Choking and The Heimlich Maneuver.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even though I spent most of the night hooked up to my CPAP Machines, I did not experience an uninterrupted sleep. The Southwest Wind that started shortly after the Sun set, might have had something to do with it. I even tried rolling over, covering my head with the Bedcover to try to get the rest that I needed. Finally, I started my day just before 8:00 and quietly started getting things ready for our breakfast. By 8:15, Kathy came out to join me.

Figuring that our day would not be too busy, breakfast was simply a Pastry, before taking our Coffees to our Computers, where we started our normal reading. The Wind finally changed to the West, which cut the noise down entirely, because it was hitting the solid wall to our Apartment.

When it was time for lunch, we enjoyed a Homemade Italian Salad, again as a way of keeping our Calorie Intake down.

Both Kathy and I needed some special attention on our Feet, so we both enjoyed an Epson Salts Foot Bath. I was also able to give Kathy a Pedicure. The Toenail that the Podiatrist was allowing to curl into the Toe, is finally growing straight after my continually working it for the last Six Years. Since my Hip Surgery plus Weight Gain, I cannot trim my own Toenails and Kathy’s Dementia stops her from understanding what I am asking her to do. I will probably have to see the Podiatrist that caused her years of suffering.

Instead of going out to a Restaurant, we enjoyed Sauteed Asparagus, Potato Slices and Salmon Fillets for supper, with a slice of Cherry Pie Ala Mode for dessert and Fake Wine for our beverages. I have mentioned before what some of the problems that someone who has Sleep Apnea may face. One is Choking on something as slight as your own Saliva or Food. Kathy was Choking on her Food at supper and I again was able to save the day by using the Heimlich Maneuver. I can only pray that I will be there to help her out in the future.

Since this is Good Friday, the Canadian Government considers it a Holiday, which means there was no “Local News” for us to watch, so we watched a couple episodes of “Law and Order, Special Victims Unit”.

We will be busy tomorrow.

Change Of Weather and Shopping.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even though it was another back-and-forth night, my Bedtime won the race by over an Hour. When the room seem to brighten up this morning, it was time to start a new day. A quick look outside showed dry pavement into the neighbourhood behind our building and all the adjoining parking lots. In less than Thirty Minutes when Kathy joined me, all that had changed.

After our breakfast snack, we took our Coffees over to the Computers where we both got caught up on a number of things. Looking at the Radar was my first choice. After finding out that things in our area would be clearing shortly after 1:00, I noticed Streamers of weather coming and going all around us. That was when my curiosity kicked in and the Map was expanded to a global view. It seems that whatever storms the West Coast has, it crosses the Continent, then the Atlantic, hits whatever other Continent it wants, before crossing the Pacific to start the cycle all over again.

It’s actually hard to understand so when the forecasts are not quite accurate, I can see why. A longtime Meteorologist once said, “Years ago it was easier to forecast the weather than today”. He also said, “That it was easy to make a forecast for a week but now, more than Three Days is impossible, even with all the research that continues to be done”.

Since things were looking a bit scarce in the Pantry, Fridge and Freezer, we headed out the door by 1:00 with our first stop being Wendy’s for lunch. It is the most reasonably priced and satisfying place to eat when you don’t feel like cooking.

From there we headed to Shoppers Drug Mart at the Tecumseh Mall, over to Dollarama, then next door to the Zehr’s grocery store. Three Hours and lots of $$$ later we swung by the Health First Pharmacy to pick up all the Prescribed Medications that I called in for renewal yesterday.

Our Two Wheeled Folding Shopping Cart did most of the work, but we both were carrying bags to get all our purchases up to our Apartment. Again we had to open the Balcony Door to cool things down, while we got everything put away.

Back at the Computers, the first thing that I had to work on, was to update our Medication Spreadsheet. It is now ready for me to change the numbers again on the weekend.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local News” explained that due to changes in the Jet-Stream, we would not be reaching today’s forecasted high, until closer to Midnight.

Once the News was over, we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Hawaiian Pizza with the leftover Pineapple from the Fridge.

We watched “Law and Order, Special Victims Unit” and “The Pitt” this evening. Both nail biters.

Kathy is already in Bed and I am hoping to get this posted, before my Computer acts up again.

Still Tired, Long Freight, Amazon Delivery and No Argument.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Our sleep experience for last night was reflective in the way we both felt throughout our day. Not being able to stay asleep, I simply started my day early. Sensing my absence in the Bedroom, Kathy soon joined me in the Livingroom. Sitting in our Recliners at our Computers we were nearly doing what we should have done through the night, sleep. The only thing we could do was to take our Medications and have our breakfast snack, then bring our Coffees to our Computers. That seemed to work.

It was nearly noon when I realized that I had yet to call the Pharmacy, to order the Medications needed to fill our Doucettes this weekend. For the life of me, most of them I cannot pronounce their names, but as soon as I gave the last issued Rx Number, Lana was calling them out the way I wanted to do. While I was doing that, I also noticed there were Three Medications that I now have to take. Last month I had to make an adjustment to our Medication Spreadsheet, because I was doing Kathy’s meds, while forgetting my own. A quick glance showed that we’ll need a Shopping Bag to bring them all home.

Lunch was another snack before we headed out the door. With 37 F (3 C) temperatures we dressed warmer than the last Two Days, but it was not enough. The Northeasterly Wind felt like it was cutting through us as we walked out to the Car.

Our first stop was Guardian Storage to get our Mail. With it being nearly Rush-Hour, we headed across on Riverside Drive, before heading south on Jefferson Avenue. Just before we got to Tecumseh Road, traffic came to a dead stop. There was a Long Slow Moving Freight Train that had everything jammed up. We finally got moving Twenty Minutes later.

