8 Hours and 152

With the increasing Shoulder Pain, I finally gave in and took an Extra Strength Tylenol before going to bed last night. That combined with the Prescribed Medication I managed to get nearly Eight Hours connected to my CPAP Machines and most of it was sleeping.

I think knowing that the Alarm was not set, made me relax enough to just sleep and not be subconsciously thinking of having to get up. The only time that it mattered was when I woke nearly Thirty Minutes later that I had hope to. A breakfast snack, a quick shower and we were soon out the door.

The minute you walked out into the sunshine today, it felt like you were cooking inside your clothes. Kathy does not mind waiting for me and gets the chance to speak to other Donors while I am making mine. By the time we left the Canadian Blood Services building, I had made my 152nd Donation.

Heading back towards home we stopped at the Credit Union to finish our monthly card payments. Since our Government Cheques were not deposited until Saturday, this last one had to wait. It could have been done on Monday, but I wasn’t up to the task.

Pulling out of their parking lot, the road in the direction we needed to go was a stand still, so we went too Wendy’s to have lunch. Using Coupons really helps to keep our costs down.

Heading in the opposite direction when we left, there was barely any traffic, so we arrived at the Bank in only a few minutes. Kathy came inside to get out of the heat. We were both surprised to find an Orange Plastic Tarp hanging ceiling to floor, blocking access to the offices. Even with all the Tellers open it still took almost Thirty Minutes to deposit our Eggs.

With nothing else needing to be instantly taken care of, and with the 97 F (36 C) Humidex, I dropped Kathy off at the front entrance to out building. As long as I don’t stay out in the direct Sunlight for extended periods of time, these are only warm temperatures to me.

We spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on the reading we missed this morning. It was past 7:00 when we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Hawaiian Pizza with extra Pineapple and Mozzarella Cheese for a late supper.

A few episodes of “Mayday” were watched this evening until the “11 o’clock Local News” came on. This world is getting crazier every day.

Happy Birthday and Changing System.

Even though last night was the second night in a row using that New Medication, it did not help me to sleep or to curb the problem it had been prescribed for. If you recall my Shoulder Pain started after I fell backwards on a Cement Floor at the end of March. Even though my Family Doctor has been trying to get me in for treatment, changes to our Health Care System has made it nearly impossible to do.

At one time the Canadian Health Care System was the envy of the world and if you had a problem it was quickly treated. It was set up that the Provincial Government paid 50% and the Federal Government paid the other 50%. How they got those monies were through the Income Taxes that everyone paid. Many European Countries adopted the Canadian System, but in 1980s a Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the US saw things change from a humane system to one that made money by privatizing much of our system. The system went from one that everyone was treated equally, to one that if you are willing to pay for treatment, you will be moved to the front of the line. (Does that sound familiar?)

Today Canada is celebrating 158 Years of Independence as a country. For many that are still working it gives them a day to spend with Family and Friends. It gave us a chance to get things accomplished On-Line and to spend the day together.

After a Snack for breakfast, we enjoyed the Leftover Chicken Parmesan from our meal at Eastside Mario’s on Sunday. It was just as filling.

We enjoyed Hotdog Wraps with Nacho Cheese and a side of Asparagus for supper.

We later watched “Forensic Files” for the evening.

Hoping all our Canadian Readers enjoyed a Happy Canada Day.
