Since we had
to replace our last Modem,
my Computer
has been causing me problems with not
staying On-Line.
The last Modem
was over a Year
old and had only let me down Twice.
This newer unit has already dropped me a Dozen
times and last night was the worst.
Just as I was about to hit the Publish button, the screen blinked a couple times, the came back with the message “You are not Connected”. Well, no thanks to the dumb Modem. After a few unsuccessful tries, I knew that I had to reboot the Computer. I had time to get ready to go to sleep and still had to wait another Ten Minutes to reconnect. Luckily, I learned a long time ago, not to delete my Document until I was certain the Blog had published. Having recopied the Document, I was surprised when I opened the dashboard to see the first try, already saved as a Draft. Another touch of the Publish button, examine the Blog and I was shutting down for the night.
I barely remember tipping back in my Recliner before falling to sleep. It was probably due to the lack of sleep I had been getting, that made it easy. Being close to the Door, I woke when a rowdy neighbour was just getting home. That worked out perfect, because I was ready to move to the Bed for the night. Since I am using my old and new CPAP Machines to sleep with, it was a quick transition, falling to sleep as fast as before.
I have
mentioned that it is not funny when you suddenly wake up gasping for
air. That happened last night but it was not from a Power
Outage. It
was from a Blanket
Hoarder. I was laying
on my left side, facing Kathy, when she scooped up the Blankets
in her sleep,
while
saying that she was cold. First,
she was completely covered and I no
longer was. Second,
when she scooped the Blankets,
she also grabbed the hose to my CPAP
Mask, pulling it right
off my head. As soon as I told her that she was cover, she went back
to relaxed
sleep. I had to take the
CPAP Mask
to the Kitchen,
where I used the Night
Light to readjust the
Mask
so I could go back to Bed.
The next thing I knew, the Sun was peaking around the Blind to wake me up by 7:30. I had been busy reading Blogs, E-Mails and News Reports, when Kathy joined me at 9:00. The last few days when my Eyes had closed during the afternoon, she had surprisingly stayed awake, so it is not a problem if she sleeps slightly later in the morning.
Breakfast was only Breakfast Snack Bars and Yogurt Cups, with Juice so we could take our morning Medications. The temperature was only 19 F (-7 C) with a North Wind. It would reach 27 F (-3 C) later this afternoon.
It was close to 1:00 when we had Salmon Sandwiches for lunch. We were back at the Computers when our daughter Karen called to check how we were doing. She also shared some news that was a little unnerving. A Special Friend to her had passed away last weekend. Worse yet was the passing of Stanley, our granddaughter’s Sphinx Cat. He was a playful Three-Year-Old, but apparently that is the normal lifespan of the particular breed. They will both be missed.
One thing led to another, so it was nearly 7:00 when we sat down to have supper. We had Honey Garlic Spareribs, Sauteed Potato Slices and Acorn Squash as a side. We even had a slice of Christmas Fruit Cake for dessert.
With an afternoon appointment tomorrow, we’ll do a few more things at the same time.