Besides our Mail, there was also the Supplements that I ordered for Kathy. Candace told me, she found the Package leaned against the Storage Yard Fence. It was not delivered to the Office. I will have to call Amazon to compliment them on the Stupidity of their delivery personal.

We stopped at Taco Bell for supper and there was a steady stream of customers coming in and cars going using the Drive-Thru.

Looking towards the Grocery Store, the parking lot was full and traffic was backed up to the road. Change of Plans, we headed for home and will come back early tomorrow.

With the Wind still gusting, I dropped Kathy at the front entrance, before parking the Car. Inside the Apartment, I explained what the Supplements are for and why. There was no argument.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local New”, showed we had a high of 61 F (16 C) just after Midnight this morning and we could see some early morning Flurries over the weekend.

We also watched an episode of “Mayday” before Kathy headed off to bed. I am struggling to keep my eyes open as I write the Blog. Hopefully, I will feel this way when I try to sleep.

Time Machine.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Well last night was a complete reversal of what I had been trying to accomplish. In the end, only a quarter of my night was spent in Bed. The good thing was that I felt well rested the rest of the day. I also managed to sleep in a bit longer, so by the time I had connected to The Weather Network this morning, Kathy had already came out to join me.

The outside temperature was all we really needed to know, because the Southwest Wind was already rattling the Privacy Panel against the Balcony Rail. Since the sky was totally cloud covered and there were puddles all over the parking lot, we knew what kind of day we would have.

We started our day very light, having only Breakfast Juice for our Medications, then Yogurt Cups. Our Coffees did come to our Computers.

Kathy as a retired Bookkeeper/Accountant, has always taken care of our Income Tax Returns. Lately, numbers have become confusing to her, so she has handed over that duty to me. I started going through a pile of paper, much of which had nothing to do with our Taxes. Some were Advertisements, Bank Statements, Grocery Receipts and out of date Coupons. I now have the Tax Information separated and will wait until next week to take them to our Accountant. In the meantime, I still have a lot of reading to do.

We enjoyed Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for lunch before going back to our Computers.

The sky never cleared all day, but the pavement started to dry. The Wind calmed enough that we reached 75 F (24 C) this afternoon.

We actually ate Grilled Ham, Sauteed Asparagus and Potato Slices for supper, before the “6 o’clock Local News” came on. We are forecasted to have Rain for the next Six Days, but after looking at the Radar, we might get half of the forecast.

All we had left for dessert tonight, were a few Cookies. We definitely have to go shopping tomorrow.

I closed up the paperwork for the night and will get back to it this week.

This is not the first time that someone has suggested we write about some of our past adventures. Especially since the only thing we are writing about at this time, is our Health Issues. Many of the Blogs we read on our Sidebar, are doing exactly that. It will be our Time Machine by bringing back Memories for us and we can also Dream of new adventures we hope to take in the future. Exactly what Jeremy Irons on our Sidebar said.

A word of warning to those who easily fall victim to Practical Jokes, tomorrow is April Fools Day. Trust nobody.

Tests, Errands and Late Delivery.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I am certain that many of you are getting tired of reading about our sleep issues and you might even consider just skipping the Blog entirely. Unfortunately, this is a part of our lives that we would also prefer that we would not have to live with, but must. Writing this Blog, gives us the reminder of what we went through on those particular days.

Last night was another back and forth between my Two CPAP Machines with the Bedroom location getting the highest time. Unfortunately, that time was not all sleep time, simply time connected to the Machines. The fact that I needed to add another Extra Strength Tylenol for the Shoulder Pain and a Half Dose of ZzzQuil sleep aide.

I was up by 7:15 and after turning on my Computer, washed up the Dishes I had left behind while watching the movie last night. Back at my Computer, I checked The Weather Network and my E-Mail. We could expect a wonderful day, with above seasonal temperatures and a message showed that Supplements I ordered just yesterday, were scheduled for delivery today.

When Kathy joined me, the only thing we had this morning was our Medications, before getting ready to leave. She had a hard time believing that it was already 57 F (14 C) outside at that time.

The Northwest Wind did add a bit of a bite, but we were soon in the Car on our way to Dyna-Care laboratories in Tecumseh. Kathy needs to be checked every Two Months, to be certain that her Arthritis Medication is not affecting her Liver. We used to be able to make appointments, but that ability was discontinued in January.

It took all of Fifteen Minutes before she was finished and we were walking out. A big difference compared to the Two to Three Hour waits at their other location.

We headed to Guardian Storage to collect our Mail, but the Supplements had not been delivered.

Next we stopped at Arby’s to have Reuben Sandwiches for lunch. Wanda was happy to see us.

Driving to the far side of the parking lot, we went to the Credit Union to pay our monthly bills. Next, we had to go to the Bank to put some Eggs in our other basket.

We then made a stop at the nearby Dollarama, to pick up Cough Drops and Brisk Iced Tea, before heading for home.

We used our Folding Two Wheel Shopping Cart to bring things upstairs. The moment we walked into the Apartment, we started sweating and had to open our Balcony Door and Bedroom Window. With our heat being controlled by the Management Company in Toronto, they did not realize that 250 Miles away in Windsor our outside temperature was 73 F (28.3 C). We also had to change to our Summer Shorts to cool down.

The heat also kept our eyes opening and closing, just what we were trying to avoid. Since lunch had been so filling, we waited until the “6 o’clock Local News” was over, before sharing a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Chicken Pizza for a late supper.

We watched a few episodes of “Forensic Files” before calling it a night. The Wind has picked up with a chance of Thunderstorms heading our way. Checking my E-Mail, the Supplements were delivered minutes before closing. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
