaning those little hidden corners she sometimes misses. Not Today!

The Cookies were already gone so I cut up a couple of Nectarines to enjoy.

Now I needed to slice up a Pineapple we got the same day as the Strawberries. I did it slightly differently and was surprised how much less waste there was. I was also surprised how nice the inside texture was. There was so much more, that there no way to seal the lid on, so I filled a couple of small dishes to be used for dessert.

I didn’t realize what time it was, so had to rush trying something new for supper. I have been making plain Veggie Wraps, sometimes with Bacon, sometimes with Chicken. Today I tried slicing and dicing Both. Luckily, we still had Leftover Stir-Fry from this past week. Our Wraps tasted great and Kathy only handed me the last Two Bites worth of her Wrap. Dessert was the small dishes of Pineapple.

I cooked both meats in their own Frying Pans, but I think next time, I will finish them in the same Pan. I have said many times, this is new to me and the only way I’ll learn is to keep trying. I will never be a Chef, but we’ll get by.

We later saw some splashes of Sunshine but never went out. We also watched a “Murder Mystery”. While Kathy was getting ready for Bed, I went to the Bathroom, where I could hear the distant sound of Independence Day Fireworks coming through our exhaust vent. We live that close to the Detroit River and hear lots of big events.

To all our American Family, Friends and Followers. We hope you had a great day celebrating your Country’s 250th Birthday.

We’ll be busier tomorrow.

Wonderful Night, Drenching Heat and Thunderstorm.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

I’m hoping that this doesn’t become a repeating routine, where one night is good and the next bad. After Two bad nights, I had a good one, then repeat one really Bad. That left me totally washed out so I wasn’t taking any chances last night. I added a single Capsule of ZzzQuil, a sleep aide and an Extra Strength Tylenol to my nighttime Medications before tipping back in my Recliner. When I opened my eyes, it was 4:00 in the morning. I stumbled my way to Bed, waking up minutes before Kathy after 9:00. I needed that!

We settled for our typical breakfast snack at the table, before taking our Coffees to our Computers. We were just getting ready to run a few errands when my Cell Phone started ringing, but as I tried answering, it disconnected. I was a little concerned when it showed our daughter Rose’s name and number, so I naturally called back in case it was an Emergency. When I said that I was calling her back, she started laughing. Our Four-Year-Old Granddaughter was playing with her mother’s phone and saw the word Dad next to my number and for a Four-Year-Old, Dad only means her Dad. We both had a laugh and even Maryam apologized for calling. I told Rose to change that to Granddad’s number.

With the temperatures supposed to be almost as bad as the last Two Days, we were headed out to beat the warmer temperatures. Kathy waited while I brought the Car close to the door and still felt the Heat after walking only Fifteen Feet.

Our first stop was Wendy’s to get lunch. Being able to use Coupons helps us to afford this. With their Air Conditioning fixed after failing the other day, Families, Couples and Individuals filled the Diningroom while there was a constant flow of traffic using the Drive-Thru. They must have been busy earlier, because lots of Chairs were pulled away from the tables. While Kathy used the washroom and the staff were busy taking care of filling other customers orders, I went around pushing them all back in place.

Stopping for our Mail at Guardian Storage, paid off big time today.

Our last stop was the Zehr’s grocery store. It was amazing how many things we finished off in the Fridge since Tuesday. Of course, everything we were needing today, was not “On Sale”. One thing I am happy that I did, was to use Two Insulated Bags thick on the Frozen Foods we did get. By the time they were put in our Freezer, they were starting to get soft.

After dropping Kathy at the front entrance to our building, I used our Folding Two-Wheeled Shopping-Cart to bring everything up to the Apartment. It was a lite load, but it would have been too much for my Shoulder.

Thankfully, we had left the Air Conditioner on while we were away, so after being exposed to 95 F (35 C) temperatures that felt like 113 F (45 C), it felt soothing. Once everything was put away, I loaded the Shopping Cart with our Recycle Containers and Insulated Shopping Bags. I walk by other tenants that were looking out through the doors but were too scared to go outside. After emptying our Recycle Containers in the Outside Bins, I returned the Shopping Cart and Shopping Bags to the back of the Car. Carrying only our empty Recycle Containers when I went back inside, everyone was amazed that I was not dripping with sweat like a few of them were.

We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza while watching the “6 o’clock Local News”. while the Weather Guesser was telling us there was the possibility of a Thunderstorm in our area, I noticed the Black Clouds starting to fill the sky, through the Balcony Door. Five Minutes later, the Horizontal Rain was so intense, we could not see the parking lot below. Ten Minutes later things were drying and the Clouds breaking up as the outside temperature had dropped to 70 F (21 C).

We later watched a few episodes of “Law and Order, Special Victims Unit”.

Not certain what we’ll be doing tomorrow, but hopefully it won’t be sitting inside.
